I’m surprised Omega Flowey isn’t on this list. Some videos show him as the scariest modern video game boss. Him not being 8 bit and being able to crash your game is some nightmare fuel. His pre-battle song, “You Idiot” is also very good at giving people chills.

Love Spider-Man on the PS1, it's my favorite Spider-Man game as well and monster ock is one of the coolest non canon characters ever, truly horrifying.

While the piano in super mario 64 is definitely a good jumpscare the eel in jolly roger bay was more frightening to me.

Some of these games were released before The ESRB introduced the rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and up) rating in 2005 possible because of Lego Star Wars The Video game in 2005 which is the one only focusing on the prequels even though the game was rated E (For Everyone) it had tons of moments were your Lego character or the bad guys get killed and crumble in Lego pieces and some death too intense for a rated E game

Honestly, the scariest part in Luigi's Mansion for me was when the power went out in the mansion, pretty much temporarily undoing ALL OF MY PROGRESS in eliminating the mansion of all of the ghosts. You also get to see the weird creepy uncle in the ghost family. Bleh.

Andross, Ganondorf & the zombies in hyrule town. Scared the shit out of me! Even the PS1 startup sound scared me as a kid. Gives me chills now 🤔😂 the screams from Zelda's witches etc. The general spooky music...hated it..which is why when super young I'd only watch my friend play it and read him the strategy guide. I couldn't take part 😂

I feel as if there could be more things in games for kids that could scare them, and Yo-Kai Watch 3 has one thing in mind, and that is Clown Time, where while roaming the streets of BBQ at night, you’ll occasionally see a clown roaming the streets, and if you get in his line of sight, he’ll activate Clown Time, and you have to run away from the clown, otherwise you’ll get punished if you fail. To make things worse, you need to complete Clown Time 20 times to get a Trophy called You’re Not Funny!.
