How to Fix Starfield Mods Not Working/Loading | A Few Things to Try

I see nobody is talking about this wich is just WAW but has anybody noticed that you bookmark a bunch of mods but it doesn't show you all your bookmarked?, honestly, us console players are so fucked and Bethesda is pathetic, new vegas was when they peaked.

Wow, how the f*ck was I supposed to know that I need to launch through vortex? And why does nothing/no one explain that? I just spent hours doing all kinds of things uninstalling and reinstalling files etc trying to get these stupid mods to work, and I created an SFSE icon on my desktop to click, like I always did. I had no idea that was something I'm supposed to click on in the Vortex app and I had to use that! Really miss Nexus Mod Manager right now.. Who designed that thing? At least someone had the sense to explain that. Everywhere else I looked for help, had me messing around in the files. 😡

Its crazy, I have done all the fixes and the mods for outposts are not working as well as some weapon mods. Specifically the one giving me the most issues is OUT- Outpost Ultimate Tweaks. I can not get it to show at all.

I get scriptextender at wrong version. It been this way for weeks. It prevent me from starting from Vortex

most of my mods work fine but i installed some new mods but this new mods most of them dont work, but some work fine. i confused. i installed all the mods into data folder root game folder not in my document data folder. the mods that i installed pathfinder armor usefull structures and suplemental thruster, they dont work

Anyone using mods use vortex for light modding non Bethesda games mod organizer 2 is far better for complex and any Bethesda modding

When I launch from vortex mods on the top left it just doesn't open

My mods worked until now without the need to start it up through Vortex, but idk why, even though I have plugins enabled, mods enabled, .ini file set up correctly and started the game through Vortex, the game still said there are missing mods in my save.

I tried to mod my shit for the past 4 hours. None of my mods are in game. I modded my grand theft auto like crazy and it was much harder then this but for some reason….. not a single mod is in but they’re all enabled and launched the game from vortex. I have the ini with the archives and all….

Can anybody literally do a STEP BY STEP guide??? It would seem so simple but i don’t understand why I have no mods ughhhhh 😊

wow so i need vortex sfsc loader winrar and 30 other things just to install a mod? after trying it seems not worth it. nothings loads just says cant find this cant find that cant load. nonsense

Man I looked and looked and bam I see this video and the way to launch from vortex. They really should make it just alittle easier to see.

I'm working with a Gampass PC Copy with Vortex. I downloaded that gamepass ultimate Starfield collection. I fired the game back up using vortex to launch .after choosing my last save point I've been stuck in Loading sequence for hour the first time. Stopped and restrted and doing the same thing. Any suggestions?😅

Hey there, Im having a different issue and maybe you could help. I've got Starfield on Gamepass and after a few tweaks including setting the .ini file up correctly as a .ini file and set to read only which helped, the game now recognises I have mods installed as noted by the Achievement off message but they still dont load in game. Any suggestions? Currently loaded to \Documents\MyGames\starfield. Gonna swap them to the main \program\xbox\starfield\ folder and see if that helps but i dont have a good feeling about it. Any help appreciated.

my mods are loading but any color of armor ect wont change from default

Not sure why but my game won't load using SFSE loader. I have both the exe and dll files in my Starfield.exe directory. When I try to launch a fold briefly pops up and nothing happens. I can still launch Starfield normally. Anyone have any ideas? I tried re-downloading it and running as administrator, no luck. I am using Steam 😢

i had a bunch of mods loaded on the xbox version of starfield but once i tried using SFSE only my perk icon mod started working and nothing else

So my issue was the missing .ini file thanks for the video I really like the new inventory look I got

man out of the sudden my 10 or so mods i was using now not of them actually work now it really sucks out of the sudden, does having a OneDrive full affects this in any form??

so.
when i paste the StarfieldCustom.ini into documents/mygames/starfield, and start the game via vortex.
the game starts straight into a save file thats lvl 0 and starts rehashing shaders. getting stuck in loadscreen at lvl0.

So... whats the point of a mod manager that doesn't manage the mods? (issue 3, which I'm having.)

My vortex does not launch starfield? Game location is correct and everything. But when i click that play button nothing happens. Can anyone help please? Most of my mods still work but richer merchants does not.

hey Tony, thanks for the video. I have a probleme with just some mods. everything is working except for all the sTestFilesX=***.esp none of those works (like ammo craft, Clutter Begone, etc)... any insight ? thanks

I've all but given up on mods. They work one day next day they don't, it's ridiculous. I've watched countless videos, guides and nothing works.

Well finally after this video they worked. Except for the ship build with no limits..oh well..lol

Copying in the ini file fixed my issue.

You are basically naming your starfieldcustom.ini to starfieldcustom.ini.ini because you are hiding known file type extensions

Hi thanks. Can I clarify mod folder locations please. My Vortex automatically chose the Starfield game folder in Steamapps/common. however, on mods that say youi can use either use a Mod Manager, (which never works for me) I tried the manual method. I note in the dev notes its instead, telling me to install mod to the Documents folder here - . e.g. 'Then, extract the downloaded archive directly into "..\Documents\My Games\Starfield\". Can you confirm which mod folder the mods should sit in for Vortex if using Steam? . Common/Starfield or MyGames/Starfield?

After you create the StarfieldCustom.ini what do you do next? Just Kinda left us hanging.

I'm using Vortex and still stuck, I've followed this video. Many of the manual changes I had to make to the ini file in mygames/starfield/ have an sStartingConsoleCommand start.

Does that mean I need to activate the mods in console commands before they will work? E.g. Improved combat AI

To create an ini with the text you need to enable file name extensions in the View Tab in your file explorer

I understand everyone's frustration with buying the Microsoft version. I decided to refund the game on the MS store and buy the steam version. Thought i was saving a buck on gamepass but the lack of mod support is more frustrating than its worth.

When I try to launch Starfield through Vortex, IT says Couldnt find Starfield.exe. But I can open the game folder in Vortex? so im not sure why its not finding the exe file when i see it in there. This is the Gamepass version

Achievement Enabler Mods also do not work AT ALL. There's bafflingly shitty instructions on how to install it, and despite them advertising removing the console warning which ACTUALLY DISABLES ACHIEVEMENTS PER CHARACTER, it still does not work. kinda hilarious how people are too busy rushing to make mods just to make them, and not actually QA them better before posting them.

So far all I’ve been able to do is break my controls. Now I’m reinstalling the game after deleting all the local files… following numerous instruction sets none have worked yet
