C&C started my love for RTS games. I'm still hoping for an Act of War sequel or any new RTS.

Command and Conquer may be dead... But the gameplay and units that made it famous might not be. Just need a new fun developer... That isn't owned by the two monopolies. That isn't 'such a small dev team' that they try and crowd fund over 100% needed then release a half finished alpha game never to be fully fleshed out like the majority of indie releases in the last ten years.


I'll always hold red alert 2-YR as my all time favorite. I played the SP over and over and over. Then when the coop challenge maps came out online that was a blast. The PVP community was eh alright... Back in early 2000's they weren't as toxic as say fortnite people... But they weren't the warm and fuzzy help out new players type either.

i hnounestly couldent care less if CnC4 required a constant connection or not. i pretty sure they used that controversy it to cover up its true failures.... a command and conquer being turned into a squad point capture system piece of crap

C&C is the one of the things that forged the way I am. I am so lucky I played RA2 since I was a kid, because without it, I would not be whole. What a shame that it had to go down to its gravestone. Still, I'm a fan of C&C because of the YR "expansion mod" named Mental Omega, and of course, the original RA2 and YR. It feels like modders have put more effort than EA.

I'm amazed this actually mentions alliances, cause that game is like... super SUPER expensive to play. It costs so much money to be competitive and due to the way the game works, you cannot catch up free because your map has an ending.

Its interesting watching it progress, and how 17mins in EA decides to close down both studio's they had bought, causing us to get a game that both did not work on, C&C4, which everyone and their dog hated. And now, if EA is on the box, it means do not play this game or buy it.

We don't talk about Tiberium Twilight.

Command and Conquer Generals was the best thing that had happened in C&C franchise to me. When they pull the plug on C&C Generals 2, that was a war on EA for me.

Generals 2 was cancelled due to politics and shenanigans by the higher ups??? It is simple to say it is just fiction and period

It would really love to play a Tiberium wars with a current graphics engine and a good story but with the gameplay of Tiberium wars 3 because the 4 was a trash

I loved all of these games as long as they kept being good. But still, Dune 2 staretd it all, hehe :)
I dislike speeding up RTS games and more micro management. I like taking things slowly and making huge bases and conquering maps completely, so this C&C4 and such were just nonsense.

Classic EA. Completely wipe their ass with purchased IPs then shutdown the studios.

Some idiot couldn't keep the game SIMPLE, after 10k hours playing in my young age I stopped because the game became too 'flashy', 'unreal' and 'complicated'. I am what I am today because of that game, I remember one year I spent two months on the chair, whole summer school break.

it is so sad to watch this, as you can realize how Blizzard made clone copy of these moves in a right way but Westwood failed even though they had the right/better vision than Blizzard.

I remember command and conquer online. Was actually pretty fun. Command and conquer red alert was my first pc game I ever played and I loved it. Then I played age of empires at my cousins and was up all night playing. Me and my cousin got high as hell and played all night. Fun times.

As much as we can blame EA for all of this disaster, we should also be blaming the consumers for being this ignorant

Command and Conquer: Arena was supposed to be free to play and made for a more casual audience. When Tiberium was cancelled, EA needed to fill the revenue gap and made CnC: Arena into a box product ie CnC4. EA did not want make this for console because how poorly Red Alert 3 did on console. Among the devs, this was seen as bad because this was a casual RTS but put on only PC, where all the hardcore players play. They also had to create a story line after this news and had to film cut scene in a short amount of time. Also in November 2009, they told the RTS team at EALA at the time that they were all laid off with the exception of the CnC4 team. The CNC4 team was told that they would be laid off when they finished the game in Feb 2010. Because of this, there was no motivation to really polish the game.

I played renegade a long time ago and I actually really enjoyed the story! Multiplayer skirmish mode was really fun too!

Gaming industry corporations ruin old franchises by trying to appeal to an imaginary market of the future instead of trying to cater for their current fan base. The former may work fine for new IPs, but for old franchises they MUST listen to their old fans. They are also greeady but that's a different topic.

Nothing beats WESTWOOD STUDIOS.
