get organic seeds from wherever...and then save from your own harvest, cheapest, easiest, and BEST since it's always adapting to YOUR climate!
ОтветитьI stopped ordering from Baker Creek. Their seeds are just too expensive. Johnny's is also a no-go due to price.
ОтветитьMary's Select Seeds. I think is based in Texas. Always includes a free packet of seeds. Amazingly, in my last order the free seed was Yellow pear tomato which I really like. She is so helpful, also includes a sheet on how to plant the various types of veggie seeds. Website is very helpful as well. I highly recommend.

You mentioned Burpee in stores, but they still have a catalog.
Ahh Baker Creek… they had me at hello🤣
ОтветитьSo evil for making us want to grow cool plants. 😂
ОтветитьI switched to Johnny’s this season, I had been a loyal Stokes customer for over three decades and then suddenly, they decided they don’t want to supply the little guy anymore for 2024, I’m so disappointed!
ОтветитьBuffalo seed co. in kansas. Germination very high. Fantastic family!
ОтветитьI ordered rhubarb roots from Renee's Garden and they were HUGE. I like Botanical Interests too. Thanks for the info about local sources. Makes sense they would grow well. God bless!
ОтветитьEverwilde is a really good company too
ОтветитьMiGardener
ОтветитьLol you are a funny guy. That whole emotional bit about Baker Creek while the cat is in the background pouncing on something had me rolling. "Jere Gettle is the most evil man on the face of the earth." 😂😂
ОтветитьI buy from all that you mentioned, and also Fruition.
ОтветитьHoss Tools ❤❤ one of my favorites!
ОтветитьI interned at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and there was no one named Sky or Ash. There was an Ira, a Ken, and someone named Radish, but Radish left when I was there, which was around 2008. But yes, they are some crazy, commune people who are dedicated to seeds.
ОтветитьAbsolutely NOT a Baker Creek fan. The art is too dark and goth. No thank you.
ОтветитьJohnny’s is pricey, and high shipping. I have ordered from them, but not a lot. Renee’s Garden is not close to me either, but I love their seeds.
ОтветитьI love trying those weird, odd and wonderfully strange veggies. I love taking them to parties and addicting my friends to them lol. One friend took a few years to win over, but once she found carrot fly only took her orange carrots, now she only grows purple ones lol.
ОтветитьI'm just praying we don't have a 2024 Peppergate repeat! 😢
ОтветитьBotanical Interests is good, too. I had great germination rates last year.
ОтветитьI had a good luck with Botanical interests and Renee’s seeds
ОтветитьHA!!! I knew he was going to say Baker Creek 😂😂😂.
ОтветитьI should have stopped listening after #3 because you are so right...I am also a Baker Creek Seed Company addict! And now you've give me a couple of other places to get in trouble at! :0 I have to confess that I've also been know to frequent the 4/$1 seed disays at Dollar Tree.....they might just be nothing fancy, but they grow as well as the more expensive ones for the most part. Especially when you spent all of your seed budget at Baker Creek but still need MORE seeds!! :0
ОтветитьBaker Creek’s catalog isn’t as good as it used to be. My number one is Pine Tree Vegetable Garden Seeds. They sell hybrid and heirloom. But they are really great!
Ответить#1 is always going to be saved seeds from your garden.
ОтветитьCheck out Andrew Seed Co. In Oregon
ОтветитьHaven’t bought from them yet but experimental farm network looks very interesting
Ответитьremove baker creek altogether in favor of Experimental Farm Network
ОтветитьAs a marketing professional, I love watching you react to quality marketing. Burpee's long term branding campaign, Baker's emotional connection copy writing, and I even like to review catalogs for font usage and which photos anchor each page. Yep...quality marketing works.
ОтветитьIve had great luck with StClare Seeds. Your spot on with Baker Creek and Johnny's.
ОтветитьWhat about Botanical Interest? I have ordered from them for a couple years and only had one issue.
ОтветитьI don’t see anyone talking about Totally Tomatoes but their catalog is great. Bakers creek wasn’t offering my prairie fire tomatoes last year so I got them from totally tomatoes whose catalog contains much more than tomatoes!
ОтветитьI miss Thompson and Morgan! They used to be my absolute favorite!!!
ОтветитьAlso Chiltern seeds in England has some great seed selections and their catalog is crazy. Been ordering from them on and off for over 25 years!
ОтветитьBakers Creek is the BEST seed source. I wouldn’t buy crap from my local feed and seed unless I wanted GMO hybrids. No thanks.
ОтветитьI buy seed from all over. I like the fact Baker Creek has free shipping. Johnny's for quality. And for various other reasons companies such as Seeds & Such, Tomato Growers Supply, Fedco seed, Hoss, True leaf market, High Mowing Organic seed and Pine tree gardens,. And who doesn't grab that last minute packet from Burpee. Grow on!
ОтветитьInstant you said cateloge, i knew it was baker's creek. The near 'bible' of seed catelogs.
I also like migardner, seeds now, true leaf.
Haven't gotten any from Johnny's or territorial in awhile.
True Leaf Market. LOVE them.
ОтветитьMary’s Heirloom Seeds is also great! We also use Dixondale for our onions and leeks. They are located in South Texas.
ОтветитьI agree with the local seed place, especially for bulk. In my neighborhood we have a plant and produce store that also sell some bulk seeds which are the same seeds that they do well with on their farm. Also, they have their very own named collard seed which they developed over the past 100 years.
For me,#1 is Southern Exposure because they have some great seeds for the south with nematode, disease and insect resistance without being hybrids. (My favorite is South Anna Butternut) Pinetree and Migardner are excellent for small amounts. Baker Creek-well,such interesting varieties and the catalog!
Hoss Tools and Johnny Seeds if I want something hybrid or very specific.
Every spring we have a seed exchange through our Master Gardeners. We also supply our local library so the public can come in and get seeds. I like the Totally Tomatoes catalog. They have other seeds besides tomatoes.
ОтветитьILGM has seeds brah
ОтветитьMary's Heirloom Seeds
ОтветитьI like the people, what they are doing with the community and the seeds that Meadowlark Hearth produces.
ОтветитьSow true seeds from north carolina is a great seed company.
ОтветитьYou get old and then you die - or not
ОтветитьTake a look at Morgan county seed co great prices and slections
ОтветитьI have had great success with the heirloom seeds from Azure standard.
ОтветитьI am really sad MIgardener didn't make the top 5 list. They have been my most reliable source of quality seeds. Onion seeds that got something between 80-100% germination after more than 2 years. I've never had that with any other seed company.
