My now-elderly father and his wife did a few R7C's and they love their wine . . . and their "free" excursions.
Your explanation is very helpful as we don't drink alcohol either, and generally feel comfortable exploring on our own, so I don't think the economics work for us.

Bottom line, folks, is that cruising isn't what it used to be. Covid has resulted in the emergence of much of the worst of human nature, laziness, ignorance, incompetence and an entirely unwarranted sense of "equality", all leading to crews who really don't give a damn.

We love Regents and have been on lots of their cruises around the world. Like you said the main attraction is that we pay up front and everything is included. We did a fantastic cruise on the Navigator last year up the Amazon and at 25 days the free laundry was a bonus. I can see if you don’t drink the free booze is lost on you but we loved the fine wine. Beer, cocktails and the fact that they fill your cabin fridge with your favs. The staff knew our names and dislikes by the 2nd day and the service outstanding probably because they are paid above the norm. We like the small numbers on board which enabled us to meet people. A agree completely with you that they seem to think anyone over 60 must only want to listen to old fashioned music and I have said so in my review but the talks were excellent especially of the Amazon. We went at the time of the Football World Cup and we were delighted that they were able to stream all the matches with a fun afternoon of England v USA in the theatre. We have also booked to go on the Explorer in 2024 to Japan so hope to see you on the ship.

I love that Gary loves afternoon tea, me too! 😁 I’m not sure this looks as luxurious as I’d expected and I might get a bit bored with re-using the same spaces and I’d hate to not be able to access bookings if desired. The variety of tours sounded good, but the entertainment a little disappointing. I feel I’ve had this level of service etc or better with NCL on board nicer ships, all inclusive and at a fraction of the cost. I’m keen to try the high end brands of cruising for the smaller ship experience but I’m not particularly impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Such a personal choice but Gary’s independent review’s definitely provide the type of information needed to help decision making.

Not our experience: a Caribbean cruise pre Covid had shoddy excursions and were overcrowded. Are they charging extra for Johnny Walker Black. And, their recipe for an Old Fashioned isn't right. Didn't find the food anything special. Staterooms are narrower than Seabourn; hard to walk past desk when someone is sitting there. Bar service was great, but I fall in love easily, miss Madalena from Bucharest.

Regent is supposedly a 6 star cruise line so it’s incredibly disappointing to see Twinings Tea - and only tea bags at that! That’s certainly NOT luxury!

Gary - I'm hoping you'll take & review a cruise aboard one of the newer Regent ships (Explorer or Splendor . . . or, post-Nov 2023, Grandeur). Navigator is their smallest and oldest ship with, among other limitations, only one specialty restaurant (and a steakhouse at that . . . EVERY city of any size has a steakhouse so an onboard chophouse is not "unique").

Omg i went there on Feb 25- march 4 I think , it was Bangkok to Manila, it was really great considering i came from a 3rd world country and i almost never experience luxury, my parents work/worked for Regent before, my mom Left to take care of us and my dad would work there, so i rarely see/meet my dad

Their Steaks, Peaches, salami, and Bread were so good!

This time Ive been to Explorer, in feb-March too on 2019 i was on The mariner

Wonderful video. The difference of traveling luxury small ship experience shows in the details. Of course this is one of their older ships, and showing her age in areas... But still the difference is there. I'm just wondering how those lines will make the generation change. The ones now on their mid 50's are far different than the classical cruise crowd that have fed those lines from decades ago. they're ageing of course, but they'll to age as some relatively more energetic individuals with other tastes to start with at any level. I can see now the challenge beginning...

Regent lost me at "no USB ports"--hard to see how an "ultra-luxury" line could lack what is now mandatory for most folks and not just a nicety.

I am nervous to try a cruise at all because I don't enjoy alcohol. I love the respect and support of beverage alternatives given to those who don't imbibe by Regency. I want afternoon tea and small group excursions. I'm looking at Virgin, simply to not have to endure unattended children but also since they seem the best for my personality and a first time cruise experience. Can anyone give advice?

I do wish there were some cruises with an emphasis on health - with healthy food options that are still delicious. Even sugar free and lighter desserts, breakfast healthy options etc

I truly appreciate all of your videos! Your content is well-thought-out. You give really good tips based on your considerable experience as a professional cruise traveler. I am a solo traveler. One thing I would like to hear when you review specific cruise lines/cruises is whether, as a solo traveler, you paid double the fare (the cost of the fare for a couple) for your accommodations. I know from your past videos that you do often travel with your partner. It would be helpful to know, though, if there are any incentives for solo travelers like me to even look at Regent Seven Seas. I love the idea of luxury cruise travel but always hesitate to pay twice the cost. (I do know that the cruise lines are there to make money and that one person taking up the space of two fare-paying people is a serious consideration in their pricing.) Thank you, Gary!

We can't match your 100 cruises - our next one will be no. 67, but that does include 9 or 10 cruises at 6+ weeks. Initially our cruising was about the destination and we accepted long flights, & mainstream cruise lines as long as the accomodation had a seawiew, was in good condition and the food was reasonable. Now having been most places, (and got old and grumpy), we are a lot choosier over the ship (& the flying!) so we've been trying Oceania, Saga's new ships, Silverseas and Cunard Queens Grill - although our last trip was Princess Grill -wherer we found the food as good as QG and the Princess Grill cabin the quietest (important!) and most comfortable we've ever had. However our best exeriences have been with Regent (not least because of the included drinks & trips!) - which is the reason we got to your video as we are trying the Seven Seas Navigator in a few weeks.

Whilst I probably wont ever cruise with them because of cost and the fact we can do several other cruises for the price of one with Regent...I do however find it comforting that they havent dropped the quality level just to capture a bigger share of the market, it means we all still have something to dream and aspire to.

It must be a €6000 minimum for 13 days cruise on the Navigator. Other offers are about €4500 for 8 days. It's about €500 a day. Luxury dining in a 3 Michelin star restaurant would set you back about €450 including paired wine. But now you sail and have other amenities and things. It's more the kind of people you pay for, like "no kids" and the absence of childish fun like a water shoot going outside of the ship or a skart racetrack on the top deck. But do I want to play trivia for €500 a night? No, I'd rather play bridge, chess or go. So, the level of sophistication, intelligent stuff and more intellectual stuff is left wanting, perhaps due to the kind of folk that is not bothered by boring stuff and has no bone with splurging money to go on such a cruise. I'd never go alone on such a cruise except as a lecturer to entertain the guests on unexpected and interesting lectures. But then again, what would these people be interested in? I dare not think of that.
