Kite Festival of Ahmedabad | International Kite Festival 2023

Hello friends!! Kai Poo Cheee? So you can hear me out today I was so excited to visit the first festival of the year which is International Kite Festival held at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. Uttrayan is around the corner and Ahmedabadis are all set to fly the kites during the festival.

The enthusiasm of the people can be seen through the festival held at the river bank. This festival is not only famous in India but also in the world as many countries from the world like Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Portugal etc. have participated in this competition. The festival is dedicated to the Uttrayan also known as Makarsakranti or Lohri in other parts of India. During this festival people gather on their roof top to fly kites in the open sky as the weather during this period is quite pleasant so people enjoy flying kites.

Gujaratis know it well how to enjoy each and every occasion with zeal. Just to see their level of excitement, today, we went to the Kite Festival and we got to know many aspect of the kites like its origin to its uses to its types. Every single detail were mentioned there. It is more like an event where a complete market is set up to promote the handicraft and handloom market of Gujarat where we have seen many antiques like Patan ka Patola and saree of worth rupees one lakh thirty thousand to the ajrakh print natural colors clothes. We got an opportunity to meet international Kite Flyers from Singapore, South Africa and Portugal.

In conversation with them we got to know that some are flying the kites professionally and some are taking it as hobby but all love to fly kites this is what makes them happy. Today we have witnessed the most colorful event as many colorful and unique designed kites were flying on the sky and tried to capture it through our lens. Hope you too loved watching it.
