The Russian plane speeds are probably false and were never verified outside the Soviet Union or Russia. There are a few missing here like the Lightning which achieved a speed of mach 2.7.

notice how the incredibly engineered SR71 can only go mach 3, because of engineering and pilot limitations... But the Giant fat heavy space shuttle with a full crew and cargo can go mach 22 with no ill effects to the occupants or craft... Perhaps something is rotten in the state of NASA.
