Build a DIY screen out of recycled parts for cheap

I have a g185bge-l01 touch screen display and want to diy it to use with my pc. I only cant find a control board with hdmi for it. Can you help me?

i know its been a long time since this video go up, so im writing and kinda hoping, you still read the comments. I have an older laptop screen, and a newer Mother Board for my gamer setup. Is it possible to combine them with the current cables there is on it? And how?

Just figured that a sparepart screen (where I'm from) costs around usd 10-15, while the control board is about usd 50-60.

i need to buy a second monitor to make my job easier but i work from home and still live in my parents house so right now i don't have space on my desk for a cool monitor.

I'm gonna try recycling the screen i had for my very first laptop into a second monitor that fits into the little space that's left on my desk.. wish me luck

Holy Moses! I didn't know about this! I have a QD14XL20 Rev.03 screen from an old Dell Laptop I discombooberated. Went on your link to to find a control board and, lo and behold, there it was for $20.70 plus shipping (unable to remember how much shipping right off). I am going to buy one. The possibilities are endless. I am new to building ANYTHING using computer components and plan on using the equipment I buy to augment my rig. Two heads are better than one, as I have heard. Well, same goes for monitors. Looking forward to building a Cyber Computer some time in the near future. Thank you for an informative and entertaining video.❤😎

I know this video is 6 years old, but it came up again and I took another look at it. I noticed that either you mounted the screen upside down, or it has it's input connector at the bottom. Which is it please?

I wish there was a special board that once old laptop motherboards are removed , USBC from a modern PC would power the monitor , web cam , mic and any drives . It could also act as a blue tooth keyboard . This type of device could be used with a desktop PC without the noise of a straining laptop but the convenience of a semi mobile display / keyboard . If new laptops were designed with this new role when obsolete , it could feel like technology was not such a bad investment , compared to an electric guitar that ages with dignity .

so question, I did this. used the motherboard of the laptop to make a NAS, and the screen to make a monitor. I've reached a dilemma the screen isn't showing anything, the computer is registering it as a monitor but the screen's blank. I know for a fact the screen works because it worked while I built the NAS, and it does project a small amount of light when turned on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@DIY Perks, What if i got a broken GPS screen without any video output port, is there a way to hack the screen cable and connect to the LCD HDMI control board?

I'm trying to build this, but I can't find a charger for the 10 batteries in series, the only thing I have is a 4 wall battery charger

Hey guys so I've tried to make my laptop screen monitor but the laptop's power cord doesn't seem plug into my control board. I know the model of the control board fits the model of a screen bc I've checked it a thousand times before I ordered it. It also looks like it SHOULD fit as the hole is the same size. Any advice?

Tip: if your going to build this, find what the laptop that your using with it’s screen number and find the exact same screen so it looks the same.

control board link doesn't seem to work for me

I have an old Lenovo laptop. It had fallen down on the concrete and the screen is just blue nothing else. Of course I can repair it but I want to turn it into a Tablet with touchscreen. Is it possible? If yes, what components do I need? Please DIY help me if you can. Thank you 🥰
