Even as somebody that knows nothing about cars, it amazes me how people can let their vehicles get this torn up.

somehow i wonder how you Americans do not die like flies on the roads. You clearly have not a single safety standard in work for your cars.

Honestly I put a clutch disc in backwards in H.S. auto shop.
Classmates played a joke on me.
The new disc had a sticker that read:
"Flywheel side." They switched the sticker to the wrong side. Ha ha fooled me! And yes a Chevy V8 1st gen clutch will make noise and still move.

Question: "So, er, what wrong with it?"

Answer: "A lot."

I don’t know the procedure in the States but here in the UK, a yearly MOT, (ministry of transport) test, is mandatory, there is no way half of these vehicles would be allowed on the road. If a vehicle did come into a garage, and the customer refused to have vital work done to make it safe, and the garage let it go, if that vehicle then caused an accident that garage could be held responsible to some degree for allowing to leave on the road.

I've often said this would be a great job but for the customers!

From the perspective of a lifelong Californian, it's crazy the way cars are just absolutely ravaged by shitty weather and everything that comes with it. Some of the cars in this video are rusted out piles of garbage and they're not even ten years old.

Nothing a bit of JB weld and duct tape needed, mabee a plastic or glass welding rod to keep it together

Mini coopers are the most over rated junk car ever. They are such garbage that I told the manager to quit purchasing them for the fleet. They fail often and parts are all special order. They are no better than a Hyundai Excel. Except that there are parts for a Hyundai Excel in every parts shop. That is not the case for a Mini Cooper.

Sometimes, customers decline service because they are junking vehicle.

I understand these the extreme of stupid I noticed 99.9% of them are in the United States of America. Do you guys not have yearly inspections over there on your vehicles here in the UK every year your car has to be inspected. It’s called an MOT and if it fails you’re not allowed to drive it on the road Yet some of these damages you see on these videos that’s gonna take more than a year of neglect to get to that state of knackered, especially the oil that never seems to get changed in some of these vehicles over here in the UK. You have to have a exhaust emissions test as part of your MOT to make sure that your car is not pumping out loads of shitinto the air and if it fails you still can’t drive it on the road, even if mechanically it’s okay if the admissions fail it still fails MOT

"Up-sell me?" If 90% of these cars rolled into my shop, I would lock them down and make the customer sign a waiver and release to get their keys back, and then I would tell them to get their POS out of my shop and never come back.

Mandatory state vehicle inspections would catch most of these problems before they kill someone.
