I don't remember being obsessed with my "rank". I remember looking around for guys that looked remotely appealing. Then observing their behavior towards others. Only after these things peaked my curiosity would I pursue getting to know someone to learn deeper information. At no time has a man's income or bank account been a priority for me. I was in a relationship with a rich and handsom man for nearly 2 years. He was also stingy, clingy, controlling, paranoid, and physically and mentally ab*sive. I totally thought I could "fix" him, until he embedded a landline phone in the wall right next to my head because his friends told him they liked me, and he got it in his head that I was trying to steal them away. (The friends were a group of couples) I didn't pursue him because of his money. I didn't pickup on the many MANY red flags until I was well invested. And I was reminded in a harsh way that looking for a romantic partner has way more to do with finding someone who is fundamentally decent, who complements and bolsters mostly the best thing about you, and you return the favor in kind. If all you're focused on are what rank someone is, or the size of their bank account, even yourself, you won't find a real match except by accident. Imho
