This is chilling. Poor girl was probably manipulated into it, if not outright assaulted, by modern standards. She refused to blame herself. Which adds to my suspicions.

They say her spirit can be seen at the lake where she died. Very tragic story.

what a horrid man to do such a thing and even happy that she was out of his life. I know times were different back then, but for a village/people to have sympathy for her in death but mocked in life really shows just as bad as people were than as we are today. some still to do this day mock a pregnant women not knowing everything just calling her any name along with the man that's not in her life either.
I know with time comes change, but it feels like we only progressed backward a times with how we are with each other.

I feel very bad for this young woman and her unborn baby! I’m surprised this reckless young man, Chester, eventually admitted to the murder, confessed and committed his life to the Lord and felt remorse in the end for what he did. But miracles can happen.
