Some clarity here given some recent revelations... Apple claims the old batteries are incapable of meeting peak performance demands over time. The choice to reduce performance is apparently to avoid random device shutdowns. That said, why isn't this issue affecting other devices using similar battery tech? Are people using iPhone's longer? Either way the argument regarding lack of transparency remains. Here's the full statement from Apple,
Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices. Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components.
Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future.
My iPhone 7 with latest update IS SLOWER than an iPhone 6 with factory reset… I upgraded my iPhone to a zfold5 AND I AM NEVER BUYING APPLE AGAIN.
ОтветитьI prefer performance over battery or to have the option to choose when I want to prioritize one over another
Ответить2023 still doing it
ОтветитьiPad users and pc users are hitting the gosh dang griddy
Ответить1. Trust and Integrity: When consumers buy a product, they trust that it will function as described. Intermittent failures violate this trust.
2. Financial Impact: Consumers spend their hard-earned money on products expecting them to work reliably. If the product fails intermittently, consumers might have to spend additional money on repairs or replacements.
3. Safety Concerns: Depending on the product, intermittent failures can lead to safety issues. For instance, if a car’s brake system were to intermittently fail, it could lead to accidents.
4. Wasted Time and Effort: Consumers may have to spend significant time troubleshooting or trying to repair a product that shouldn’t fail in the first place. This inconvenience is not what they signed up for when making the purchase.
5. Environmental Impact: Products that fail prematurely can lead to increased waste, as consumers might discard them and buy replacements. This contributes to environmental degradation.
6. Reputation and Long-Term Business Health: Companies that sell unreliable products may damage their reputation and lose customer trust in the long term. While they might gain short-term profits, the long-term sustainability of the business can be at risk.
7. Transparency and Honesty: Ethical businesses operate with transparency and honesty. Selling a product that has known intermittent failures without informing the consumer is deceptive.
8. Fair Competition: It’s unfair to other businesses that invest time and resources to ensure their products are reliable. These ethical businesses might lose out to competitors who undercut prices by selling unreliable products.
9. Moral Responsibility: Beyond financial and practical considerations, businesses have a moral responsibility to their customers and society at large to produce and sell products that enrich lives rather than causing undue stress or harm.
Still experiencing these issues - in other areas.
I keep buying new devices, only for them to fail due to normal use after 9 months (two airpods, one airpod pro set), and a few iPhone pro models from the iPhone SE, to consistently updated models of their iPhone pro lineup.
Other than my MacBook; I'm fairly certain I'll avoid Apple in the future.
Snobs.
How tf do people still support a company that does this and charge people thousands of dollars to get a new phone by slowing down your phone?
ОтветитьSince they did this, I've never upgraded my phone or its software, same with my Mac. Apple is the greatest practitioner of planned obsolescence in history of the world.
ОтветитьTim crook aka Tim Cook is still doing this B.S!!! Seems like midway through the current iOS it slows down I noticed my iPhone 14 pro max after iOS 16.5 has slowed dramatically and battery life also this is the last iPhone that I’ll ever get Samsung s 24 ultra here i come
ОтветитьApple is really playing yall! How come you can't have both?
ОтветитьMy iPhone s battery is going from 100% to 20% with in 5 min no joke
Ответить17 headlock down aka Apple penalty
ОтветитьMaybe battery replacement is the solution.
ОтветитьiPhone started to spell like c*ap! I owned i8 and was best!
ОтветитьWow, I finally get it. Basically, Apple is saying, if you want an iPhone, you HAVE to buy a new one, every 2 years.
ОтветитьIn the end I would not be surprised if the updates to older apple products to both run slower and burn the battery faster just to claim bad battery and you end up spending money to buy new batteries each year or buy the newest things not saying they would do that but if they are I wouldn’t be surprised
ОтветитьSo if you reset your phone back to factory settings would that fix it?
Ответитьwhen are we going to stand up to them?
ОтветитьDABBBBBBB
ОтветитьRead between the line, they want you to buy the latest phone all the time.
ОтветитьMe knowing mine is 6s how did he know 💀
ОтветитьYeah after the stupid nee iPhone came out they shut off my back camera now it’s just black
ОтветитьFunny thing is that battery life is also bad after a couple of years. In other words bad performance and bad battery life.
Ответитьmfw finding a wild fan boy
ОтветитьLiterally they just need to sell batteries and make them replacable....oh wait they won't make as much money as forcing you to upgrade
ОтветитьIf I was worried about my battery health I would get a new battery in my phone. keep my phone running how I paid for it to run when I bought it 2 years ago😊
ОтветитьAfraid you lose support from Apple?
ОтветитьI meant my wife..il trade her in! But no! Leave my cell alone!
ОтветитьWish my wife was like that..but piss off cell millionaires ..we all can't afford it! Stop crushing us! See yS laughing..but not funny!
ОтветитьNew Iphone means new contract you pay more. When Iphone is out of contract you pay less! I realize something was up when my Iphone's apps wouldn't work after having the same Iphone for four years.
Ответить2022 I’m just finding out about this now 😂
ОтветитьIs it possible after jailbreaking your iPhone to overclock like on Android? If not, I wouldn’t buy another iPhone ever
ОтветитьSue them to death
Ответитьplanned obsolescence
ОтветитьI choose battery life over performance :)
ОтветитьAs much shit as they get, my dad who was doing pretty messy farm work at the time had an IPhone 4s for years . Thing got dropped in cow shit, water, slammed on concrete, thrown across the room etc... Only thing that ever gave up on that phone was the batter degraded to beyond the point of being useful. I partially feel it held out so long because he never let it update if he had the choice. Has not found a found with the same level of no-case durability since i got my Samsung 21. My S21 has held up to so many more drops on to concrete than id ever expect a non protected phone to endure without a single crack or screen chip although removing the heart rate sensor was a large oof.
ОтветитьI have an iPad for 4 months now
Should I be worried?
they dont let you make any decisions they just throttle your phone and wait for your stupid dingus head as to come buy a new one
ОтветитьApple has been in bad business for a long time. Not surprised to bad I really like the phones over the years.📲
ОтветитьBullshit... if company wants to help user, they would have given a easy battery replaceable option.... there are number of electronics where part are replaced after some time , which is not a big deal.... But they decrease the performance to make your phone hang deliberately... which is cheating a user
ОтветитьScrew Apple. I love their product, but tired of big manufacturers forcing consumers to continually spend money on upgrades! Although my phone is a couple generations old, it’s physical age is only about 8 months, as it was a replacement for a broken unit covered under insurance. Battery is just fine. It just powers a useless fancy screen that I now get to stare at like I’m downloading music from Napster circa 2001 dial-up.
ОтветитьI notice they was doin it when I bought the iPhone 6
ОтветитьI’d have chosen performance, for sure!
Ответить"F" Apple.
ОтветитьLet Apple users have easy access to swap in new batteries and stop cucking users. They’re doing this just to annoy you into spending more money.
ОтветитьI’d rather performance!! I replaced my old phone years ago because I thought it was stuffed!! Give the option like you said!!
ОтветитьWell I’m 4 years late to knowing this which is great
Ответить90% of Android users are not by choice.
We just dont have money to buy apple devices 🥲
