I am of the opinion that manufacturers should produce batteries for electric bicycles such that the bicycle has a range of at least 500 kilometers with the highest support (and the manufacturers themselves can ride those with a range of up to 40 kilometers).

built both and my main draw is electric for say 85% of use cases as 500w or whatever while not much, isn't needed. most guys don't go over 25 on a bike so electric is just practical, however as a guy who builds engines I would go combustion cause tinkering is fun plus im someone who forgets to plug stuff in.
however for something heavy or whatever i would trust the predator 224 i built cause most bike batteries are about 650 to maybe 800wh so in Colorado going uphill id deplete a pack in realistically 2-2.5 hours which again for most is fine. however the predator on the other hand makes around 20hp and 17-18 pounds of torque, and im still getting about 3.5 hours of use per gallon or about 60 to 70mpg on a setup that ive used on go karts to pull 2500 pounds and this is on e85.
so overall if i was in the city or had everything nearby id go electric bike
but since i like hooking up atv trailers or just load up cargo rack not to mention like taking things out to the middle of nowhere im gonna have to go ICE
being able to just put the cheapest fuel and be able to beat the living snot out of something is just what makes it fun. if i blow this engine its not a big deal as parts are a dime a dozen and i know itll start every time. i haven't even needed to tune the carb between the 90 degree summer to the 20 degree winter

You 100% right about both bikes, I have built both fat tire motorized bike regular mountain motorized bike and 1500w electric bike they are a lot of fun, in my opinion there is more things can go wrong in the motorized bike than the electric, I remember the stupid bike chain always coming off 😢 but of course that was my fault for not doing a good job😂😂 Many time I had to carry my baby 😢 the electric bike never let me down, great video, I did made more money when I sold the electric $850.00 1500w the gas 50cc fat tire $460.00
Have fun guys!! Be safe ride professional and officers will let you along ❤ promise 🙏

From the building aspect... I used to build motorized bikes but couldn't do a custom paint job because the gas would ruin it. I also had to dress a certain way because riding a motorized bike has the potential to mess up my clothes. This is not so with e-bikes. Here, in Detroit, bicycles are a big thing. Gotta go out in style.

Seeing the gas powered bicycles are not street legal in a lot of places, Most are two stroke with no emissions control, loud, you can not store it in the house I really can't see the purpose for making them with the really powerful electric bikes and conversions out there most all are street legal . Hell here if you are over 16 you don't even have to wear a helmet. I can keep my 1500 watt bike in the bed room and ride 18 miles through town to the lock head waters on the old tow path take the trails and ride sidewalks without anyone raising a brow. Once you make you bike Gas powered the only places you can legally ride them is off road on private property. E-bikes can share the road and walking trails and are ( by law) bicycles.

Great channel man, but we can not ride that gas bike here in Florida without getting picked out by sheriffs or local cops, impounded and fined. Meanwhile there are ebikes law signed by governor in July 2020 legalizing ebike to 3 classes up to 28 mph and have full rights as regular bicycle. It is the laws that help propel the immense rise of ebikes popularity while gas bike us on the dead. Also all ebikes now even have better battery system than 2 years ago along with legal e-bikes shops opening up around most states. It is the legality that open up practicality and the rest for ebike industry. You have to own and ride ones to really get on it. I love gas bike! But we can not ride out here because the laws , it is not worth being worried to get stopped and impounded most of the times. Cheers.🙏

Your Gasbike engine can last a long time when built… use good bearings learn how to do a basic rebuild… replace rings replace cdi magneto… they’ll last a while up to three years before ya need to replace it depending on the engine some need 1 yr upper cylinder replacement just unbolt replace rings set rings replace cylinder bolt down done..

Gasbike a pollute.but…. A ebike production will cost carbon more than a gas bike will produce in a lifetime.. we see this in cars and the best ev in a cleaner fuel electrical plant area needs about 35k miles to negate the carbine it’s made vs a Gasbike that gets 100+ mpg and can be fixed easy lasts longer an ebike carbon made by production will not last long enough to displace the carbon needed to make it… vs a Gasbike with a high fuel efficiency

If price is no issue, I think electric is always going to win in terms of fun, power capacity, versatility, safety, and modularity/ configuration options. You can build a very fast bike for cheap with gas, but there are usability limitations that make me ask: why? There's a lot of misconceptions about the longevity of bike batteries leftover from the early 2010s tech, in addition to big gaps in product quality and user application these days. Until the past 5 years, there were a variety of things making the batteries fail and not a sizable enough group of riders using the best tech to build a clear consensus on issues. A many of people buy batteries that aren't built right and can't be fixed, many buy decent ones and overstep their capabilities. The base cell today is a 21700 which at a minimum, should be capable of delivering 300-400 good cycles a nominal 25-50w with higher peaks for a full discharge. However, people that test these batteries for use in flashlights etc are able to get much higher cycles with a constant 15A draw. Up to 3,000 cycles of full drain with 50W output per cell until the battery crosses the 70% capacity/ voltage threshold. You can still use the battery after that point but with less range and diminished top speed. On a 72v build it might be fine. Let's say you only want to use the battery until 80% power reduction, that still gives you up to ~1500 cycles. Those tests were conducted with 50w draw till empty and regular charge speed speed. In an ebike application there are a number of other factors that could raise or lower the battery stress, but it would average out for most use cases. Slower charging is good, lower capacity utilization is great - using only the middle 60% of the battery helps tremendously. high currant output is bad but if you have 15A per cell, 42 cells in a 600wh pack, that's 2kw at your disposal -1/4 for bms swing still yields a healthy 1.5kw and most with that pack size will ride much lower. A lot of problems people have a a result of poorly designed bms systems that screw up cell balance, overdrawn cells, and don't perform well at high wattages. Getting a quality battery with a high capacity lets you take advantage of the actual capability and avoid over stressing the cells at high speeds. Let's say you put 1.5kwh on your bike and use 60%. The worst case scenario for up to 22mph is gonna be 20wh/mi. If you ride 25-30mph it's 35wh/mi. So you are gonna get either a range of 25-45 mi per ride, with a bonus range of 20% battery for emergencies. At 1500 cycles, 25-45mi per cycle yields a 37,500-67,500 mi lifetime on a 1.5kwh battery. People ride their bikes hard and get less cycles but even at 750 its still 18-33.7k mi, that's a lot of riding. If you had a daily commute budget of 15 mi, 365 days, you could get up to 12 years before your battery needs replacing. All this to say yes, ebikes are more expensive to get high performance but it can be had and if you over provision the battery, the longevity is there... already. You can build a bike designed to ride in the 20s with great range, lightweight, high speed capability with standard parts. Once you push into the 40mph cruising speed territory you need 2kwh batteries, but at a certain point, why even build a bike when you really want motorcycle? Ebikes are light, fast, silent, configurable into many shaped with good weight distribution, and extremely high torque for the weight. All that tech feeds into the creation of an ideal machine based around what a bicycle should be: Lively, playful, efficient, flexibly terrain, high cargo captivity to weight ratio, stable, simple/ intuitive to control. For me personally, the ability to do torque sensing throttle control is enough to choose my propulsion system, and loud noise and vibration are a safety deal breaker. But even from a position of less bias, the electric route is still more promising. Power density is 85wh/lb, you can build a 1kwh bike with a 2kw high torque motor for a total drivetrain weight of between 16-20lbs. Thats at least 10lbs savings over a gas bike especially included the ability to use a light flexible frame, 10lbs+ that can instead go to suspension, cargo, or handling priorities. If you do it right your setup will run for a decade, and in a decade you will be much happier to have a nimble frame, a motor that works, and a battery that can be replaced with new tech vs having a heavy moto. You are also a lot more likely to be alive in 10 years if you used your max weight budget to build a comfortable, stable, predictable machine than if you built your whole frame around accommodating ice weight, bulk, and vibration. Especially since ebikes lend themselves to low speed offroad fun, vs motos where the whole novelty is zipping down the pavement on a motorcycle built without motorcycle parts. I get the appeal, but to make a vibrating mountain bike safe at 40mph costs so much that you might as well go bigger or smaller. The tech is leading to better places, enjoy the trail.

Thanks for the video 👍Well I've got a build so simple a cave man could do it. It's a predator 79cc friction drive. As quite as a electric bike, and more dependable than all other builds .
I rode it across America this year Florida to California and back 4500 miles 41 days . No special parts or tools necessary. Can be built in any sized town . All moving parts have been deleted .
If fixing a flat tire is working on your bike then that's what my build is like 💯 it has a real torque sensor so it is real peddle assist, not fake electric assist. Works on any bike with a seat post.
Best tank of gas (half gallon) 78 miles worst tank was 50 miles those numbers includ the Rocky mountains.
I have a few videos on this channel, but my main channel is Jarrod D if someone wants to see more .
Thanks again for the video 🙂👍

Ebike has advantages at lower speed. The rider can choose strength of assist. With gas bike, the rider helps to take off with no further peddling. Cheap Chinese engines are balanced with cheap bikes. Otherwise, you are better off with moped or motorcycle. Bike frame is not designed for vibration of the 100 cc engine.

hub motor ebikes are weak until you get to 72volt an 5000+watts, most of the store bought bikes are 250-750watt don't even waste your time, if you want or need to go ebike go with a mid drive at 48-52volt and a minimum 750watts, 1000w is better 1500watts is much better an comfortable, mid drives have the advantage of using the bikes gears to drive it which makes hill climbing an cruising a breeze, YES low power electrics work alot better with gears anyone that says otherwise is clueless!.. also when going electric make sure to buy something that has a long history like befang or cyclone, most story bought bike has bespoke parts they also have a habit of going out of business or being bought up by another that then uses other parts an brands thus leaving you with no spares, brands like bafang and cyclone have a huge(bafang more so) stock pile of factory and aftermarket spares so finding yourself without spares is highly unlikely ... also build don't buy! building will get you a much better bike suited to your needs at likely half the cost, less if you already own a good bike you like............ ps, why not build a tri power ? "pedal", gas engine for long rides an e-motor for in town around people(most batteries have usb ports these days so you can also use it to keep your phone charged on long trips/ camping trips)........
