What song/concert is at the end?
ОтветитьThe dream cast changed everything in gaming.....wish I had one.....
ОтветитьI remember the launch like it was yesterday, I was staying at my friend Mike's house. We went to the mall, walked through the entire store to find the videogames. They had Dreamcasts set up in the middle of the store. We ended up getting one, and a copy of NFL 2K. The same day of the launch we ran back and forth between Sears and GameStop, it was the first time I even knew what a GameStop was and I felt so much nostalgia when I went back to this mall recently. A funny story was we went to a local diner to eat and while we were eating some lady told her daughter to play the basketball arcade machine. She kept trying and it wouldn't do anything. I leaned over and politely advised the lady to press start. She looked at me funny and said that's not how you turn on a basketball machine. I got an eye roll from the daughter, and then they figured it out. They had to press start. Anyways we went back to Mike's house and played for hours. Great system that didn't get the proper attention or respect. I recall Mike had posters of Saturn and Sega stuff everywhere. Also all of his fav t-shirts were from Sega games, and he owned one of the best Sega games ever in my opinion, Crazy Taxi. His parents were really cool too, so they would always let me stay over at his house on the weekend. I'm glad they were so nice to me because I was so shy and always afraid of doing stuff with other kids, even though I loved spending the weekend at his house. I miss him dearly. Thank you for this video.
ОтветитьPeter Moore. The devil.
ОтветитьGreat video/ documentary !!
ОтветитьYou know what's weird? I can't separate the Dreamcast release from the Ford Focus lol. They both came out on 9.9.99 I remember. I was a Freshman in High School at the time and vividly remember that date with those two things as well as the release of PS2 being 10.20.00 (Sophomore year). Despite that I always forget when I graduated college hahaha...to be fair I went to a Junior College for 2 1/2 years and then Cal State Fullerton for 2 years, so the 9 semesters is what throws me off.
Ответитьevery holiday season...here I am enjoying these videos again. lol time is passing and its the small moments of peace and contentment that seem more valuable now then ever before.
ОтветитьWhen tekken 4,came for the ps2,i sincerely thought, the graphics can never get better in the future 😊
ОтветитьI loved my Dreamcast!
ОтветитьWhy I love having a modded PS vita I can still play the old Dreamcast games on it
ОтветитьThese videos hit my feels
ОтветитьThe Dreamcast was super underrated and most kids in my school didn't get it. But I was one of the few that did and my friends were jealous once they saw it in person. Shenmue alone was such a great game but also Sonic was great. Resident Evil as well. That Visual Memory Unit I remember bringing to school and it had one of the first Tamagotchi-style pets you took care of.
It's also insane that people still to this day play the Dreamcast and indie developers still make games for it. People also figured out how to host servers to keep multiplayer working for games that have been out of commission for decades.
Dreamcast will always be Segas legend ❤
ОтветитьLooking back it just seemed abit too ambitious for the time. It’s too bad cause if they had minimized some of the ideas sega home consoles could still be around today.
ОтветитьEven my friends knowing and loving the dreamcast, none of them invested in one because of the CD/32X/Saturn. They felt Sega would abandon software development on the system again.
ОтветитьI played a ridiculous amount of NHL 2K2 on the dreamcast
ОтветитьThat NFL 2K with Terrell Owens on the cover was and still is the best NFL game I've ever played.
Ответитьthe thing that disappointed me about dreamcast is alot of the games were direct arcade ports which had no replay value, played it once and moved on...at least for me. at that time i wasn't too interested in video games so i didnt put much effort into it. i still have my dreamcast too.
ОтветитьThe Dreamcast was underrated and under appreciated in my opinion. It was a concise we didn’t know we loved until it was gone.
ОтветитьA lot of these games were incredible. The Dreamcast was a truly underrated system.
Ответить18.18 anyone see the one "I" symbolism here.
ОтветитьXbox
ОтветитьStill my favorite console ever, I remember racing home as a kid to have Soul Caliber tournaments with my friends, Power Stone, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, MK Gold, Zero Gunner and of course eventually Phantasy Star Online made it an incredible time to be a gamer.
ОтветитьI had a dream cast. We only had one game for it and I do not know what happened to it. Also, we had this game where you were girl and had to dance and battle people.
ОтветитьThere was some fun games on this system, I'm glad I let my kids play it now today🎉
ОтветитьThe Sega Saturn from Japan without the useless american Sega 32X, then the american version of the Dreamcast with the 3DFX chipset.
ОтветитьThank you for your service.
ОтветитьI spent the most time gaming with my friends on a PS2. I'd never be allowed to stay in the house that long at that age
ОтветитьI absolutely loved the DC! I remember waiting in line to purchase on launch day. I wanted it mostly for Sonic Adventure, but I absolutely loved Phantasy Star, and was beyond stoked when RE Code Veronica was released. It really is sad what happened with the DC, it had more potential than it's given credit for. I remember carrying around my VMUs lol. When Sonic Adventure 2 was released, I would carry my VMU mostly to attend to my Chao 😅My buddy came over as I was setting it up, and I remember when we fired it up I said "Here we go!" He turned to me and said "Shhh, its thinking..." 🤣🤣🤣 Good times!
ОтветитьI just found this video.. Amazing job just amazing. Ty..
ОтветитьThe dreamcast was a badass machine it deserved so much better than it got, damn machine was a beast in its time!
Ответитьwho remembers Sega Net ? 😂 going online to play PSO was an amazing experience
ОтветитьReally too bad Sega of Japan always fought with Sega of America it’s like we’re the same company come on
ОтветитьAwesome video, thank you.
ОтветитьMan if the dream cast could have played dvds it would have been a bigger hit . It was better than the ps2 but people bought the ps2 cause at the time it was cheaper than a dvd player 😊
ОтветитьThere's something to be said for the balls it must have taken to launch the Saturn the way they did in the US, but I can't help but feel that if the system was given a normal launch later in 95 with all the launch titles ready, SEGA would have had a much different story. The 32X was their first major mistake, but it wasn't their only one.
Hindsight is 20/20, but let's look at what could have happened if SEGA never made any of their biggest mistakes following the western launch/rebranding of the Mega Drive as the Genesis. SEGA CD is released in 1992, but instead of having almost exclusively new titles, it acts as it's supposed to, as an upgrade, and sees releases of deluxe versions of previously released Mega Drive titles. Alongside Shining Force CD, Ecco CD, and Eternal Champions, other games like Vectorman, Comix Zone, and Sonic 3D see a dual-release, with the Mega Drive having the basic versions while the SEGA CD has improved visuals, CD quality audio, and full-motion video cutscenes. This means the Saturn version of Sonic 3D would never release, with the game instead being a SEGA CD enhanced release. This parity between cartridge and CD games, popular in the West and in Japan respectively, cause SEGA Japan and SEGA America to work more closely with each other, instead of beginning a rivalry between the two that would eventually grow out of control.
The 32X is released in 1994, bundled with Chaotix, and continues seeing software support up through 1996, with early Saturn games also getting CD32X releases, albeit in smaller print runs. The Saturn is pushed back a year in order to make sure enough launch titles and dev kits are ready to go when it comes out.
Saturn releases in 1995 in Japan and 1996 in the US and Europe, with the Japanese pack-in being either Daytona Circuit Edition or Virtua Fighter Remix, both with their original titles but sporting all the improvements of their later releases, and both available as separate bundles. In the US and Europe, when launched in July 1996, the Saturn is bundled with NiGHTS into Dreams and a demo disc showing off Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Cop, and Daytona. BERNIE STOLAR IS NEVER HIRED, and the Saturn sees moderate success in the West, as the continued support of the 32X and the later, proper launch never caused consumers and retailers to get a bad taste in their mouth. Burning Rangers and AZEL: Panzer Dragoon Saga are hailed as two of the greatest games on the system, with AZEL fighting directly against Final Fantasy 7, and holding it's own pretty well, but with FF7 ultimately winning out in terms of sales.
The Dreamcast is released in 1999 in Japan and 2000 internationally, with both dial-up and broadband support available to use right out of the box. Observing market trends and with a higher console budget thanks to the success of the Saturn, SEGA gambles on using DVD roms for their games, and therefore giving the Dreamcast the ability to play DVDs. PS2 still outsells it, because PS2 could outsell bottled oxygen on Mars. Despite still lagging behind, Dreamcast does manage to hold it's own, and roughly ties with XBOX in terms of sales by the end of the generation, surviving until 2005 and seeing fair success in all regions.
please make more launch videos each of the ones you put together are so well made !!
ОтветитьI’d argue the DC was the last fifth Gen console because of the library it shared with the PS.
ОтветитьWe were never able to afford a Dreamcast . Unobtainable. That console blew me away
ОтветитьI was a senior in high school in 99 and I laid out the Friday the Dreamcast came out. I drove an hour and a half to pick one up. I only had enough cash to get it and Sonic Adventure. That was an awesome weekend for teenage me. And I completely forgot about Trick Style and Blue Stinger!
Ответитьto be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will really LOVE the sega dreamcast
ОтветитьPowerstone was probably my favorite overall, and the one my friend and I played the most 👍
Ответитьbeautiful video instant subs immediate like waiting for more.
ОтветитьSomething wasn’t right with Sega’s internal organization. The American division and Japanese parent seemed to be fighting each other on major issues all the time.
ОтветитьSitting here on my Series X laughing at this video 😆😆😆😆😆 Xbox is beast!!!!
ОтветитьGood work
Thank you for making it free
Anybody else feel like the Sega of America follow-up to the Saturn inspired Microsoft at least a little bit to create the Xbox?
