I’ve had my VF8 since Sept 2023 and love it! VinFast has been really good about software updates and bug fixes too. And for those that still think the battery is under subscription: WRONG! They scrapped that program before the VF8 even became available to Canadian consumers.

companies let consumers become part of the R&D process when they practically beg for it by preordering.

Drove the base eco model today and it definitely is not a bad car or the "worst car in America". The design is handsome inside and out and everything worked great. Now is it worth 48-52k to buy? Probably not but here is the kicker, you can now lease the base model zero down for only $249 a month 10k miles a year, making it essentially the cheapest car to lease in the US. The plus model fully loaded is $300 a month. Crazy value as a lease!

I hope you didn't test a car sent to you directly by them because they could have just fixed one vehicle and sent it to you

I was rooting for VinFast, then the bad reviews came in. Disappointed. What really made my support for VinFast go down the drain faster than an airplane toilet was the fact that VinFast threatened and silenced a journalist in Vietnam for reporting how awful their cars were. In Vietnam, silencing the press is okay for them. But this is the U.S., so they can’t do anything about it.
I don’t like VinFast anymore. Period. I hope they leave the U.S. market.

With the worst problems fixed, seems like its identity problem is now rooted in price. My take-away from the second video is this is a competitive $35K EV, and if they price and market it as such then it’ll sell well. It doesn’t look good against Tesla, Hyundai/Kia, Ford, and VinFast needs to avoid going head-to-head. Be like Hyundai in the 90’s (look where that got them), not Rivian (or Lordstown!) in 2020.

To counter the comments of some people who "seem to have Vietnamese names" here, I will talk about the current situation of VinFast in Vietnam:
1. Although not often in the top sales, the rate of encountering VF cars on the road is very high, even in areas where Vin taxi GSM is not available, so the argument "VF is only used to make taxis" is FAKE NEWS.
2. "If you give a bad review about VF, you will be arrested" is the second lie, because there is only one case of being sued for giving false information about vehicle maintenance results. That was a mistake in VF's customer service, but it was exploited and exaggerated by some liars to gain fame.
3. "VF covered up information", this is the next lie, because bad reviews about VF cars were PUBLICLY POSTED BY VF USERS in groups about using VF cars. If they ban or arrest bad reviewers, why do you see bad reviews, even from people who have NEVER USE VF CARS?
4. In VIETNAM, there was an incident about engineer "Le Van Tach" and a T car company. To be objective, you can find out public information on Google about this person and see how a big car company would actually do it. do. Poor guy because even though he raised the right opinion, he was suppressed by T in collusion with the authorities.

VinFast is building a plant in the USA in North Carolina. This could bring down the cost in the US.

I just can not get into the EV at all. For one it is NOT better for the environment, When the battery goes you may a well throw them away as it is very costly to replace them. The materials are mind with slave labor. The torque and instant speed is the only thing I like about them. With that said a am a gear head and love the sound of a gasoline V8. Also as a Jeeper who has driven an 4xe on the trails, I can say I did not like the throttle in all electric mode.

maybe not for the suspension on this vehicle, but more technologically advanced vehicles have suspension components that are controlled by modules which can be improved through software updates.
for the price tag of this vehicle, it should have at least some ability to do so.

The lane switch resistance is a safety feature. Like lane drifting. Shouldn’t switch without using your blinker regardless. It’s a flaw. But a flaw on the driver. Makes that feature useless now. A bad driver would dislike that more than bad one who doesn’t.

i know it's not a great comparison but even on my dads car the 2017 Nissan X-trail STL with the blind spot sensor if you went slow enough or a vehicle was too long it wouldn't register and it's been like that since he had it hopefully vinfast can update there's better than nissan
