I must admit that this isn’t really the type of music I usually listen to. But Nuno is truly a master. And his attitude ,genuine love of music and humbleness is even better than his playing to me. What a great human. The music industry needs more people like this!! Great interview.

Great interview - had no idea who this guy was despite knowing so many of his songs -seems like a great guy thats really down to earth.

Regarding isolated/solo tracks: Good for those who want to analyse things but bad for the music. Plus people nowadays play there own tracks in a way they sound perfect when listened to isolated (and do them over and over and over again and edit and copy and paste ...). Probably that's why music today sounds and is what is sound like and is.

I'm only 45 minutes in, and I gotta comment: he's talking about dark album covers, and about going to see bands (Van Halen in his example) and how that experience is yours, to keep forever -- no internet, no inside information about them, just you and the band and crowd and the "mythology" of rock 'n' roll. That is so totally spot on. My first live music, at age 14 in 1964, was The Beatles. And that to this day defined my life. I can't say exactly how it did, but it did. (Oh, and the second Beatles album, "With the Beatles", which is still my favourite, had a dark cover.)
This is one of the best interviews with a rock person I've ever seen. The guy is a master communicator with words as well as music.

When you get the wings, musics basics, practice, then you fly. You can finally fly! majors, minors fly away! you'll be in a 12 scale of freeness, as i got when i got my first bass. i got a buttf. violin teacher, then a piano teacher same shithead, forcing me to not learn music for years! my 2 perfect song was tsaikowski and grieg stuff. then rachmaninov. then i asked my dad: what about bass guitar? in 45 minutes he bought one for me. next week i foking going with him playing piano.

now i'm set up. i teach bass and music elementary, ask me.

I was thrilled by extreme back in the nineties as a band, but there is one thing I’d probably regret. I knew how a proficient guitar player Nuno was back then, but I failed to recognize how a passionate human being he is about his art. I should’ve keep following him and Extreme all this years! I intend to amend that and keep up with Extreme in the near future!

Those first finger picking chords he played with the gibson acoustic sounded so good. There was a song right there

Mastering more than words as someone who played for over 20 years never once doing any sort of string smacking percussion…. Was probably one of my proudest moments as a guitar player. I don’t know why I never did it but I just never did. It was like learning all over again.

Nuno blew away almost all the great guitar players of his day and presently. So many average players got attention that he deserved. I'm glad he stayed with it and is getting his flowers!
