So I hear there's a rubber belt that runs the oil pump in the engine. Have to remove the transmission to replace it at 150,000 mi. $3,000 parts and labor.😅
ОтветитьI was wondering how this diesel does . Is it like other diesels where they're more appropriate for long trips, like to be driven hard, run hot to burnoff carbon, etc.
ОтветитьWHY DO YOU TALK OUT OF THE SIDE OF YOUR FACE????
ОтветитьTrade in my 2015 2500HD 6.0 couple weeks ago for a new 2024 1500 LTZ with Max trailering and 3.0 diesel. Acceleration better and fuel mileage much better, 12.6 vs 28.5! Diesel cost about 20% more but not stopping to fill up every 3 days. Nice smooth comfortable truck.
Ответитьare you just cruising at 90? then banging up to 110? LOL LOL
ОтветитьAre you doing 106 miles a hour? Or am i looking at the wrong information on the dash😮
ОтветитьWe got 2023 RST Tahoe with diesel, highway millage is insane, on one tank we went on 900km trip and when returned home still had 350km left to a tank.
Love the sound as well.
GM and brakes, simple answer cheap...
Ответитьmaybe it's possible to make it a twin-turbo for more performance
ОтветитьVery curious about the towing loop test and also how you can get 3.73 with this engine, since I've seen no such option right now in the configurator. (I might be blind and can say the GM Canada website is ... confusing)
ОтветитьI have owned both the LM2 and LZ0 and the first thing me and everyone that has been around both noticed is just how much louder the LZ0 is in comparison, in a good way. Also what makes both of these engines shine is just how good the 10 sp transmission is, to me its the best powertrain combo in the half tons.
ОтветитьThoughts on having to remove the transmission to service the engine at 150k
ОтветитьHold up, did you say with correct gearing and set up that could tow up to 13,500 pounds. And if that is the case is that from gooseneck? I thought this was only rated for a 9K at bumper.
ОтветитьGM need to put this engine in their reg cab trucks
ОтветитьDuramax 3.0 is Best. In europe only im live in poland
ОтветитьI have a 2021 1500 Duramax. At 18k mil replace transmission. 20k mil replace DPF system. Since then almost every month at the dealership because the check engine light is on. Most unreliable truck that I ever purchased
ОтветитьI watched a review of this engine from some other channel and the guy said it was slow and gutless. So I bought one, that guy doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. This engine has all the pep my wife's 5.3 had and then some, I couldn't be more pleased. This engine will change things.
ОтветитьI had a ‘18 crew cab with the 5.3l and now have a ‘23 AT4 with the LZO. There is no comparison, the diesel will run circles around the 5.3 all while getting 5-10 more mpg. It is better in all aspects I was blown away when I got my new truck.
ОтветитьI had the first gen Silverado, now I have a 5.7 hemi , Silverado was great below 60, the hemi is much better on the highway. It’s just about what you want out of your motor.
ОтветитьCan’t wait to see your towing loop video on this LZ0 engine!!
ОтветитьI wish they offered this engine in the Colorado. Insta buy
Ответитьlove this thing, made my mind in may that i was gonna buy one, was going for an at4 3.0 but i think an elevation would b better for me has better mpgs ( i drive alot ) and the only thing im missing out is on the grill, tires ( which i wont keep stock ), kalahari seats, and ventalated seats. i could go without them to b fair elavation here i come !!
ОтветитьI had a 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. I tow a cargo trailer and a boat (both weighting ~5000-7000lbs). I now have a 2023 AT4 1500 with the LZO, it is an amazing truck. Way more power then my old Ram and better fuel economy both towing and regular driving without a trailer. Factory exhaust brake helps a lot too when towing (My Ram did not have this). I haven't noticed any excessive oil consumption however I do not tow far (200-250kms each way). The Ram was a good little truck, the AT4 1500 GMC with the LZO is even better. My cousin owns a 2023 F150 Powerboost, and I get better fuel economy head to head doing the same route.
ОтветитьSuch a good sounding engine as well. Can't wait to get one of these after my 2.7L lease is up.
ОтветитьAlex, question for ya. I'm seriously considering this truck for a new vehicle. But your previous video basically told me to expect to separate the engine and tranny at some point to replace the fuel pump. I was wondering if you could simply cut the fuel and sensor lines and remount tbe pump along the frame while running new lines to it?
ОтветитьDoes it have an engine brake?
ОтветитьThe top end increased from the higher peak torque, probably a higher RPM powerband on this generation vs the last.
ОтветитьHave you done a video on diesel deletes? If so can’t find it…. I’d like to hear your opinion in regards to performance, life of engine, and what happens to the engine when you delete. (Irregardless of regulatory perspective)
ОтветитьI love my 3.0 Silverado but I hate the seats , so uncomfortable, also the trasmision acting weird sometimes, can hear clunk and feeling at low speed when I stop
ОтветитьWould you recommend this motor instead of the 5.3 liter V8 as I put about 55,000 km's per year. I have been watching many videos and have concerns with the fuel pump and drive belt to fix within GM's intervals etc and the price of diesel being par with regular gas plus the additives as where I life I can't buy the TOP TIER diesel as they state to use, never had a diesel so very unsure.
ОтветитьThe 3.0 diesel engine will out last , and pass more gas stations than the 5.3. I haven’t heard anything about engine issues with the 3.0. But the 5.3 from what I’ve heard the last year or so was notorious for failure. If I’m going to spend a lot of $ on a truck I need to know that it will be reliable.
ОтветитьIt's unbelievable to me that you can be going 80, 90 and 100 mph on a two lane road and NOBODY is in your way! I have this motor in a SLT GMC and sometimes all I want to do is just open her up and drive, it really feels like the motor wants that, I can't get people out of my way long enough to be able to do that though. It's aggravating.
ОтветитьWhen are the delete kits coming out for these!
ОтветитьExcelent video. Can you please do a comparison between the F150 POWERBOOST(Hybrid) vs the LZO, Thank you
ОтветитьDo you think aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors would help dramatically on the brakes? And good, quality pads?
ОтветитьСпасибо за твою работу очень хорошо и информативно... Здоровья и благополучия дорогой...
ОтветитьMine’s a 2020 with 55k miles. I put a Bank’s Pedal Monster on it and it’s so fun to drive!
ОтветитьBetter than an eco diesel for sure. Do you have any Power Wagon mod plans?
ОтветитьGM said one time they will stop making cars/trucks except HD's starting 2035. Would you say buying HD for say 12 yrs of ownership time span could ensure one would have available parts longer than say for 1500?
ОтветитьYou need to do a towing test video with this engine!!
ОтветитьHi, can you do the engine review for L5P Duramax on 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD?
ОтветитьGetting sorta similar numbers from the lb7 and also lly Duramax v8s with a 3 liter inline 6!? Heck what's not to like ?
ОтветитьI see lots of comments about the exhaust brake and fuel economy. If youre familiar with The Fast Lane Truck they run their trucks through the "Ike Gauntlet" on I70 here in Colorado. I ran my LZ0 and 4,000lb trailer up and down that stretch of I70, 7% grade for 8 miles (13km). The exhaust brake controlled my descent with only 1 brake application. On the way up, i managed to maintain 65mph (105kpm) the entire stretch. Amazing engine. Fuel economy is out of this world, def consumption is a different story lol
ОтветитьI own 3 1st gens. They are in my law care fleet. 0 problems. 1 has 65k miles. They finally cracked the ECM. And can’t wait for deletes 😅😂
ОтветитьI have a 2023 GMC LZ0 with 3.73's . If you are ever in California hit me up. You can take it for a spin.
ОтветитьWhat about all the dumb shit they did to this motor like the starter and chain drive cam it would be a lot better or lasting for ever gears not chains or electric water pump and on and on!
Ответитьno vibration on my LM2.
ОтветитьThanks for posting this! - I live in Southern BC. I stumbled across my 2022 LM2 model brand new, as a cancelled order at a dealership. I bought it on the spot (last year) but now was thinking of upgrading to the new interior (and getting the added LZO). Only thing about it is you can no longer get the 6 passenger format in the LT model with the goodies (like mine) with the diesel. I need this due to the size of our family. In the custom models you can get it still (with the older interior in the 2023 models) however can't get the max town pkg (NHT rpo code) with the diesel right now either - as of today anyway (just checked again). So I was a bit disappointed, however the fact is - I just LOVE the power plant in these 3.0 duramax's. The fuel economy is insanely good. Towing my 8800lb travel trailer, I still get 15mpg towing flat which is nuts if you think about it.
ОтветитьTowing capacity, payload capacity, fuel economy are the key features in a truck. LED lighting, cruise control, and a self-dimming rear view are nice options. Also, my dealer is 40 miles from home. So I need to load a compact tractor in a muddy field, put a couple of giant dogs in the back seat, and listen to a podcast streamed from my phone while I take a tractor in for service and stop in town for beer, groceries, and whatever my wife just txt'd me about - which could be a box of mochi and/or a ton of mulch. That is my complete list of requirements.
Honestly, after Obama stole GM, I swore I would never touch a GM until the creditors were given justice. But, given my needs right now, the 3.0 1500 is a very appealing option. I'll never forgive the bastards, but I might buy one of their trucks. When I look at the GMC version-
CCSB 3.23 4x4: 8800#
CCSB 3.72 4x4 13,000#
The question is: What is the mpg difference? I really only need 7,000# right now. But I'm looking at bale handlers and kinds sorta thinking 10,500# might be in my future. What will the 200,000 mile fuel cost be if I went for the max tow, but turned out to not actually need it?
That is about exactly what my truck averages. I have got as high as 37.5mpg according to the truck on the highway. I have a Denali Ultimate so it has the 323 gears can't get anything besides that with the Ultimate.
