Awesome content so thank you. Such pure pleasure listening to some of the most wonderful, hilarious, funny and beautifully crafted comedy classics of old. Brings back wonderful memories of my youth. Today's life is undoubtedly without fun or laughter the way it should be be. Laughter lights up the soul and brings happiness to all but the saddest of individuals. We need to bring back comedy. Life is empty without fun and laughter
ОтветитьMany of these had better themes than the program content. Unpopular opinion.
ОтветитьAll these British shows were on in Australia. Loved them all as a kid growing up in the 70s. On the Buses and Please Sir, Doctor at Large my favourites. But what about Father Dear Father. You left it out!
ОтветитьNo Rising Damp?
Ответитьthink we ought to go back to a time wwhen we could laugh at ALL our differences and love each other great writers actors theme tune composers story liners ..everyone involved and one more thing love thy neighbour should be reshown so not racist very funny anti racist
ОтветитьMy wife and I watched several of these on out local PBS station. We especially loved Doctor in the House.
ОтветитьIt was the Golden Age of British comedy.
Ответить'70s not 70's
ОтветитьSome truely awful tv show in there, I think I could pick 2 I might watch
ОтветитьI'd love to find a channel that carries ALL of these. If seen some and enjoy them greatly.
ОтветитьIs it just my imagination or were the ladies much prettier back then with no tattoos or other fake body parts?
ОтветитьGeorge & Mildred and Robin's Nest.....but not Man About the House?!?
ОтветитьA number of these aired here in the States: Fawlty Towers, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, Are You Being Served?, Last of the Summer Wine and Doctor in the House. At least two of these had American versions: On the Buses became Lotsa Luck, and Steptoe & Son our Sanford & Son. Plus I think You're Only Young Twice may have inspired our Golden Girls.
ОтветитьOne thing is, what was with all the having applause during the opening sequence
ОтветитьMan about the house
ОтветитьSexist, racist, homophobic unfunny shows. Glad these types of shoes are no longer on TVs.
ОтветитьI'm an American who started watching British comedies in the early 1970s on PBS (no cable tv yet). My first was "Doctor In The House". I've seen 14 of these. I've heard of a few more, but I haven't seen them.
ОтветитьAlas, your "Last of the Summer Wine" intro was not from the 70s at all. Featuring Frank Thornton, it was definitely from the last 90s into the 2000s.
ОтветитьThe Good Life was aired in the US on public TV (PBS) as Good Neighbors. I truly loved that show.
ОтветитьI remember those days. You could watch comedy
TV and actually laugh and be entertained. Something sadly missing on TV these days.
Sadly all too many of these fine stars are no longer with us.
Most of the rest have gone into oblivion, never to resurface again.
I love this. Thanks for bringing back so many nostalgic memories. Does anyone remember a sitcom theme sung by ladies which went like this: 'you win some, you lose some, keep on smiling through the blue some, every day's another day of your life' ? Been trying to find out what the programme is for years with no luck.
ОтветитьNostalgic hearing some of these themes, and it takes me back to my youth. It does make me think though - It's amazing what we used to laugh at - most of these shows (Dad's army and Good Life apart) are pretty cringing to watch now. 'Jokes' signposted about half a mile away and some of the acting (with a few exceptions) would flatter a card board cut out.
Ответитьat least one of those themes got into the charts, im trying to remember the female that sang it
Ответитьgosh. i never thought there were as many as 42. you can't find one decent sitcom now
ОтветитьAh the memories! great video.
Ответитьnot a single example of Northern Irish, Welsh or Scottish MADE sitcoms, yet you CLAIM it's about 'british'' sitcom.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, ENGLAND? eh? Stop conflating things unique and specific to YOUR culture and Nation with the ENTIRE Union you're part of.
ОтветитьMy favourite is love thy neighbour but where's rising damp and butterflies
ОтветитьI’m and Aussie who was brought up by dad to watch and love British comedy and then I passed this love to my son who has a huge collection of his own. Used to watch The 2Ronnies and Dave Allen with my dad as a teenager. Lost my dad last December aged 87 but I have so many happy memories of us sitting together and laughing like mad.
ОтветитьI’m an American and I love “Last of the summer Wine.”
ОтветитьGosh that brought back a lot of memories for me. Some of those I'd forgotten about! It is sad though that a lot of those actors are now no longer with us. Makes one realise how much time has gone by and how one we are!
Ответить5m 15s nonce alert in the baths.
ОтветитьI was born in the 1950s. I live in North America. I see, looking back, how comedies in the 1960s and 1970s did not hesitate to depict older, senior, characters. It seems now everyone is in their early 30s and are very wealthy. Sometimes the characters look so much alike it's hard to distinguish them. Despite being comedies, they 1970s character depiction was far more relatable.
ОтветитьIm surprised how good the theme for Shelley was...the Fenn Street Gang and Queenie if the Castle were very lacking though
ОтветитьGoodness less Z listers in those days.
Ответитьthanks, excellent seeing some programmes i'd forgotten.
p.s. i once ate lunch at the same table in cranks in soho with wolfies mum in citizen smith.
p.p.s whilst it's really enjoyable seeing these intros, it also made me quite sad, great programmes (mostly) and great actors most of which have shuffled off this mortal coil.
Well I still watch porridge ,the likely lads , The good life and on the buses on here brilliant .
ОтветитьSome of these intro scenes were so dismal and grubby looking. Favourite ones here were Terry and June and Two’s Company. The rest I found very unfunny.
ОтветитьAs a teenager in the 70's I remember all of these. Never watched Bless Me Father.......but if I had known Gabrielle Drake was in it, I surely would have!
Nina Baden Semper was the best part of Love Thy Neighbour......take me back to the 70's, please.
Before you were told it was shameful to be British
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic trip down memory lane. Thank you
ОтветитьI was serving at the 'real' Royal Air Force' station where 'Get Some In' was filmed at the time. Remember hearing of the cast and crew making the one small pub just down the road their local. Good times! ✈️
ОтветитьWould love to go back to the seventies, primary school, to the days when i thought the liver birds were the height of sophistication. Man about the house was so progressive and saucy, and the fenn Street gang were the seniors at my school. If i could just see those that have gone, again. Alas........
ОтветитьWhat is it about 70s sitcoms that brings out all the gammons who harp on about political correctness? Literally every single video about vintage TV is flooded with comments about people being too easily offended while they themselves are rage-commenting and being hugely offended.
ОтветитьThe 70s golden age of British comedy.❤
ОтветитьSome great reminders of a great mix of shows of yesteryear. Based on theme tunes ONLY, I'd have to rank my top three faves as 'Likely Lads, Liver Birds and No Honestly' but with an honorary mention to mellifluous and dulcet tones of the great Bud Flannagan for 'Dad's Army'. Thank you to you and all those theme-tune composers of the past who've given us some great memories.
ОтветитьAhh ,the good old days ,happy memories.!
ОтветитьNo man about the house no rising damp no citizen smith no going straight 😳
ОтветитьMy favourite was 'Whatever happened to the Likely Lads', an all time classic, but I fondly remember most of the programmes featured here. They were all far better than anything that masquerades as comedy these days. Good comedy has been stifled by a tide of political correctness. It seem you can't say or do anything for fear of offending some group or other.
ОтветитьSome great memories there . One or two I don’t remember Also . But enjoyed the video . And the trip down memory Lane .
