Nurses who have been cnas and caregivers are the best nurses. It teaches you the compassion side of nursing. I thinks she’s seeing from a wrong point of view . Many nurses that I know have worked as cnas and caregivers .

Sounds great. Been interested in home care but don't want a lot of patients or to b a nurse or changing a bunch of random people. Only want to care for my family. So the way u just described it sounds great for a person like me.

I did homecare work for my stepdad for 14 years not one time did he purposely sit on his backside demanding are making me feel like a slave while I did everything for him it was my job you shouldn't do a job that you dont love . Homecare is not the same as being in a hospital it is totally a different environment even if my dad didn't think something needs to be cleaned and wanted me to just sit I would do it anyway because that was my job. When I was younger I did certified nursing in West Covina I didn't get to take the hospital client to do grocery with me I didn't get to take them with me to do laundry so don't downrate the client if you're feeling as if they just what a maid service or you're not doing enough. Every healthcare, homecare client has a different need more or less it's still your job. Do your job without grumbling or putting down your client. Don't do what you don't love doing.

Easiest job in the world. I like to talk to my clients as they want to speak with someone and become friends as a lot of the elderly don't talk or see their kids at all which is a shame. I even stay longer off the clock. I am a person who loves to talk. If you are an introvert then this job is NOT for you. Mental health is top for me as keeping the elderly happy and conversing is vital. They look forward to you coming every day and making them laugh and have a great time.

You’re missing the point of in-home care the reason they want you to get that kind of experience it’s not nursing experience it’s learning empathy and compassion. That’s the kind of experience they want you to get in in-home care.

It's no better in the hospitals. Actually it's way worse. At least in home health you have some control and autonomy....and you don't have to see entitled CNAs sitting on their phones at the nurse's station all night all up in the charge's face with every call light on the floor going off with NO SUPPORT from the charge or admin to do something about it. It will only get better when companies finally figure out that they need RNs WAY MORE than RNs need them.

I was a independent care provider then D.S.H.S. forced us to be hired by CONSUMER DIRECT OF WA. I have been working for the same client for 7 years always completed my background check on time, like I did this time, but I have been put on ineligible to work status for a month so far because consumer direct care is so far behind doing background checks, I still go do my job though, they said keep track of my hours anyway, I might get paid for it, this has been going on for over a month now, I couldn't pay rent this month and I will probably have my car repossessed, I call them twice a week to check my status, they keep saying we'll call you back, but never do.

Of course you weren’t doing any actual nurse care. You weren’t a nurse. If you were a CNA, you were technically a caregiver. On the other hand, LPNs can do actual nursing skills in a home care setting.

Investigating the managers it's just a lot but it's such a good job on the other side it's very risky!! I'm praying to go to help me with what am just going through about this job but I believe In him he got me!! It's like I haven't eaten since yesterday until now I can’t sleep I can't do anything but I'll get my results tomorrow from the investigation and hopefully, everything would go well pray for me!!

I believe you’re mistaken home care with the kind of job you wish you had. Home care is caring for the person and doing home activities. Like Dusty cleaning feeding helping with bathing, etc. If you’re qualified, you should go to work in a hospital. Yes home care is like caring for your grandma, your grandpa, caring for a person who is in the same situation you will be when you get older. And I hope you are lucky to have help when you cannot walk anymore when you suffer with incontinence, when you forget your food on the stove, what do you need someone because you cannot take care of yourself anymore.

Any nurse who sits and relaxes for an hour during her shift is not a good nurse. And that's what you're saying you do while you're not even a full-fledged nurse yet. I'm a nurse over 20 years and when I see a student or a new hire sitting around instead of asking if there's anything else that can be done, that's the one I pay the least attention to during training.

Sad as you listen to her as if one person just is not enough as she is not getting to provide and Nursing to the poor patient ,But she should of asked for more duties and some patients do need more care than others you can have patients with many needs but truth is most in home health care workers would prefer the no challenge position as this is why they are not a nurse , I sure do hope people do understand there are patients that do require 24 hour care but than the insurance may only want RNs providing the help .......

I work in home care with vented patients, tracheostomy patients, catheter care, medication administration, wound care, IV infusions, IM, Sub Q, glucometer testing and even more than you have mentioned. I have worked in a hospital and actually noticed that the patients I were discharging with home care needs were pretty complex. you did not seem to get a good experience with home care. There are actual issues with home care jobs but none were mentioned here in this video :/

Home Care is a hard field to work in. It’s even miserable in a lot of ways. Certain clients are just plain miserable old cranks who love to make you as miserable as they are and that’s the Women clients. Men clients are better to work with. Home Care Agencies don’t give a damn about their HHAs. No Not at all. It’s a pain in the Butt career.

I was thinking of doing home care I keep changing my mind, I grew up in a small remote fly in community of a thousand people, my mother worked with the local Health Services Authority where she started as a Homemaker for 6 years before she was promoted as the Home Community Care Coordinator, she did that for a year before being appointed as the Health Director, a job she's had for over 10 years now, she oversees the local health clinic, health services, and programs for the community.. I live in the city near by now for school and was thinking about doing home care, how is the workloads? Is it tough? Are the clients mean?

I’ve worked both. My job in home care is to keep people out of the facility and in the comfort of their own homes because when you have 8-25 grandmas and grandpas (which is mostly what’s in the facilities) they tend to get less than an hour of your time in and 8-12 hour shift especially with the nursing shortage. Not all patients in home care are slow paced shifts, especially if you’re a self starter and aren’t afraid to work. Bad aids sit on their a$$ and play on their phones. Night shifts can be slow, since clients tend to sleep, but there’s slow moments at night in the facilities too. Home care might have you waiting a couple weeks for the right client to meet your schedule, but I’ve always picked my clients and my schedule. It’s the most versatile work schedule I’ve ever had. It’s foolish to pretend facilities are the same quality of care because in home care is one on one, but to suggest home care isn’t nursing experience is an insult to those in the industry. We use lifts, take vitals, feed people, bath people, dress people, transfer people, toilet people, help bed bound people, see people through their death, chart, and everything else you you might do in a facility. Ironically, I’ve also had home care clients that were in a facility because the quality of care can’t compare. I tell the cna on staff not to concern themselves with my client so they can divide their time among the rest, which I know they’re grateful for because I’ve been on that side of it too. Go where God calls you, but nursing is nursing, in the privacy of one’s home or in the facilities.
