So I forgot to mention this in the actual video but I feel like people don’t like him because his most crucial dialogue is in weird spots and there really isn’t much of it

Tooru himself is kind of a weird villain. His stand is, in my opinion, the most horrifying ability for any sort of villain.

Complex does not equal well written, intresting, engaging, deep or good, and Tooru lacks all of this qualities.
Tooru as a concept is interesting, but his absence troughout the story, and his lack of personal motivation make him the least interesting villain, WoU is a better villain by himself, by incarnating the concepts of the series, fate, curses, calamities. And i like his resolution. Tooru and the rock humans are wasted potential.

I finally understand why his stand is based off of an Elvis song

I just never liked him. He seemed more like an incidental character and I barely remember anything about him. The stand is kinda cool though. But thats about it for me.

Tooru just would’ve been so much better if he was just introduced earlier so it wasn’t so obvious that he was wonder of u’s user

The "Wonder" in the Elvis song isn't a verb though? How do you misunderstand Elvis lyrics so badly?

I always thought that tooru is menthaly crazy cuz he should have spend a lonely life with Wonder of U being a remote stand who acts on its own with no need of Tooru aproval to activate, so lots of people should have died cuz they aproached him, yeah Ik tooru can be selective on his targets, but Wonder of U doesnt need to ask.

I honestly have no problems with Tooru, he is a perfect character in the story he was in. A lot of people, rightfully so after reading all the previous parts, expect a big huge arc with the main villain being established half way in. They want a flash back, motivation, sympathy, etc. Do those aspects make good characters? Yes. Do you need them to create a character? No. People expect so much out of him because he is the final villain, what they do no realize is that Tooru is not the main villain at all. It is repeatedly stated throughout the entire story that the Flow of Calamity is the main villain. Tooru is that concept given form.

Every single antagonist in part eight has about the same depth as Tooru. They're supposed to be that way. They're rock humans, they only show fake emotion, they're selfish cunning creatures who blend in and only appear at significant moments. Which is exactly how they're portrayed in the story. Arkai created a world with set goals and created characters to fit those goals. You don't have to like but it is no way bad witting.

It is fine if you do not like them, every one can have their own opinions on whatever they wish. My problem is a lot of those people dislike Tooru without understanding what his purpose is. They're disliking him based on their expectations, now what the story itself needed. If he was in any other part he would be a pretty bad character but he is part eight for a reason, he is the perfect character for part eight.

In my personal opinion I don’t really consider Tooru the villian of part eight. To me the true villain was the Calamity itself, which I believe always existed, and was only brought on further by the wall eyes. This calamity was largely why the events of part eight occurred and we see even after Tooru’s death the calamity still exists. So to me the stand itself is the antagonist, since it is sorta the image of calamity itself.

Once you look at it that way there’s no real reason to hate Tooru has a character. He was the finally thing they needed to defeat, but it was calamity all along that they were truly fighting.

The main issue I have with Tooru and the doctor rock human group is that they're kind of brought into the story in a very awkward way and their goals aren't interesting. Tamaki Damo and his crew don't have particularly interesting motivations, but they were brought in fluidly by tying into Josukes past. Tooru's crew kind of just wants the Rokakaka which is fine but I want a different and better reason for them hunting the Rokakaka if they are forcibly shoving in.

Tooru's motivation is to be on top, but that motivation is what all rock humans barring Dolomite seem to want. It's less interesting than any other main villain who has clear wants and goals and reasons to want money and power. Everyone in the world wants money, but what makes it interesting is what you do with said money.

Calamity and Wonder of U are incredibly cool concepts. The fact that we almost get a stand that is the personification of a law of nature is amazing, but the villain who is supposed to tie it all together really fell flat for me. This part would have been really cool had Tooru not been treated as a main villain, and instead we got something more on the nose with the breaking the curse narrative weaved into Wonder of U, but I'm content with this ending.
