The man's misfortune is that he had a match with Ali. He couldn't catch Ali, he literally presented art.

To everyone on this post, most of which are much younger than I, I am so glad you get to see films of Muhammad Ali in the early days. I was a child during the Liston fight but I remember it well. And I remember the photos in the paper of Liston's tattered face. My Dad told us, "that is the fastest heavyweight boxer in history. He's as fast as middleweight Sugar Ray Robinson!" It was like watching a Superhero in real life.

this is a less one sided fight than most modern commentators would have you believe. it was scored dead even when liston quit though clearly ali was gaining control at the end. I think the official story is the real one: liston did not take ali seriously and did not train, went into the fight in poor physical condition (shoulder and knees) and by the time he quit could not lift is left arm properly any longer.
