Nice review...I am running the 40mm M version of these tires on my Ibis Hakka and love them. Super easy to install and great traction on loose stuff. In fact I like the Pirelli's so much, I bought some Cinturato Velo road tires and mounted on my Roubaix. The 28's measure out to 30mm and super easy to install tubeless.

I use both on 2 different bikes. Prefer the 40's for less resistance faster rolling. Where the 45's excel where a wider tire is best such as loose rock on dirt, roots, weeds, bumpy roads, transitions, etc. But most of my riding is packed dirt, grit, gravel made for service vehicles. SFBay area, Sac Delta. Mt Tamalpais, Mt. Diablo, Mare Island, prefer 40's.

I switched the front tire from a 42 to a 50 on one of my bikes and it totally changed the handling in the best way possible which I hadn’t expected. It’s my most aggressive bike and I’d never liked the way it handled. Now it’s great.

Several riders road the H version in last year’s Unbound and had no problems

I run the Cinturato H in 50mm on my HT MTB for gravel/mixed surface riding. Great tire.

If most of the rides are on hard surfaces go thinner.

Put 40mm Cinturato RCs on my Stig. Underrated tire but I think people are starting to realise how good the Pirelli line is. For reference, I usually prefer Vittoria and have many miles on Mezcal, Barzo and Terreno lines. Pirelli competes very well with the comparable Terreno tires.

Between them this and the M version, cover everything you need in a gravel tyre. Very capable on the road too.... superb wet grip and roll over pretty much any pot holes while still being impressively fast. Currently running H 650x45 rear and x50 front.

I have a couple of bikes with the Gavel H in 40's, they are fantastic tires.

These are great, fast rolling tires. Have the H in 40 mil and the M in 45. Unfortunately, they are very expensive in the US. Nearly double what they run for in Europe.

Would the 40c be too much for stock wheel triban rc520 which is 17mm internal?
