I love watching your videos! You’re so inspirational and motivating!
ОтветитьI made beginner mistake and planted my climber 2 ft from the wall. Let it grow two years without pruning. Now I want to train and tie to wall. I’m concerned the main stems are too big to bend back to ward wall. What to do? Cut every thing back to a couple feet, dig up and replant closer to wall, and start all over?
ОтветитьI have three spots I’m growing climbers in the front, this is good information
ОтветитьVery very helpful Thank you!
ОтветитьMy two climbing roses havent bloomed in yrs. I've cut them back and retrained them and given fertilizer but nothing.
ОтветитьThis is the best climbing rose video I have seen. You are very clear with how and why!
ОтветитьI wanted to take a moment and say thank you. I have been watching your videos for sometime now. I have enjoyed them very much. I have spend the biggest part of my gardening life not ever being able to grow roses. My mother in law gave me a climbing rose prior to her passing more than 13 years ago. So I got the rose just before she passed. It would only have 2 cane and only would get around a couple feet and then the canes would die and the next year new canes would grow and the same thing. I dug it put and transplanted it in another spot. A new trellis. And I spent some time following your rose trimming videos. I am happy to say I now have multiple canes, with a ton of growth. I now cut red roses and have them on the kitchen table almost daily. The ones I leave are currently growing up the entire back side of my shed shed. I can not even begin to tell you how excited I am to have gotten it through all those years limping and this year boom shaka laka! Roses everywhere. I feel like a true Gardner now. I have since bought 4 of the at last roses and they are just loving life now that I am more mindful of how to care for them. Again I can’t thank you and your team enough. You all are really an inspiration to me and I am sure many other daily. Take care. Happy gardening. And may god continue to bless you and you family. See you in the next one.🌹
ОтветитьThanks for this episode! I look forward to pruning my climbing rose soon.
ОтветитьIs this a spring time task? Late autumn?
ОтветитьGreat job and just what I needed. Thanks for all the cutting close ups too. Appreciated.
ОтветитьWould love to see an update of this , really enjoyed your video ❤
ОтветитьCan we prune climbing rose in summer too?
ОтветитьAs usual I learned very quickly what I needed to know regarding any and every garden issue ! I was so afraid to prune my very large climbing rose so of course I learned from the best! She explains everything so throughly and easily showing us exactly what to do. The best of the best! I have been gardening as long as I can remember (I’m 62) and learn something new daily by watching Garden Answer! Thank you!,🥰
ОтветитьHey .. do we need to winterize the climbing roses in fall? If so then what needs to be done?
ОтветитьHi I m from Pakistan hunza . I really inspired from ur work .I also love gardening so i watch ur videos .
ОтветитьLove those gloves!…what are they called and where can I find them and the arbor too please…
ОтветитьCan you PLEASE tell me what size you wear in your Falco gloves?? I need these like yesterday. Thank you 😊😊😊
ОтветитьI don't prune my roses. The local gang of rabbits cut it all down for me.
ОтветитьThankyou for this video. I'm always nervous that I've cut too much from my climbers, turns out it's not nearly enough! If it ever stops snowing I'll be off out to get after mine
ОтветитьThanks for the video! We just got an arbor for the entrance of our veg garden and we planted a clematis, Polish Spirit and just picked up a new climber rose, Golden Showers. I really love the color combination. At the vineyard I work, we have the Colette climber too! Such a great beauty! Lovely scent!
ОтветитьHi! I notice on my clinging rose that there aren’t many side shots, only vertical canes. It is a David Austin climber on a tall arbor, so not sure what the problem is. Thoughts?
ОтветитьNice video👍🙏
ОтветитьSomeone on here asked how long roses can live. I live in vote 8b in western Washington and have roses over 50 years old! We bought our 113 year old home 47 years ago and had old rose plants in the flower bed. Two of them are still thriving! Others I have planted and some are 47 years old. We also have a very old weigela that is a show stopper each spring!
ОтветитьThank you
Ответить🌸
ОтветитьYes Roguchi - type 3 - blooms on old wood.....my favorite.
ОтветитьI purchased new David Austin roses, they should be arriving soon. I also purchased the gloves your wearing.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI need those gloves!!
ОтветитьThat’s a beautiful scarf or cowl you’re wearing. Did you make it? Is it a pattern you can share?
Also, I am a caregiver for a 94 year old lady who has climbing roses surrounding her house. I followed tips from a previous video of yours and pruned them hard last year. They bloomed beautifully! Thank you for this refresher video! I can’t wait to get her roses pruned again! Happy gardening! 🥰
Hello from Scotland. Thankyou for a really fantastic video. I pruned my Gertrude Jekyll climbing rose recently but will go back and have another look after all your advice Laura. ❤
ОтветитьThx SO much for this video. It’s 75 degrees and super humid today because a big storm is blowing in. I went to prune all of my roses and was enveloped in whiteflies. I didn’t know I was supposed to remove the leaves before.
ОтветитьThis year has been a heck of a year for our family. My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer. I haven’t been able to get in the yard to do anything. I noticed my roses have buds already and a bunch of leaves. If I’m not able to prune them this year, will it harm the plant? They are 3 years old. Proven winners rose bush. I’m in zone 9a
ОтветитьYou don't cut back the clematis?
ОтветитьAnother great! pruning video. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьObs e pois roses corte 👍
ОтветитьWonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your process for pruning climbing roses. I planted two Don Juan climbing roses last year with some companion clematis and am excited to prune and train the main branches this year. Looking forward to a spring filled with blooms. 🌹🙏☀
ОтветитьWhat a pretty infinity scarf! Is it hand knit?
ОтветитьLaura has all her equipment: ladder, Rosetone, pruners, gloves, RUSSELL!
ОтветитьIt made perfect sense! Thank you.
ОтветитьWhere are you this morning Laura? I didn't see anything posted in community about not having a video today.... and I'll be honest with you, I have absolutely no social media. Maybe you posted something there letting us know that you wouldn't have a video today?
ОтветитьThank you for taking the time to show us where you made the cuts. I remember those roses from last season and they were stunning. When can we transplant our roses? Is it too early for this? I have several roses I planted that have been performing poorly- in their 4th year. I realized last year that they aren’t getting enough sun where I planted them & I want to move them to a full sun spot this spring. I garden in zone 7a.
Ответить💚
ОтветитьI want gloves like yours. Have a few beautiful , but deadly thorny roses. Others ok
Beautiful pink roses Laura do they have a scent?
Thank you for great instructions. I have rambling roses which I have been told are different to a climbing roses and need different pruning. Can you confirm and if so how should rambling roses be pruned? Thank you so much, (am in Australia so planning way ahead!!).
ОтветитьAre you going to do grape pruning?
ОтветитьThis will be so helpful when I tackle our William Baffin roses soon. Thank you!
ОтветитьYou are a very optimistic person.
ОтветитьFrom one gardener to another… Seems to me like you might have to consider adding ONE additional type of Felco’s to your collection… Felco 100’s 😉 from someone in in landscape maintenance … game changer 😅🤣
