5 years late but here’s some small tips: on Joseph’s statue in faiths region you can get a free MBP-50 on the ground, I don’t recommend getting it early but after you unlocked it in the shops you should get it and it’ll become free for you.

Johns region is the easiest to start off with, he by far has the easiest companions to get, grace arm strong nick rye and boomer.

Grace can snipe out drivers and pilots if you marked them and she will hit 90% of the time. She’s also a great companion to be with in a car cause unlike other NPC’s. She has an SMG as her secondary.

Nick rye is a pilot and he owns a yellow plane that mounts 2 50kg bombs (The weight doesn’t matter since it’s only on the bomb model) and a Minigun. When you do his mission to get his plane back you have to drive to johns ranch and that will be an outpost, if you want you can raid it and get another outpost and then get nicks plane of just get his plane first over all, after you land it you have to protect the hanger and his home from enemies but after that you unlock him as a companion. There’s a mission afterwards where you strafe and bomb some targets given by Kim and that will grant you his plane.

There are 4 common types of non special guns for hire in the game.
Sniper
Soldier
Shotgunner
And mele.

But in jacobs region you can hire 1 unique gun for hire. He is a resistance juggernaut/m60 gunner. Like the cults heavy gunner he can tank up a lot of damage and comes with a helmet which makes him very resistant to headshots.
How to get him?

You need to liberate the pinko radar station which gives you both the juggernaut and a non armed helicopter for scouting around. He’ll be located on the first building to your right inside the base.

This will sound cruel but if you want to get the RAT 4, hire hurt and kill him. I know it sounds bad but he will drop it and you will be able to get it for free.

One of the best beginner vehicles can be unlock for free and you have 2 options. Either do Hurk drubman sr’s quest and get his campaign truck “Nancy” or liberty the US auto outpost on John region, you’ll be given a task by Merle and he will ask you to get his truck called the death wish.

The difference between the two is their guns.
“Nancy” mounts a m2 50 cal HMG on the back while the death wish mounts a m60.

There’s an M-60 inside a trailer in the island you start when you wake up

Thanks for the tips, I usually start from faith, then jhon then jacob, but I usually get jess and grace and that's it, jess kills with bow, grace does snipe and i walk into the outpost with just a shovel 🤘🏼😁

NOTE : you don't get a fourskins if you're wearing a very small hat.

Just 1 tip that will work throughout the game and that is buy the $7200 helicopter, believe me, you'll just love it, that's all I drove as soon as I bought it. That will help you kill Joseph Seed in like 3-5 minutes top. Whenever going to an outpost just use the helicopter it becomes really easy.

As soon as you get off the first island, go straight to the Drubman Marina. Clear the outpost, then do Zander's mission, and get the helicopter.

One tip I rarely see for making money is....go to the huge farm in John's territory and u can sit there all day killing cattle for bait and then killing animals in the field....easy mc cheesy😊

Jess blacks perk also makes you invisible to animals. Pair that with boomer to mark animals and the perk to double loot from animals makes hunting easier.

That 50 cal sniper & the machine gun r always my go to's in far cry games cuz they're just unbeatable for taking fools out. I miss being able to run a bow, lmg & sniper

I prefer the MG42 myself. To counter the bad accuracy fire in 5 or 6 round bursts.

A useful tip for starters. If your looking for a reliable car that is fast and quick right out the gate in the game, go straight for the Mechanic Shop in Faiths Region and complete the prepper stash. That car is reliable and fast, and with the right amount of practice and effort, threading the needle in the dense tree areas and tight quarters in certain scenarios can rlly help, especially if your the type to try and run from Johns Capture Parties.

Learned all of these while playing the game. I think learning that way is more fun than watching a video. But I agree with the suggestions.

Number 1 tip to anyone who just got this on PS Plus in December and hasn't started it yet: Do not bother with Jacob's region until you've done Faith and John because the timed hunted missions are a pain in the arse and you can't avoid them in the region whatsoever!

Harvest should be #1. Get your money concerns out of the way early on. Doing this will ease up tons of time for other apsects of the game.

I find tap fire is the best for preserving ammo

Why would you get the animals first? He never says why it’s important. Jess and Perhaps Boomer are the best. Jess is silent and Boomer can walk among the enemies spotting them
