Helmet, cycling gloves, baggy shorts, levis commuter shirt or some regular t-shirt, adidas velosamba. Commuting in a city in lycra is kinda weird or poser to me 😂

Hes like me n its kinda hard to hide my bulge in them cos its 9 inches. I juat focus on doing well n not the looks i get but they're comfy.

i just wear skirt and top or jeans and hoodie or shorts and t-shirt mostly depending on where im going :P
its actually safer and people (namely drivers) treat you nicer
i find being part of the lycra club kinda dehumanises you and is a red rag to a bull when it comes to drivers i see it everyday how different drivers treat them vs how they treat me
like they'll be patient and pass me slowly and widely but then they'll aggressively speed up and honk annoyed at a group of lycralites literally 20 seconds later

I usually prefer casual clothing over bike-specific gear except bike jerseys, whose back pockets come in super handy.

If wanna go further or faster I got my car, and I don't even need to flash everyone I pass by that way. I enjoy my cycle on pavements and in forests. If you feel the need of a condom suit you are trying too hard, please don't show off your genitelia to everyone in public places please.

I would rather wear skin tight lycra and spandex 😂 The neighbors are just jealous of what they would look like in them...

I always thought those road bike cyclist on their cycling wear looks really nice and neat as compared to those i see on the road biking with casual shirts and shorts like me. But I am only riding a cheap steel folding bike and am afraid the look of my bike wont fit with the neat cycling apparel look. But I do wear the padded cycling underwear inside my shorts because god even in short distance the saddle is such a pain as it grinds to your ass and groin if you are wearing normal underwear.

If you use spandex anywhere outside of road cycling, and off the bike - you're seen as a snob. Unfortunatle the road comminity is the least friendly sport community I've ever tried. I wave and get waves back from ALL other kind of cyclist, including electrics, MTBers and tourers. Even bad ass harley riders wave back to me more often than road cyclists. It's the sad reality of the sport - non inclusive. Plus literally everyone outside the sport will agree that you look like a dork on spandex. Women will get away with it, but I will laugh at men who wear spandex shorts or leggins (myself included).

Just do both if you are curious and want to open your horizons.

In mtb this is very true. Lycra and baggies debate has been around for a long time and it gets annoying.
Just wear what you want and let others know that it’s okay to wear any style you want at the trails!

I prefer loose, casual quick dry wear. Motorists seem more careful around you if wearing casual wear. And I can still cruise fast wearing such clothes, well over 20 mph within Zone 2 HR. It seems to demoralize riders who wear lycras when you pass them on casual wear, not my intention. I just want motorists to be safer around me.

I was amazed how much difference Lycra makes even at fairly low speed.

Despite the obvious advantages of cycling clothing I can't see myself ever wearing them. Given this, is there even any point in buying a road bike vs a hybrid?

I have a mountain bike. Sometimes I ride on the road, sometimes on trails. I always wear lycra because it’s more comfortable, it helps me stay cooler, and it doesn’t cause a wedgie. Most importantly, it doesn’t snag. I had pair of normal athletic shorts get snagged in my seat. I hit a tree with my face, I’m lucky I still have teeth. I don’t really care what other people think, It’s none of their business. Side note, there are also a lot of health benefits from wearing compression.

I wear cycling shorts under slightly baggy shorts or mountain bike shorts. I dont race and have no desire to look like a cycling weenie.

I just wear black shorts and bright well fitting blended fabric tee shirts. I ride my ladies schwinn, so I would look ridiculous in kit. I can't throw my leg over a diamond bar. I have to step through, due to hip issues. I ride 60 miles a week and consider myself dedicated to fitness.

Just because Shimano don't make merino wool options - often sized as they are to be neither too loose nor too tight - it's really not cool to make a video with such a definitive title. Tailored merino bike stuff is not expensive compared with made-in-the-far-east lycra, lasts five times longer and brings way more comfort on long rides. It's also a bit less dorky looking..imho

What if you are allergic to lycra?

This philosophy of cycling based on the top racers, drives me crazy.Most people aren't able to go fast enough for clothing to make any noticeable difference.People who aren't fit feel self conscious then avoid riding. Cardio fitness matters more than what you wear. A properly fit bike will do more for comfort than bike shorts.

Literally wear anything it doesn't really matter. Most this shit is for the fad. To be apart of a label.

I do both. Depending on the aim of the ride - looking for nice photo locations and short distance: Shorts. Going for a full afternoon ride: lycra. Going to work: flipflops with socks.
