The 16 is such a contested debated hand....and the mere fact that is ranks as his #2 most important hand to deviate 16 when facing 10 and not hit rc+1 ...frankly tells you the important of staying on 16 in general! Your land way for improvement hitting a 16 only leads to loss.

Hello my friend, there is something I don't understand in the H17 Deviation Chart, I'm confused, if you can help I would be very grateful. You say you should stand when there is a positive running count when you have 16 vs 10(dealer). However, when I look at the h17 chart, 0+ is written on a white background, so it's like it means Hit when it's 0+. I guess I can't read Deviation Charts, can you help 🙂

I don’t get why people complain about the true count, if you know the amount of decks ahead of time then instead of doing the division can’t you just remember which running counts you need to be at? Two deck game means that when I get to 6 it’s a true 3 so instead of dividing just remember 6? Am I over simplifying?

True count is a silly name for the metric, anyone in math would call it per deck count, ie true +3 = +3 per deck. And so TC = RC per deck

I’m just now getting a good hang of basic strategy and I KNEW the most important deviation had to be with the 16. I can’t count yet but if my 16 is made up of like 5, 4, 3, 4 I just haven’t been hitting.

Just wondering if, as Colin says in other videos, you REALLY have to memorize basic strategy perfectly and 20 or so deviations before attempting to card count at a casino?

I'm 60, so even if I memorize basic strategy and, say, Illustriuous 18, I would be worried that I might make an error relying on memory when playing for $$ in a casino. Since it is quite OK to refer to a basic strategy card when playing BJ (and it will probably make you look more like a novice gambler) surely once I can keep a perfect running count and calc true count and have a decent betting plan worked out based on the true count, I could just refer to a basic strategy card and apply these two most important deviations (which provide 1/4 of the total extra EV available by applying ALL the deviations!).

Just wondering if there is any real reason for having to memorize basic strategy (other than not slowing down play by referring to a card - but if you play against only the dealer that won't really matter much) and more than just these 2 deviations (I could get the equivalent increase in EV of another 15-30% by going to a $25 table instead of a $20 table).

wouldn't a + RC for a dealer when a 10 showing be a positive for the dealer to have a hard hand? Other words more likely it is 17 or more which makes it harder to win on 16?

Hi colin, I have a question about the scenario about 15 VS 10 (cannot surrender). Suppose you are the last player on this table, then the next card will either be yours if you hit, or the dealer's if you stand and dealer's card is 2-6. Does this fact change the strategy?

Realistically the most important thing in blackjack are two things I'm sorry three things betting spread deck penetration and running count for my experience trucount ain't nowhere near as important especially multiple deck games if they let you bet 140 betting spread or even one in 20 with three-quarters that penetration true count don't mean nothing

Why not stand with 15 too u would bust with 6 on 16 but not with 15. Does the 5 card on your hand effect dealer chance of busting then?

What should you bet for insurance? Should you bet minimum or bet more as the true count goes higher cause there’s more of a chance the dealer will get a black jack. Not sure what to put for an insurance bet

I consider myself a decent BJ player, but casinos have ruined me. Our casinos all use the ASM auto shuffling machines, so that makes card counting impossible. Those auto shoes are pure death!
