The best if US is willingly inviting Russia helping US to lead NATO, rather than pushing Ukraine etc to join NATO. So that Europe will be united & in peace. Very simple. But why US has not done this? History has proven that Russia always willing to join NATO (if NATO cannot be dissolved) for world peace.
Rather than US alone lead@bully NATO, why not Russia(more legitimate to lead) & together with US lead NATO? In fact NATO should no longer exist when Soviet Unions collapsed.

To be honest I think all 27 EU countries should vote on Ukraine entry into the EU in a referendum style vote since it will create more euroskepticism through transfers on money to Ukraine and free movement of people and by keeping it democratic it could calm those skepticisms down

Germany is atill blocking tank supplies. France and Germany still had the EU embargo rules fiddled from 2014 until this April to allow their arms suppliers to Putin. They have been embarrassed into token help by others. I am worried that if UK tank ammunition is to be supplied by Germany in the future as it means we also will have them deciding defence policy on the basis of selling out for mercantilist gain. For example the German policy of exposing Ukraine to attack in return for cheap gas that was in place until February. France was against Ukraine joining for decades until last week. so I think this is mostly posturing to cover appalling EU core state behaviour.

It would cost the EU dearly and Ukrainian government ,again , will ignore their side of agreements, just cashing in and never being able to pay back their immeasurable debt. They will probably urge the EU to change the membership conditions.
