ОтветитьStarting my blueberries tomorrow...
My orchard and veggie garden is coming along one seed at a time. I needed to own my own property to put this type of work in and now that I do I am so very excited and I watch regularly. I trust what you're saying is true and your disposition is enjoyable.
Thank you so much
I did this two years ago and then this summer the chooks got into them and dug them up. Time to buy some more plants!
ОтветитьHi Mark do you add sulphur to you blueberry soil to keep ph down?
ОтветитьAlways enjoy your videos.. Greetings from Central New York, USA!
ОтветитьThanks Other Russel Crowe!
ОтветитьAnother awesome video, Mark. (Arguably the best fruit and veg growing channel on YT!) Question - is soil temperature an issue for bluberries. I was told by someone who seemed to be knowledgeable that it's a big issue hence brluberries in containers can be problematic. But seems it's no issue for you and the soil temp would be higher in those containers than in the ground?? Thoughts?
ОтветитьHi Mark. I Have one of the small birdies beds. Do you think Mackay would be too hot to grow blueberries?
ОтветитьHi Mark, growing blueberries in a raised bed like yours mate.
Got corn growing in a bed next to them and found out you can't plant together. Got them in different beds but close together, will I have any issues?
Mark, This is an amazing video. You truly covered all the essential and important steps and tips. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьI'm growing pink "blue"berries at the moment. Excited to try them.
ОтветитьI get a bit of sinkage after a cold shower
ОтветитьThank you so much for very useful information!!!😊
ОтветитьIf I repot a blueberry into a larger pot is it possible to plant it a little deeper? Will this encourage either new roots below the soil or better still new canes from the crown of the plant?
ОтветитьThis is great - I have planted mine already - would you say I can just top the soil up with the rose/azalea?
ОтветитьFor those beginners who want to grow blueberries in buckets:
01. Bucket 55l (15 gallon)
02. Soil from a pine forest
03. Mix the soil with pieces of sticks and pine bark
04. Pine bark mulch
Purchased soil is dead soil. No doubt.
Purchased fertilizer is not as good as slowly decaying sticks with pine bark. They gradually give the blueberries nutrients. If you really want to take care of the blueberry, it is a good idea to let pieces of pine bark stand in water for several weeks. As soon as the water "rusts", it also has a low ph, then water them. If you have blueberries in black buckets, they will heat up a lot in the sun and the roots will suffer. Either use white buckets or simply paint the black ones white or wrap them in paper or aluminum foil. One last piece of advice: the more varieties of blueberries, the more fruit you will have.
Failure is not possible with this procedure
hi hope for a reply .... i have 4 plants in a very large black plastic pot.. is this ok or should they be potted individually ???? was not sure...
ОтветитьGood 👍 luck 🤞🍀 from UK
ОтветитьIts so odd to see those really tall blueberry bush, here in Quebec, Canada we are use to see them in the wild and they arent much taller than a cat.
I've heard from my spouse that blueberry farmer torch the plant once a year to spur growth, I do believe her since blueberry do love to grow after a wildfire
thank you my dear amazing
ОтветитьI just love watching your show. I have got a birdies and am planting like mad. Lots and lots of veggies. Cheers 😂
ОтветитьBro i love your vibe.
ОтветитьSuch a complete guide, thank you!
ОтветитьUp north here, they hate black walnuts... (no idea how many I lost to nearby black walnuts when they were in ground.) That is why mine are in containers/raised beds.
ОтветитьHi Mark. Can we have an update on your blueberries please. Love your work
ОтветитьI really appreciate your videos. This one especially. I'm a first time blueberry grower and I've already killed 6 rooted cuttings I bought from the hardware store. I've got two other bushes that are significantly more mature than a cutting but still young. I've been learning the hard way how to do this and I'm hoping a can at least keep my plants alive. Any tips on reviving a cutting that shed all its leaves but still has a green stem?
ОтветитьI knew you would have the info I needed! I bought 3 large plants this year. I have bought so many small ones that died over the years, I decided no more! On the coast of Washington state where I grew up, blue berries thrived. Our back yard was lined with them as shrubs. We never bothered eating them. Can you believe that?! What a waste!
Now I live in a much different climate, where it's insane cold in the winter, and summer feels good when it's only 100° 🙄. I am trying to find a good place to plant them, and now I think I'll plant them in my raised beds! I have to bird net everything due to chickens, hawks and my dang cats and dogs! 😍
Thank you 🙏
ОтветитьHey buds, thanks for your content and the time put in for such great videos.
A quick question if you don’t mind- how do u think blueberries would go in a wiking bed?
First time gardener here. Can I grow 2 blueberry bushes in a large terracotta pot or do they always need their own pot?
ОтветитьGreat content, good advice about combining lots of species, getting a nice big crop off a single bush is wonderful, but then they're gone for the rest of the year. Having a couple varieties keeps the berries coming, which is nice into the fall
ОтветитьMark this is a special video to my hart I grove blue berries and strawberries for my granddaughters they eat them daily so papa can't wait to start having them come visit and enjoy them soon I hope just started them last year
ОтветитьIn my opinion bilberries taste much than blueberries. They are also native to the UK where I live. Bilberries are smaller with a shorter fruiting season
ОтветитьThank you!
I love blueberries. I found one I want to try it's pink lemonade. Pretty plant.
G'day from Mackay Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 mate I watched your video 6 months ago now I am raising 8 blueberry plants
ОтветитьDo you have a variety of SMALL BLUEBERRY??? What is the small fruits that you talked? When I was young, we made camping in the north of Quebec Province and in the woods, there was a lot of small fruits like a fence!! But I want to find again that taste! Help, please!
ОтветитьI had an idea to plant blueberries in my garden bed where my camellias are, after seeing this I just might seeing as they like the same soil !
ОтветитьHey Mark. Love your content and I wouldn't miss a video. I am wondering how these berries are going. Could you perhaps give us a short update? Greetings from the Netherlands.
ОтветитьI thought that they only grew in cold places, now I am going to give it a go.
ОтветитьI'm new to blueberry growing and have 6 plants. However one thing I learned is that they thrive in a ph of 4.5-5.5. Animal manure raises the ph of the soil and should never be used I was told, even though yours appear to be doing quite well. They may crash though. If you sprinkle sulphur pellets lightly around in there it will help lower the ph. They also say the reason you should keep them 4 feet apart is so they don't rob the soils nutrients from the other plants. I live in a cold climate where the growing season is much shorter than yours and I was told to only fertilyze once in the spring. If we fertilyze more than that the plants will try to continue to try and grow through the winter and could kill them. They need time to slowly settle down and go into sleep mode for the winter. Wher you live though you can grow year wide and get away with feeding them more often. Once again the key to having a continuously healthy plant was to grow them in a low ph soil. After a year I am still learning from people in my area that grow them. Next spring I'm going to make 6 square raised beds and transplant them further away from my fence and in a much more suitable soil that will be easier to control them in. I just planted them in a mix of top soil and pete moss. I wanna add in some pine mulch with that and mix it in all together with a layer of gravel at the bottom so the water can drain well. That was a tip a grower gave me that has had over 50 years experience in the next town over from me.
ОтветитьHi Mark, I'm trying to grow blueberries in pots, thanks for the tip about azalea food, I'll "get into it". I've also recommended you to the Newbys (an other channel) re raised garden beds as they are trying to decide on what type of vegie garden to create in their off grid property in northern Portugal, perhaps you two could get together and discuss the pros and cons, bye for now as someone famous once said, cheers!!
ОтветитьThanks Mark that was great info
