i think the point is you have to press a button when the pulse gets to one of the circles and keep going.... looks like it could get pretty tough in faster songs

That's the very essence of game development. You have to come up with an idea and implement it nicely. You say it's 2 hours after actually seeing it. But you probably couldn't find out what "wrapper" around that mechanics people would like, and couldn't create it as well. See Auditorium, nice game as well by the same devs. That's Cipher Prime's art. And the very essence of mobile games today.
