original looks better
ОтветитьI feel sad for radeon users
Ответитьremember guys to update by hand DLSS DLL file in older games the newest when i write this is 3.1.30 and it makes even better job now in metro than native DLSS from 2021 ;) goodluck stalkers
ОтветитьThis is a really interesting study in ray tracing, and the first good explanation I've watched.
So essentially, ray tracing shifts the responsibility of rendering the lighting from the artist to the hardware. Which explains why it's such a harsh tax on your GPU, giving an advantage to those whose graphics cards were specifically designed to handle the software behind the tech.
I already had good experiences with Metro but this makes me want to finally upgrade my PC. Thanks for the elaboration! Gonna be real interesting to see what Crytek might do for Crysis 4! But I wouldn't blame them for focusing on making more content rather than enhancing a lesser amount to cause another "Can it run Crysis?" scenario!
ОтветитьThe Nvidia uses both RT and Tensor cores for Ray Tracing in Metro Exodus , Cyberpunk 2077 , Spiderman Miles Morialies and most of the nvidia sponsocred titles .This makes nvidia faster than amd both rx 6000 and rx 7000 series. If it is wrong please correct it and replay me why.
Ответитьgames these days are increasingly becoming fps on, fps half, fps off
ОтветитьThe eyes were so dark in the previous version. It's a great update.
ОтветитьLooks great on the ps5 and PS store has the game for $9 Canadian ($6 US).
ОтветитьRDR2 has no RT but still looks better than any Nvidia sponsored RTX game lol, they are just trying to get us to upgrade with marketing gimmicks, ray tracing might be good in the future but for now I'm not sold
ОтветитьI play it on my Rx 7900xt 4k max and it looks awesome
ОтветитьI loved every single one of them except the "multiple bounces" of light. One of the main thing that drove me to this game was it's accurate darkness and the overall dark and gloomy vibe.
ОтветитьMetro series is so underrated, so immersive, Metro Exodus is stunning on PS5, having a incredible time 👏👏👏 🙌🙌🙌
ОтветитьA masterful treatment as always. Kudos Alex.
ОтветитьIf only this game's movement controls weren't a sluggish mess...
Ответитьthis is very helpful explaining things ending our arguments
ОтветитьIt's a real shame that most shadows are still baked in
ОтветитьThank you for releasing this in widescreen!
ОтветитьI use CyberFSR 2.1 beta software as a workaround to missing FSR support in this game. It seems to work by translating DLSS function calls to the FSR software. I get a 30-40 fps uplift by enabling DLSS in this game, and this is on a Radeon 6700 XT graphics card. 1440p, ultra graphics setting, Ultra RT, tesselation on, it's 80-90 fps in most areas. I drop to below 50 fps without upscaling on
ОтветитьGood video.
ОтветитьWITH NO STUTTER
ОтветитьI got this natively running on my steam deck but only the open world with mostly nothing in it is playable at a locked 30. Unfortunately if you go indoors at all the bouncelighting is too much
ОтветитьI love how excited he gets about the light BOUNCING
Ответитьthe inside-to-outside shots look like garbage. With all this talk of "it's so much more accurate!!!" I'm disappointed that when I look out my window, the outdoors IRL doesn't look like a supernova went off in the front yard, blinding me from seeing anything.
ОтветитьIts a masterpiece, but precisely because its all so perfect, the complete lack of shadowing from the black smoke column of the Auroura its driving me insane
ОтветитьIt has some quirks but visually it's the real deal. Massive upgrade over when I played original Exodus without RTX on a 1080Ti anyway haha. I've never seen anything like it. It's like playing a CGI film. Truly convincing visuals and fidelity. It feels so weird and surreal. Everything has so much depth and physicality. This kind of stuff is what we need to see standardized for future titles. Also, DLSS 2.1 clearly being better than native with TAA is mindblowing. I feel this game doesn't have a great TAA implementation to begin with. But usually TAA gives a really smooth and stable image. According to the results here, DLSS Quality blows it out of the water. Likewise MechWarrior 5 uses DLSS 2.0 and I find it superior to that game's TAA implementation. But then you have Ubisoft games like Far Cry 5 where the TAA is sublime.
ОтветитьEverybody that reduces RT as "reflections on water puddles", "a gimmick that I don't need" is lost imho. This is so good, I'm in awe.
Ответитьcan you turn rtx off in this version. i have amd gpu
ОтветитьRT is the future for gaming. It just sad Nvidia locking everything behind RTX mostly and AMD version RT lags so far behind. Even RDNA3 GPUs. Nvidia greedy lock RTX 4090/4080/4070ti at insane high prices. 4080= DOA as is 4070ti (Un launched 4080/12 GB). Imo 4070ti = 4060ti at MSRP $799. lol what be. It’s $599 what should been.
Ps5 RT isn’t bad, for RDNA2. But I do admit it’s still kinda meh. But ps5 version metro is definitely better then 2019 version of PS4 version of game.
This video made me think, much as Nintendo likes to keep things simple hardwarewise, what ray tracing we could expect from them in their ext console? Because it seems like it's both going to be required for common game engines (Unreal 5, Nanite, Lumen) and Nvidia's going to want to sell them on something? Curious are to speculate. Good enough ray tracing potential, but affordable.
ОтветитьConsoles should be pushing this tech at instead of 4K, or at least give the option to have this level of RT at 1080p, its way more important then resolution or 120fps.
ОтветитьJust got the game on my rtx 2060 and it runs at a rock solid 60fps, how can they make ray traced GI run so well ?? I find it mind boggling
ОтветитьI have a very shitty laptop. I haven't ever played anything at 60 fps let alone on ray tracing. The next few days my brand new rig with RTX 3060 ti will be arriving home. I can't wait to enjoy this beautiful game at max setting and RT!
ОтветитьSee how well this runs and no we can t get Portal with RT to run well 🤔
ОтветитьWould love to see this version on Series X or PS5 with additional content.
Ответитьhmm its almost ironic, that this game has the heaviest RT implementation, but also runs the best.
ОтветитьDualsense is STILL broken in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition after more than a year. The triggers don't work with the workbench and journal UIs.
ОтветитьThis Game Proves the PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X Consoles Are absolutely capable of incredible graphics including the full suite of Ray Tracing including lighting while also having 60fps even in such a visually impressive large open world environment which is basically saying all these half assed devs lately pushing game’s like Gotham Knights or Plagues Tale Requiem both @ 30fps is ridiculous!
Metro Exodus pushing 60fps dynamic 4K Resolution with Ray Tracing enabled is nothing short of a testament to how capable these Machine’s are in the hands of talented developers who are willing to put in the time, and effort @ pushing optimization !
At Night everything is so bright with RT. Is there a workaround?
ОтветитьTake a shot every time he says bounce
ОтветитьI YUST platinum enhanced edition yesterday Oo man what a great game I mean all metro games and books are soo mmmm I wana more can't wait for a new metro game ❤️✌️
ОтветитьAfter 30+ hours my only complaint with Enhanced edition is it breaks the Night vision goggles.
Even in the darkest scenes it's often too bright to use them. Only a few very very dark indoor scenes is it possible to see with the new lighting.
But with those areas being brighter in general there isn't a need to use the goggles even in those areas.
This game looks amazing. I also loved the story and the little side missions, I was hooked.
ОтветитьGreat game but the "apply changes" take absolutely forever. Ridiculous programming.
Ответитьnot worth the money, simple as that!
ОтветитьHey Digital Foundry, I know this is an old video but I have a major issue. The problems with DLSS (and TAA, for that matter) come when the picture is moving-- yes it can resolve a static image very well, but I'd really appreciate more comparisons in motion! Thanks, love the channel!!!
ОтветитьI think this game really shows what is possible when the whole art direction is re-thought with raytracing in mind. A really great showcase of the future. Some other comment mentioned how RTGI that sophisticated looks rather off, because we're used to what baked lighting looks like from all those years and I think they're right. In any case, I'm playing this game on a 10600K with an RTX 3070 OC-ed with the following settings at a locked 4K60fps, with dips down to 40 in lush vegetation: Ultra Preset/Normal RT/Raytraced Reflections/Tesselation, PhysX & HDR on/VRS Off/DLSS Balanced. I think Alex's settings will never dip below 60, but I have yet to encounter dips like I've seen them in the benchmark (maybe when I actually visit the Taiga region I will rethink these settings) and I made the tradeoff to see all the next-gen features for the price of some frames in certain situations, which is still considered a technically playable experience by most people .
