#7 People who struggle with insomnia, if you can’t sleep now DO NOT get any kind of bird. They’re all noisy.

I’m 16 and I’ve been around birds for awhile now- my grandma has a 17 year old African grey and we socialize and hang out with her a LOT - she is not considers a bird really and is treated like a spoiled person😂 I’m thinking about saving money to get my own pet but I’m not quite sure what’ll suit me, I’ve always wanted a bird but I’m afraid becouse of school and regular life like work that the bird wouldn’t get enoguh love and would grow to hate me

If Patrick can make a rock as a pet work I can too! I love birds, but I don't plan on adopting since I'm unfortunately not in the best financial area of my life. One thing I do instead is volunteering at rescue and rehab centers for birds! It's a great way to be near them and also have the opportunity to help someone out!

I'm 14 (as of now) And I'm planning to get a bird around 16 years old, I've been around Birds Alot, when I was little there were birds in the house, cuz my Grandpa owned birds (2 Umbrella Cockatoos, 2 Gold Collard Macaws, 1 Parakeet, 1Cockatiel, and 1 Blue Fronted Amazon)
I have lots of time on my hands, Plus I'm homeschooled so if I do get one when I turn 16, then I won't have to worry about not being there during school hours.
I have always been close to birds more than dogs. The first bird I'm planning to get is a Budgie.

I wonder if birds are considered to be wild and undomesticated animals. Maybe that’s why they are hard to have as pets. Perhaps they were not meant to be kept inside a house and that’s why they can exhibit crazy behavior?

My little conure is an ideal traveling companion for me. While I do work long hours, he has an entire semi truck to fly around in, and often prefers to curl up right behind my head and either preen my hair, or nibble on my hat or earrings. I also have multiple perching areas set up for him, and he throws an absolute tantrum if he can't sleep with me, which I find adorable. He's a snuggler, and loves people in general. His favorite activities include chewing on his toys, crapping every 10 minutes (baby wipes are a god send), and bathing in his dog bowl bird bath.

I ended up getting my cockatiel from a woman who no longer had the time. She hatched it herself, had her for 18 years. Poor bird must be heartbroken having to leave her home an owner after so long ☹️

I've had her about two months now, we are slowly getting closer daily but it hasn't been easy by any means

But I have had a bird before and I'm also autistic and i hyper focus and iv done so much research its disgusting all the way to body language i love it.. and I'm getting my bird tommorow after getting a set up going and doing so many much questions.. I'm super happy to have a bird friend again to play and learn with.

Maybe the right type of parrot I dont have any bird experience but with Dogs I stay way from dogs with dominance issues they piss me off and I know some breeds of parrot are calmer than others. Typically I am Chug and Siamese cat person but can also deal with Rottweilers and energetic herding breeds. Then of course its parrot crap cleaning and they probably need expensive vet visits. I would say they look to be harder to keep than cats or dogs but not as hard as exotic snakes like Emerald Tree boas which are a 24/7 infection prevention nightmare.

Flying fids! I have a big question.. I'm currently buying all the necessities for my soon to be pet Conure bird! The person I'm trying to buy it off keeps saying that all the cages I've found are no good to a small / medium sized parrot like a Conure bird. He is insisting I buy a 50cmx50cmx70cm cage of him with 1.5cm gap spacings. In the situation I'm in, I understand he is the professional, but after all the research I've done I feel like I'm getting scammed because I thought that cage would be to small with too big gap spacings? The cages I've found are 65cmx65cmx80cm with 1.3cm gap spacings. I would rather put my trust into you because you are someone I look up to. So where am I going wrong? Or am I being scammed..? (both cages are stainless steel)

The title says "BIRD" yet you specify parrots
since by going by "BIRD" your excluding fowl which are alot easier to take care of so if you want a bird i suggest getting a type of fowl

Hi I need help with advice on my conure. I’m a stay at home single mom living with my father and grandmother. My dad bought my conure, Lennon, for me 2 years before I got pregnant. The pregnancy was not planned or expected for atleast 10 years. Once I got pregnant and had my son, I asked my dad to take responsibility over her since she enjoyed being around him as well. I’ve found he wants to spend time with her but doesn’t have the actual ability to. It’s caused her to be aggressive biting me really hard if I go see her which I understand because she could be upset with me. My son is 10 months now and I really want to reconnect with her and have her with me all the time. Especially since I’m home all the time. I’m afraid to hold her because of the last biting, and it gives me anxiety with my son. My dad will not let me Rehome her, and I don’t want to but I’m willing to for her to have a better life if it’s the only option. He literally will not let me though. So I want to take the responsibility back and rebond without my son getting bit. Please give me some advice.

I am a 3D animator and a graphics designer I thought working remotely from home will help my bird observe me even more considering doing animation and work from home is time consuming but atleast a bird I will get when I move out will hopefully trust me.

Even though I have autism/aspberger. I am still willing to try to put my focus on birds And bonding. I used to have two parakeets they were so cute. My biggest mistake at the time when I was young was lending my pet birds to my other family who aren't educated enough about taking care of birds and never told me the painters were gonna paint the walls. Even though I was young and it was not my fault I still feel guilt every year

I am currently 19 now and I am determined to bond with my bird when I move out

I’m 12 and got a bird for my birthday a couple weeks ago and anytime I do research my family always try fighting it just so they don’t have to do stuff like letting her in my moms room when someone is cooking and they try to tell me the opposite of what I say like when I was trying to find out her gender I looked it up and they would tell me that she wasn’t a girl they got her a really small cage and 1 toy and whenever I bring up buying a bigger cage and more toys they bring up how it’s a small animal and doesn’t need space and they scream at her when I place my hand in her cage which scares her then she doesn’t let my hand near her for a while

I feel so bad for my old budgie!
My parents just bought a bird randomly and a tiny cage plastic food and water bowls plastic perches and 0% toys and he was very aggressive and never got out of his cage and bite very Hard like bleed hard!, I wasent ready at all! I didn’t know that he needed a big cage or toys I thought he was having a happy life!
So he ended up dieting 6 years later, he died 2 days ago 😢! It was sad, and I watched all of ur videos and did my research and got another bird yesterday! He’s a green budgie and he doesn’t bite at all!
You can grab it hurt it full it’s tail hit it- he doesn’t budge (i would never do that to my bird I would never ever purposefully hurt him or go out of his comfort zone)

Unfortunately the aforementioned people are usually the ones that don't acknowledge the flaws they have which make them unsuitable to own birds. I once had a friend that did almost everything wrong that she possibly could. The only positive thing was that she kept them (several birds, but not all at once). in a large enough cage. However she was very impatient so none of her birds were ever tame, instead they were very anxious and aggressive towards humans. They also kept very large dogs in the house that barked at those birds so they must've been constantly scared. She bought her birds at uncertified breeders and took them home before they were 6 weeks old and bottle feeded them herself (which is illegal in The Netherlands) so one after the other ended up with sour crops. The ones that did survive all this never left the cage because she never had time and was convinced 'that the toys did their job'. As a cherry on top she always fed them treats like nutriberries 'because that's what they like better than their normal foods and it makes them happy' and refused to give them grit or gravel because "humans don't eat that either". None of her birds ever survived their first year, while some of the species she had could've reached 30 with ease if she had taken better care of them.
