That is hitting the nail on the head in terms of why I used to start projects late I ended up getting to be on it realize it wasn't so hard and I should have started sooner but once I started I really had trouble stopping cuz I was so focused on it that's why I didn't want to start sooner in the first place. Quite right.

I thought I was a genius for figuring this out.. but other ADHDers have also discovered this 👌🏽 it’s the only think that works.

Thanks to military style upbringing I learnt how to force myself into focusing by making it “interesting” for me. And so I’ve had more than one burnt out in my life. A state of overwhelm and exhaustion is very real. 😢

I was using pomodoro sessions before I was diagnosed with adhd in 2019. They always helped me out and now I see why!
Lately I've been struggling with my tasks and such and getting things done. I've been putting myself under a lot of stress. But I'm going to trying using pomodoro sessions again and see if that solves it!
Thank you so much! Much love

Kahn academy helps me with studying and school it’s free the reason why I like it is because it has what I like to call: JuIcE
When you complete a round you get like a XP things bright lights blue and other shaking when you do something right get a red screen when you fail and it shakes left to right like a form of disapproval and other stuff like that

This is the first time i feel like I'm being heard. 😢.. I have wonderful people in my life, i used to be a topper in school, but now im such a mess.. because of my school records, everyone have high expectations from me. But deep down i know, i cant achieve anything, because i plan things, it takes 4 to 5 days to start something, then i hyper focus on that day. Then after 5 or 10 days i get back on that project. I procrastinate more if i get more time. I feel like i can do this easily and actually took days to complete the task. Simpler tasks like washing clothes etc are getting procrastinated, i dont know i mindlessly wander in some world. I thought phone was my problem, but even without phone it was still the same. I start something, i do it religiously for some time then i quit it. You have to see my journal, to know how many routines i have created to suit myself. But i didn't even last for a month. I tried pomodoro app and ended up switching it off.. i think im hopeless😢😢

Hm. Feels a little ironic I’m watching this.

I was even distracted by this comment because I thought it while I watched the video and had to type this out NOW. Then I rewatch the video because I didn’t learn the first time to pay attention and learn about getting more accomplished while procrastinating said accomplishments 🫠🫠

Celiac disease is very common with people with ADD or ADHD. Once you eliminate the glutten in your diet, your symptoms in both cases improve significantly.

Personally I’ve really struggled with the pomodoro technique. It can be difficult to even get the timer out cuz I just really don’t want to start, and I end up not really perceiving the 25 minute deadlines as “real” because I know the actual deadline is further back. The 5 minute breaks don’t motivate me enough for me to see them as a reward, and I end up just ignoring the pomodoro schedule, still procrastinating, and feeling worse about it :/

Recently some people told me that i have ADHD, i was always very hesitant to self diagnose but i always assumed that it might be true. It's so funny cause a lot of the things you say make 100% sense and already use pomodoro and its the only thing which helped me to do things.

My newest one that has been effective is, after it occurring to me that “I should blah blah” , as soon as my mind attempts to push it off, I retort to myself that “you thought of it now” (who knows when I may think of it again) and so I just do it. That’s actually been very effective, and not once has it caused a problem that took the extra few minutes to finish whatever, in the “now” that it occurred to me.
The other one I’ve been using, I stole from a motor trend show about hot rods. A customer brought them a beautiful 1968 chevelle that was already done, and the owner wanted some structural changes, different color etc…. None of builders wanted to cut into this car and they stalled on it for several days it seemed, until one of them stated “well, we’ve done talked about it, let’s spark it up and get it behind us!” as he fired up the cutting torch. (And yes, the end result was amazingly even more stunning)That’s been working real well for for me for starting the overwhelming thing, because usually by then I’ve spent more time avoiding the overwhelming thing than it would have taken to either just do it, or to have done a “bite of elephant” sized piece.
I’m 63 and only in the last 2 years have I been diagnosed as ADHD. A 37 year technical career later and a lifetime of beating myself up for being lazy, unfocused, and substandard. With what I’m learning now, I’m amazed that I got anything done. And finally learning to have a little grace with myself. That’s a weird feeling.
But, that’s my nickels worth. And remember, you get what you pay for…lol

So basically forest app. That I have been using. And yes it helps me get things done. Just open the app and get to work it's that simple. But the problem is I procrastinate opening the app. Because I know that means I'll have to do the work now. So imma just not now it.
