Of course the Council chose Orion. If you asked a slaver if he wanted a president that would kill them, or one that would gently, slowly dismantle their power of ownership over many years who wouod they choose? It's not a matter that Orion was better, he was just the less bad option.

you missed one. after prime there was a cameo in i think the combiner wars [the name of the anime] where he fought beside optimus to defeat starscream. then went back into exile [so did optimus].

Man... the stories from the retro comics were just awful...

Prime, Animated, and now Earthspark have my favorite incarnations of the character. But I especially love the Unicron trilogy one for the wrong reasons. He's just so EVIL in it and gets progressively worse and worse as the trilogy progresses to the point where you celebrate when he's finally put down at the end of Cybertron. It's amazing how crazy he gets in that show alone, going from traditional evil to borderline godly

The best Megatron are Armada, Cybertron, Animated and Prime. (That’s my opinion)

G1, then Prime are my favorite "Buckethead's"

In Transformers animated, Megatron was voiced by Corey Burton. Because He's a good voice actor and his voice is awesome.
In Transformers: Armada, Energon, and Cybertron, Megatron was voiced by David Kaye. David kaye also voice of Hardshell and others.

I personally prefer Megatron to have a Cybertronian alt mode (maybe even both an aircraft and tank if the current series is comfortable making him a triple changer) because it would fit Megatron to simply not care about having an earth disguise and not wanting to lessen himself with an alt mode based on "inferior human technology". Plus, with all the Cybertronians rolling around in the forms of common cars, trucks, motorcyles, jets, and so on, you gotta have at least a few that stick out more than others.

I'm sorry but for me Megatron has always worked better as a tyrant and a Decepticon leader, seeing him changed into anything--but a Decepticon never felt genuine, which is why I practically ignored every iteration that tried to make him some kind of good guy or protagonist, it just never really worked, I mean were talking about a guy who literally attempted multiple times to kill humans and even his own faction members all to achieve dominance, it's also why I dislike the recent new addition transformers series featuring him and Optimus as friends, it just doesn't work, it's like saying Batman and The joker become friends, or Superman and lex luthor, or Spider-Man and the Green goblin, every hero needs the perfect antagonist, and that's what Megatron has always been meant to be. Period.

Honestly, i would LOVE to see Megatron become a Railway Gun, still a gun in a way, but doesn’t haft to rely on mass-shifting.

I may be biased, since Transformers Animated was my first exposure to the Transformers franchise growing up, but the Megatron from that show will always be my favourite incarnation. The design is great, giving the G1 design a more militaristic feel with a cool twin-rotor helicopter alt. mode, he has a commanding presence like almost no other version of the character, he's cunning, powerful, intimidating...and Corey Burton's performance is simply delicious ear-candy.

No matter the continuity, Megatron's usually been one of the most consistently entertaining characters, and one of my favourite villains of all time. From his imposing presence on the battlefield, the firepower of his iconic Fusion Cannon, and his constant squabbles with Starscream, to his cunning and wit, his backstory as a well-meaning revolutionary driven mad by his own lust for power, and his rivalry (and sometimes even love-hate relationship) with Optimus Prime, each series brings something interesting to the table. Megatron commands both fear and respect, through his combined power and intelligence - he's got a massive gun, and he knows where to point it.

In the words of Frank Welker himself in his iconic role,
"Power flows to those who know how. Desire is not enough."

and now Megatron works alongside humans and Autobots, sporting a big "M" on his chin lol... My, how far have the mighty fallen...

If megatron isnt Orions friend then no reason to be obessed and his way of calling Optimus prime every time they meet, him sparing/explaining plans to optimus

I hope he continues on like this if we ever get a sequel for Transformers Rise of the Beast

I find the origin stories of the Decepticons more interesting than the Autobots. Megatron is actually a former slave who just had enough and decided that he had to take things into his own hands if he wanted to make a change.

Megatron is one of the greatest villains of all time. The Bayverse and TF Prime versions of Megatron are the best.

Why wouldn’t transformers prime megatron have a design from transformers animated megatron cross between earth mode and cybertronian mode he had with transformers movie megatron counterparts he would look different than tfp megatron design

I found a toy up 2001 megatron in robots in Disguise.

Megatron is one of my favorite Decepticons. Back then, I thought it was cool when he transforms into a gun. You really can't play with a gun due to the ban on toy guns that look like the real gun, like cap guns. I'm happy with Transformers siege Megatron toy that transform into a tank. Made a few minor custom job to look more Earthlike.

Could you imagine a MEGATRON who starts out evil, creates the DECEPTICONS path as a Tank, w/ his Classic Head Design, While His Upgraded, & Turned Heroic AUTOBOT Self looks has a Neo Look. Having the body of TRANSFORMERS ENERGON'S MEGATRON, but with the Head Design Of TRANSFORMERS CYBERTRON'S MEGATRON. MEGATRON Returns in this Neo Form to help The AUTOBOTS defeat 2 threats, a Clone of his former self, & UNICORN'S GALVATRON who has the body of TRANSFORMERS CYBERTRON'S MEGATRON Body, but with the Head Design Of TRANSFORMERS ENERGON'S MEGATRON Head. The Heroic AUTOBOT MEGATRON, explains his New Form is from being fused with a dying AUTOBOT Ariel Bot, after seeing a ghost like face of PRIMUS, & the next thing he knew he became sane. Seeing he was way wrong, how he needs to take actions that are similar to that of OPTIMUS PRIME'S, but as a Bot Of Strategic Action, & Negotiating A Good Compromise. The 1st to allie themselves to The True, & Newly Improved MEGATRON Are SOUNDWAVE, REDWING, ACIDSTORM, & STARSCREAM'S Twin Sister As New AUTOBOT Allies, & Mainly Following MEGATRON'S Orders. If MEGATRON Says "Do it", or "Do As He Says" that's MEGATRON'S Agreeing W/ OPTIMUS PRIME'S Orders, But If MEGATRON Says "No, We Need To Do (This) Instead.", They Do What MEGATRON Suggested As An Order, W/ SOUNDWAVE As MEGATRON'S New 2nd In Command, Cuz STARSCREAM'S Allied Himself W/ GALVATRON, but STARSCREAM Eventually Gets Destroyed By GALVATRON..

Megatron from the High Moon games is massively underrated as far as more modern incarnations go. They really went hard with depicting him as someone who was simultaneously drunk on power and desperate to bring an end to the Great War even if it meant dooming the entire Cybertronian race. Two bits that live rent-free in my head are when he first gets a taste of Dark Energon in War for Cybertron, and in Fall of Cybertron where he immediately reclaims his throne from Starscream after Soundwave rebuilds him.

I would give anything to get a movie with megatron as the protagonist, and I don't mean a cheasy anti hero movie like venom or black adam, I'm talking a villain movie like joker, showing his rise to power and ending with the beginning of the war

Starscream will always have a place in my heart.

I think it’s interesting how the depiction of Megatron has evolved from a megalomaniacal dictator to a misguided but well meaning revolutionary. He’s really a bad guy who’s very creatively malleable.

Megatron's design and voice in Prime are perfect, it takes everything good about most of his designs and rolled them into one, and the voice is a nice mix of Hugo's and Frank's G1

i am a bit of a sucker for transformers animated design , also like i his voice , thought transformer earth spark megatron has become on e of my favorite , it just seams fitting for megatron to change from a tyrant to a brother in arms with optimius or to even have a deeper relation ship ,

Megatron is like #2 on my all time villain list, second only to Darth Vader lol. His role in the IDW comics is absolutely AMAZING!! Great arc for the character that basically started a war for equality only to become corrupted by the power he tried to end. No spoilers but seriously, do yourself a favor and go read the comics. All of em if you can.😂
