Naturalization Ceremony at Great Sand Dunes NPP

America's national parks are far more than scenery - they hold many stories of our struggles and our triumphs. One of the least-known but most inspiring events at Great Sand Dunes this year was the Naturalization Ceremony for New U.S. Citizens. These men and women studied for a number of years to learn our nation's history and laws, showing their willingness to become a vital part of this nation founded on these principles: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." (Declaration of Independence, 1776).
