You can look at stats for asset groups, just click on table in the top right corner next to summary. It'll show you all your metrics for each asset group. Why this isn't the default view is anyone's guess.

This is really high value content, I'm always so suspicious when I switch on a PMAX campaign as it literally freezes the other campaigns in the account that are working just fine. Very horrible feeling.

You can find the asset group performance at table view.

Switch to table view and choose the required matrix.

I'd like to add that we can actually see the performance stats at 'Asset Group" level within the dashboard. You just have to click on Columns button at asset group level.
Also, you can use Mike Rhodes's script to see the breakdown in more details.
