Imagine what could have been if they would have went back to the basic business model. Quality products (that people actually want) Low prices. This is what happens when you turn your back on reality.
ОтветитьI just remember the “JC Penny one day only sale” which seemed to happen every day.
ОтветитьWell it still exists
ОтветитьA year later, and JCPenney is still ... HERE! The CEO know NOTHING how to run a Retail store. Gratefully, he was fired in time. Or JC could have ended up like Sears.
ОтветитьYo, I saw my malls JC Penny in the video. Epic fr :)
ОтветитьI love your intro! Did you by any chance lightly base it off of the intro from American Greed? I have fond memories of watching it with my dad as a kid- as you can see I was prepped from a young age to love this content😂
ОтветитьMy grandma loved JC and my Grandpa loved Sears.. they both have lived long enough to see them be founded and close. Although Sears is still going and who knows.. Toys R us came back so 🙂
ОтветитьRon Johnson could have saved them, but the board chickened out and bailed halfway through his plan.
ОтветитьAh yes. When Corporate America thinks people love shopping in the dingiest environments possible.
ОтветитьIdk seeing all these American stores/restaurants close tell me we are def part of a dying empire.
Ответитьthis is stupid because I can still drive to a JCPenney's store that's still operating as normal
ОтветитьI think whats most interesting is your mention of 90s walmart really disrupting the department stores, and so to compete, that high quality clothing our parents and grandparents speak of was lowered to cut costs. On top of the dying mall problem, another factor today is the quality of clothing being pumped out by brands likes shein and fashionnova. Department stores will never catch up fast enough or be able to provide the trends with high quality goods. What you're finding now is every department store like Penneys, Kohls, Macys selling you much lower quality clothing then they have ever offered. Everytime I go back, it gets worse. You pay department store prices for items that shrink and warp after 1 wash. Theyre so deep in debt now I dont think the quality will ever recover.
ОтветитьAs a make JC Pennys is like the only good store my whole family can compromise on going to. Heck it’s the only place I get anything
ОтветитьEckerd wow I almost forgot!!! Didn’t know jcp owned them
ОтветитьI thought diners club was the first credit card? That was well after the 1920s.
ОтветитьMy local JCP is still open, they only have half of the lights on at a time to save money. It’s dim and it feels like I’m in the backrooms. It’s really sad bc I grew up going there often. They have nice stuff there sometimes but the prices are crazy for a store I have to find a reason to visit and it’s usually just to see how run down it is.
ОтветитьI’m 29 and I feel nostalgic about my childhood memories sometimes. Not because of the usage of the internet and technology. But more because of the way things have changed so quickly and so much. A lot of stuff that were normal, now they look more like abnormal.
Ответитьi still have a Jcpennys in my town and it gets a good crowd of people everyday
ОтветитьI love JC PENNEY we have one of the few standalone stores in our small town and it’s always busy. They always have amazing sales too. We don’t have to drive to the city to get Levi’s. I hope they survive
ОтветитьFeels so weird watching this, just went to my local jc penney's last week. The thing that got me to drive down to the mall? Christmas shopping, especially for fragrances since can't really do it online properly. Didn't realize they had filed for bankrupcy
ОтветитьI have always liked JCPenney. I had been going there on and off since I was a young kid. I even like going there now as an adult. We recently moved to Idaho, and one of the nicest and most organized and clean JC Pennys I have ever been to is in Nampa Idaho. All the employees are very helpful and friendly.
ОтветитьJCPenny is so silly !!! I love going there for accessories, and it's sad to see their current state economically. They are an anchor store at my favorite mall ever, and i hope it stays open forever.
ОтветитьAt my mall in my town JCPenney is still there and open
ОтветитьWow, that’s kinda sad. I might take some photos/videos next time I go to JCPenney at my mall, considering it might be gone in a few years. Nice video!
Ответитьmy mom used to take me to JC Penny’s for back to school shopping all K-12 & then to get professional clothing for my first big girl job :/
Ответить"As a deeply religious man, he ran the company with kindness and donated to churches and other organisations" is such a contradiction. Religious people only care about their personal reward and punishment. They don't do anything out of kindness, they just do things that they think their god wants them to do. If he donated to poor people, it wasn't because he wanted to help those people or because he knew it was morally right, it was just because he thought he would go to hell otherwise. His god apparently doesn't like people with addictions and their families and instead prefers pedophiles.
ОтветитьI liked the Pennys logo of JCPENNEY
ОтветитьJCPENNEY is like Sears
ОтветитьJCPenney tried hard to stay open
ОтветитьQlso i wonder how now james penny seeing the world the wayb it is full of hate i security and fear. How q man who just wanted to be kind.
ОтветитьJcpenny is dead wtf then why is it still qn anchor store in my mall? Guess i got kinda lucky
ОтветитьActually the one here in Billings, Montana is clean and nice but yes, kinda boring. You have to walk through it to get to the other stores. Yes you have Dillard's and the main doors that unfortunately leads to the food court. A few shelves were empty and prices were a little higher than usual. I'll try my best to let you know on how it looks the next time I'm there.
ОтветитьAnyone remember when they had large electronics, furniture, carpet, drapery, and appliance departments? How about a mens department that would tailor fit your suits? A garden shop? Also an automotive department that sold and installed tires, batteries, shocks, mufflers, brakes, car stereo systems, car parts, etc. Some would even major repairs like transmission, rear ends, and engine work.
Ответитьim not buying jeans on amazon so i need these stores
ОтветитьI truly miss the way that JCPenney's used to be. They had an excellent selection of women's casual and business clothing in tall sizes, and the prices were mostly affordable, in addition to occasional savings promotions. Around 2015 is when I noticed the materials and manufacturing declining.
ОтветитьWHY THE F WOULD I WATCH THE BANKRUPT-CY OF JCPENNY WHO THE F IS TOUCHING MY LAP TOP
ОтветитьPolite tip: try throwing on a de-esser onto your audio to soften the s whistles! It’s a bit strong in this one. Could be the microphone bringing it out stronger, but it’s easy to fix :)
Ответитьmmmmm, the biggest tactical blunder Sears, JC Penny and the like made was getting into the loan servicing industry or at the very least not cutting it off past the 90's and outsourcing it. GE learned that lesson the hard way but corrected it.
ОтветитьThey're still holding on by the skin of their teeth. Not to be confused with Penny's in Europe I'm shocked they're still in business. TJ /Maxx too, TK Maxx in Europe must be a big part why their still above water they're booming over the pond..
Ответитьidk how much you consider requests but i think you should do one of these videos on polaroid
ОтветитьHate these stores. They really gone? Could never find anything.
ОтветитьSimon purchased Penney to keep A FLAGSHIP retailer in their malls. There is one down the road from where I live in ID. I used to like their line of shirts, but other than that, I just drive by. The mall is only used by seniors as a walking path in the cold or supper hot weather. Part of the mall has become a private school (looks to be a great idea) and that parking lot outside the school was torn up and they created one heck of a nice grass playfield for the kids; surrounded by about a 80-10 foot steel fence.
Life goes on, and now, people (including me) prefer to purchase via the internet. All but food....
Как всегда, отличная работа
ОтветитьWalmart killed JCP just like they have done to many others
ОтветитьThere is actually a standalone JCPenney two minutes away from me. Their stores from the inside are kind of outdated, but my mom is obsessed with going to there locations just to argue with my dad there. It gets boring there. 😐
ОтветитьI still like shopping at the JCPenney nearby, mainly because its one place where I can find gifts for everybody in my family in a single store
ОтветитьLate capitalism, kids.
ОтветитьI hated seeing our JCPenney close. It was an anchor store at my local mall as was Sears. Sad to see the day come when people won't know which anchor store was which. Over the years the JCPenney was in many different locations from downtown to a strip mall and we're already forgetting exactly which lots housed them.
