Very thorough explanation. When I was younger I couldn’t understand or I didn’t pay enough attention on the difference training

Shouldn’t you just do strength training until you reach a heavy weight then switch to hypertrophy

Based on the premise of muscle hypertrophy, for example, dumbbell bench press 1set -21reps, 2set-16reps, 3set-11reps, 4set-9reps, I should care about reaching 25REPS in the first set, the weight remains the same or decreases in the second or third set Weight to increase REPS? Thanks

On the premise of muscle hypertrophy, if the maximum number of reps is set at 25, does that mean the number of reps in the first group or the number of reps in the last group? If the number of reps in the last group exceeds 25, the number of reps in the previous group The number of reps must be more than 25. How do I know that I can increase the weight? Thanks

... I find this really interesting, all makes sense - but then Eddie Hall would say if you want strong shoulders pick half your max and bash out 40 reps. So based on that, i'll ignore the science and carry on getting massive.

Why would an average person choose hypertrophy over strength training if strength training includes some hypertrophy? Obviously, some people want to look jacked, but vanity aside, are there any other benefits?

This is a great and informative video, but I still have some doubts about the strength progressive overload part. What if I cannot add more weight, and I’m currently doing 5 reps with 5 sets? Is it okay to increase the number of sets to adapt until I have higher loads? Is it necessary to follow a similar progressive overload program as the one that you gave for strength? Also, what is the next step after the 12 week program example that you gave, are you supposed to reset it with more weights? Or just keep going? Thanks for the vid, lad!!

So basically having big muscles does not convert over to strength if you lack correct neural adaptations from your training regimen

I'm starting my exercise journey here soon, and I'm very new to this, so with that being said, I understand that hypertrophy is naturally going to happen. However, what if all you want is strength without gaining too much hypertrophy?

I think I'm the only one who is looking for a way to increase strength with minimal muscle volume (size/bulk) increase. I want to be lean and strong, not turning into a gorilla. But because most care about the size, there are next to no explanations to increase strength with a minimal increase in size, which I believe is possible by increasing the density of the muscle. Say instead of increasing the size of each fiber to hold let's say 9 instead of 4 hypertrophs, it's possible to just make it so the 9 hypertrophs are jammed in the fiber that used to house only 4. Can you do a video about muscle density (if you didn't already make one about it)?

wait so i have a very important question: if my rep range is 10-12 reps per set and i do 3 sets for every exercise i do except compound exercises which is 10x3. If i feel comfortable and can reach the 12 rep in ease and feel like i can do more i should add more weight to reach the lowest of the rep range? and when i can reach 12 again i up the weight and repeat the cycle? Will that increase hypertrophy or strength??

Currently, increased volume in hypertrophy leads to redundancy and worse stimuli to fatigue ratio, hindering your ability to recover.

Hypertrophy is so hard to understand for me personally so i like to keep it simple to my understanding. Hypertrophy = damage your muscle by working out so hard(set to failure not ego set) and build it back with more protein after. Strenght = quality sets = harder sets = muscle getting used to lifting heavy so it would be easier for muscle so heavy would not be heavy for muscle, if muscle doesnt feel that its heavy anymore we do hypertrophy then strenght and so on.

I've knowingly had strength parameters as long as I can remember due to interest in sports. I've developed quite good muscles adapting to heavy weight and some fast moves like the power clean. After I also master the power snatch, I'm curious to finally try some hypertrophy training.

If we just want to get more strength on the muscles trained, not especially for the exercice trained, but for the global strength of the muscle, which is the best ?

I doubt after a gain with time there is a decline if you continue to exercise. There would seem to be gains and plateaus. But, you can do more reps at a particular weight and gain endurance. In dead lift one rep versus endurance, I would prefer endurance. One rep is for sport competition.

you say that for hypertrophy training, every set you should be close to failure, but if you do 4 sets of 10 the first sets are going to be easier.

should the first sets have more reps or go until failure? i’ve only been going till failure in my last set

Great video! I have a question, if I were about the lift a weight but when I am lifting that weight, I don't feel as much as stress as the lighter weight brings me. In this case, should I switch back to the light weight or stay in the heavier weight? If switching back to the lighter weight, when should I move on to the heavier weight? Thank you!

bottom line is this right that "you have to do better then before".....so there is no need to upgrade to heavier weights ever? and i should increase the reps and set(time under tension) only?
