Love diesel but the dpf issues kill it, and the stupidity is save planet dpf but save dpf driver further at high revs, idiocracy
ОтветитьGreat video . Any thoughts on DPFs.
ОтветитьI do not agree with what you say. I've been driving the Kia Niro for 3 years now, and the DCT transmission is great!
ОтветитьNone of them . The KIA Sportage has gotten too expensive . It’s not value for money anymore and I much prefer the previous model design , this updated version is neither here nor there in terms of exterior design in my opinion.
Ответить1.6T PETROL with Dual clutch transmission is very problematic and unreliable to choose on. if you want reliable and petrol version just choose 2WD 2.0L Petol with 6AT automatic transmission. if you need off road and towing heaby things just choose turbo disel 2.2L with 8AT transmisiion.
ОтветитьDoesn't the fuel price difference negate the diesels economy benefit from a $ point of view.
ОтветитьKia Sportage, failed off-road tests 😮
ОтветитьNone of the offered powertrains are ok on this car. There should be a 2.5 FWD with 8 speed auto as the standard drivetrain. Failing that the 1.6T FWD with the 8 speed auto would be a good option. I don't want a diesel or AWD for city driving and the DCT is not smooth enough and demands that you don't crawl in traffic.
ОтветитьThe funny thing about the VW breach of car regulations is that no EPA in Europe noticed e spike in pollution! None of them did……
ОтветитьWill there be new sportage with 8 speed auto for petrol like they swapped DCT for petrol seltos 2023?
ОтветитьI like the manual
ОтветитьWhat about the terrain options in diesel? Do they make a difference in AWD?
ОтветитьYou should have talked about the problem with short range driving and diesel engines. Which applies to most people day to day.
ОтветитьThanks mate I’ve got a a w d 2018 Sportage petrol now thinking diesel 🏴👍
ОтветитьSo if you do have a problem with your KIA not this: Kia are tops in my opinion from personal experience. Kia after-sales support and back-up is second to none! "Your problem is their problem" and they fix it without fobbing you off like the European brands. See the article on Daily Mail "We're not telling porkies! Porsche named the most unreliable car brand ahead of Land Rover - is your maker among the 10 worst performers?" Warrantywise has named the worst brands for reliability based on its own data. Worst is Porsche, followed by Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz. A J D Powers survey put Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki and Honda in top four places for customer satisfaction and least warranty claims. In Oz and NZ they say: "Only Poms and Fools buy European Brands", and here's the supporting evidence.
ОтветитьDoes the currently significant price variable between unleaded and diesel sway your position of preferring the diesel if considering these vehicles 12 months on from your original comment?
Ответитьcan you guys (autoexpert) get me any faster and any discount if I go with you. I want a blue GT Diesel High end in Adelaide. How soon can you get me ?
Ответитьits 1 year wait for GT- Diesel in Adelaide. crazy. Any thoughts any one ? Please update. thanks
Ответитьhi, which one do you recommend - GT Petrol or GT-Diesel, I am confused with which one to buy ? Any advise please.
ОтветитьThanks for the video and advice. I have been living in Europe so Diesel is a common motor to have, especially if you're doing lots a km. I just wanted to know if kia/Hyundai have a diesel with a conventional torqued converter transmission?
Ответить@Auto Expert John Cadogan - I did a test drive on the 2 litre Turbo Diesel Sportage GT Line last week. Everything went well except for the fact that I could feel a lot of vibration on the steering wheel and the driver and passenger seat when the vehicle was on standby, for instance at the traffic lights waiting for the lights to go green.
Not sure if your experience was the same when you test drove the GT Line 2 l turbo diesel?
Would appreciate your response.
You lost me at “Hey… climate emergency is real”
ОтветитьDCT and CVT are rubbish i would not buy a car with either. Conventional auto transmissions are the only sensible option.
ОтветитьJust ordered a gt diesel other thing to note between the diesel and the turbo petrol is the service intervals. 10,000 km for turbo petrol, 15,000km for diesel
ОтветитьMum went a bought the gt and im bloody blown away. Throttle control is lack luster, turns into quick for my liking but the mod cons and features are off their head!! Comfy, quiet, good lookin! Loved driving it
ОтветитьAppreciate your “calm” report cobber. I’ll wait for the Hybrid model to hit our shores and your comments/reviews.
ОтветитьJohn I sent you an email about the infotainment \ navigation system fault that many owners are having
ОтветитьI learn so much from your videos, thank you
ОтветитьI drove the GT line Diesel yesterday. I'm sold! What a good bit of kit 👍
ОтветитьDo you know if the diesel needs AdBlue?
ОтветитьIn the uk where speed restrictions are getting worse snd fines are being given out like cookies big engines are going to be pointless!!! Waste of money and Petrol. Just ordered the green 1.6 hybred gt line 1 down from panaramic. Can’t wait absolutely stands out from the crowd Koreans know what they are doing and Kia has outsold all competition so far this year in the uk
ОтветитьThanks for this detailed explanation. I was wondering about the differences and why you favoured the diesel.
ОтветитьThat is what you call a great video. Informative, helpful, straight to the point, now to get it over the line with ME MISSES!!!!!
ОтветитьAre you ok? Need help at all your special that's for sure.
ОтветитьThanks John , you changed my mind on diesels , it will be my next car
ОтветитьHey mate, any chance you'd know the wading/fording depth of the different Sportage variants? Cheers
ОтветитьSo, we bought the 2.0L naturally aspirated SX, with the six-speed auto. The base engine in the second-to-base car.
And the engine and transmission - it's perfectly fine. I've read in a few reports that it's underpowered. I think that the definition of "underpowered" has changed hugely in the last twenty years - underpowered used to mean having to get the manual transmission just so you could row the gears to keep up with traffic, or preparing for an upcoming hill 50 metres in advance so you had a hope of still doing the speed limit halfway up. When I was a kid, we had a Mitsubishi Pajero with the brand-new range-topping 3.0L v6. The Sportage is lighter, more powerful and faster than that thing ever was.
Don't get me wrong - it's not a powerful engine. You won't impress anyone off the line with your 0-60 time, nor is it a heap of fun when you stomp on the acceleration out of a tight corner. But that's not really what we bought the Sportage for - it's urban driving, Bunnings and the market on the weekend, and the occasional beach trip.
We'd shell out for the diesel if we did more high-speed driving (for the low-rev torque) or fun driving, or if we towed stuff. I think my point is, buy the diesel because you want it, not because you need it (unless you're towing, in which case, fair enough).
I am ordering diesel option gt line. Greets from Slovenija
ОтветитьKia 2021 diesel 1.6 mild hybrid, DCT failed at 40k miles, clutch judder and vibration. Kia sorted, replaced whole clutch in a day, no issues. Love the car still, plan to order a petrol hybrid 2022 model this week. Would have liked the same engine as before but don’t do it in a GT line S.
ОтветитьDear John. Can you find out anywhere the 0-60 and top speed on 2.0 diesel GT AWD? KIA doesn't disclose the specs anywhere... :(
ОтветитьHey John, how is the DPF on the Tucson? 95% of my driving is work to home and reverse and my worry is that I won’t get a chance to burn off the DPF. Are my concerns valid? Thanks, love your work!
ОтветитьWhy GT petrol required service for every 10k km , then other variant 15k km,
ОтветитьYou are my favourite blogger. Thanks for for your insight. I got on to you from political comments you made some time ago.
Happy new year.
I am walking through Kia shop today to look at the new sportage. But They even won’t want me to see inside of the car. 😂 terrible service 😆
ОтветитьI drove one of these and they are SHIT. It felt like Kia 5 years ago. not impressed
ОтветитьCertainly been hit with the ugly stick.
ОтветитьThanks John. Heard the latest dct in the Sorento is a bit of a dog around the car park. Any comment?
Also, please be careful promoting your torches for spotting wildlife. Might be great for the kids, but our nocturnal wildlife don't need 2000+lumens aimed at them, especially from close range. It can cause damage to their eyes in the same way as it can damage ours. We do annual koala surveys and try not to use torches greater than around 850 lumens with a narrow beam. If you are directly behind the beam that's enough to identify eye shine and locate them. Kids can have just as much fun and learn the different colours reflected by the different animals. Now if your hunting ferals - different story. Just do it humanely!
If DCTs and CVTs are the way things are going these days why are some car makers continuing to use these sorts of transmissions in everyday cars given that they spend two thirds of their life crawling, which is OK for CVTs but not for DCTs .if its all about fuel consumption and ease of driving maybe its time to develop something new that will cope with all the stresses that come with everyday modern driving condition.
ОтветитьMy wife and I prefer manuals. We are that “just pottering around, non-enthusiast, non-towing” owner you described. I’d be happy to save $2500 with the 2L 4cyl engine, and save another $2000 with the manual transmission base model.
“Base model” in 2021 no longer means the stripped out shit boxes of the 90s, where you were lucky if you got a radio and you definitely wouldn’t get air con. We bought a base model Ceratopsian MY21 and it has everything we need.
And upgrading from something 10-20 years old, even a modern “base model shit box” is going to be light years ahead of what you came from.
