Maybe a dumb question but how do you get past the stinging needles or do they come off when you strip off the leaves? Also thank you for the help with learning
ОтветитьNettle cordage ? Nice , now I have something to do with the stingy bastards in my yard
ОтветитьThe most desired leader lines were made from the tail hair of white stations. If you can get access to any stallions or geldings you should give it a try. (No mares because the urine damages the hair)
ОтветитьWow, I discovered this channel yesterday and it is so interesting!
Thanks for sharing your wisdom, mate! Cheers!
If you boil the natural string in wood ash water and leave to dry it strengthens the fibers
ОтветитьNettles , the stronger the sting the stronger the string 😊
ОтветитьWas always curious about primitive fishing, and this is such a lovely video!
ОтветитьOnly what you find in the forest... I didnt see you find beeswax
ОтветитьAs an American, the way you say "hook" makes me giggle.😊
This was awesome, thank you!🙂✌️
I bet if you went to a carp lake you could have pulled one out.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьMan I so desperately want you to catch a fish!
Keep at it
Nets made from the same cordage could be very useful, rod fishing seems more for sport than practicality, making dams and nets would be a much more certain way to spend resources
ОтветитьGreat video I liked it very much.
ОтветитьNawww....I'm lazy...I'll just find some Mullen and throw it in and wait...🤣
ОтветитьThin layer of sap glue can replace the bees wax right?
ОтветитьGreat video thank you . Enjoy that and learned lots . Maybe some sort of weight ( split shot) just to sink line a bit ? .
Ответитьimpossible for fishing)))
ОтветитьHey you might want to have some pitch stored with the repair kit
ОтветитьWell done. Your next challenge could be to do all of this with no steal knife of modern tools. It is totally doable. Thanks for the upload
ОтветитьI absolutely love that knife you have. Wish I had something nice and simple like that.
ОтветитьAn idea. Look into "drop spindles". May be much faster making the cordage.
ОтветитьI like the thinking, the skills and the honesty!
ОтветитьUse bone for the hook😊
ОтветитьDelightful video. Exemplary writ large as to why my boots are each laced w/ 6 feet of 550 cord and a 25 foot hank of 275 cord( bundled so tightly it’s the width of a AA flashlight) is part of my EDC. Carry a couple fishhooks & leaders in my wallet, on a tape sachet. Nonetheless the bobber hack & primer on twisting nettles cordage was outstanding. I love this channel .
ОтветитьThis channel is amazing. Happy to have just found it and to subscribe. Thanks for the great content!
ОтветитьIn the real world I reckon you'd have starved to death before you finished making that line... do a video on how long it takes to catch food I.e , line & hook vs snaring vs stalking vs foraging , I reckon that would be interesting
ОтветитьI don't have hawthorn hereabouts. I do have Devil's walking stick, so...
Ответить"Com' on and twist again, twistin' time is here!" -- Chubby Checkers
ОтветитьWhilst the one time as a kid trying Petrify Fishing (private land with permission) was unbelievably successful for zero effort. Nothing is as satisfying as making a line to meal in a day
ОтветитьI would make a spear myself for fishing. The cordage might work for bow fishing or spear fishing.
Ответитьvery cool
Ответитьrip worm
ОтветитьFinally something good and not copied
ОтветитьI dont think that this kind of hook can hold a fish ...
ОтветитьIt's worth noting that ancient Rivers would have far more fish, but the riverine habitats of Britain have been very degraded over the years.
ОтветитьWow!! You never run out of ideas!!
ОтветитьNot primitive smh
ОтветитьLine used to be made of woven hair read The Compleat Angler Izaak Walton, Charles Cotton published in 1653. You will love it.
ОтветитьCod jig 😂
ОтветитьSick!
ОтветитьWell, I think I could also make a fishing kit that doesn't catch any fish. :D
Just kidding man, great stuff.
No atrapas nada 🤣🤣🤣 me has hecho perder el tiempo
ОтветитьElectrical tape and a candle? did you find that stuff in the forest?
ОтветитьI notice a halibut hook
ОтветитьWe need to get speedrunners to do this for a video (without instructions ofc)
ОтветитьOur ancestors got all the time of the world so they could afford to spend long time in dauntless tasks like this. After all they got busy and get entertained at the same time without all the distractions of the modern world.
ОтветитьI know new comments rarely get seen - but, I Caveman'ed out when I saw this video pop up. (Okay... truth - I squealed like a little kid. 😄) I love this channel - especially the staff vids - but, all of them I have watched. I can't wait to try this out, while I roam around the Little Missouri river valley in the South West corner of Montana this summer. Maybe catch myself a fat catfish for the cast iron... Thanks for another great vid!
