Thank goodness good design is much more prevalent than when I grew up. I remember a young relative that wanted to paint her bedroom black (yuk) - just to be different. Accent wall or area would have been more pleasant for sure!

Hey Lisa, I would love to see a video on blending different wood tones, I rent and my doors, fireplace and windowsills are all warmer oaks... My style is traditional with beige's/golds, rich greens and little black accents like candles, furniture legs and I'm ditching some more contemporary furnishings like my media unit and coffee table from a previous home. I love richer woods with traditional elements like appliques and mouldings, but I think it would clash too much in my space ❤

I change things out seasonally and doing all these right now especially candles in the fall and winter. I’m changing my curtain panels and lampshades now.

Just recently I had to re-light my space. The different temperature lighting was driving me crazy.

Hi I have two 🤔design questions 1) what is a good bedroom accent wall color when The rest of the room is a very neutral wheat ( more yellowish gold not tan) color . Think the name is michigan dunes. Also the wall is not a full wall . It’s broken up . The right side if the wall is the widest side & has a flat screen tv on it . The center is an open arch way leading to the master bathroom on the right and a walk in closet straight ahead and a little built in dressing table to the left w a mirror and light fixture hanging over it . The left side of the wall is the space behind the door into the bedroom.
2) whats a good set up for papers , mail, “to do “important papers” or bi yearly bills ( not the monthly kind that are electronically setup) forms etc. that tend to land on kitchen counter or extra surfaces? Unlike remotes or magazines that are easy to conceal in baskets ? Thanks 😊 love your channel. Classic textbook advice

Most home scents are toxic!! Boil some orange peels and cinnamon sticks in water on the stove, light a beeswax unscented candle or bake some bread ...or open a window!

Definitely reframe your art work, it's not always the cheapest thing to do, but it really does change the look and feel of the piece. In January we visited family and my father in law had put his house on the market and was down sizing, he finally gave us some paintings that my husband had expressed interest in almost a decade earlier. All of the frames where outdated, as they were older than us and didn't fit our home or style. I had them all reframed over the course of several months and now they are all up and we get to enjoy them on a daily basis. I got inspired and reframed a few more of our own pieces to freshen up the art and i am so glad that I did.

Great tips! Wholly agreed. One tip regarding fragrances: Be aware of which ones you use, and be minimal. It’s not so inviting if your guest (such as me) is scent-sensitive and asphyxiates; that ruins the vibe. But also, having a strong scent of florals when you’re eating buttered popcorn on your couch is also not so great.
