How to Know Your Calling from God: What's God Purpose for My Life?

I think the movie “Rocky” is the best illustration of what a “calling” looks like. Rocky wanted to be a champ, even though no one who ever saw him fight thought that he was especially impressive. He was aging, not particularly bright or disciplined and not very quick in the ring. However this did not crush his passion or his determination and of the rest is as they say….history.

Life changes. I am going thru some storms but I still will praise him. He will never leave me. He also will bring me through

So what to do when you don't love doing much of anything, but most of life is doing what has to be done? From the moment I wake up in the morning, the first thing on my mind is when I can go back to sleep that night because the day is full of stuff I don't like, but have to do and I just want to be unconscious again. I don't know that everything I have to do is even needed.

I'm curious what does God think about herbalism I love helping people feel better and wish I could help everyone I make herbal medicine but I do it because I love to help not for money I don't like to take money or charge for it I do it from my heart

for the past decade everytime i go back to my home country flr holidays all i can think about is running for presidency, being in the government and making life better fir my people.....i don't know if it is a personal ambition or if its from God....am struggling alot with finding purpose....anyone want to help with anything it will be received with open heart

It’s all about the people. It’s not about if you like it but if it helps people than your not being selfish and you’re doing God’s calling. I’m sure there were many times in Jesus’s life where he felt frustrated with people but He kept teaching in the synagogues and healing them.

Recently feel called to go to college to become a doctor.
I’ve never had the desire to be a doctor in the past. It just came recently one day.. my hobby is writing songs and praising the Lord.

So I’m thinking “well, both is helping people. Do I do both?” Idk. I know music has a special effect on the heart to the listener so I’m stuck between the 2.

I feel my calling is acting or podcasting and it is really weird to say that but I love those and I feel I can bring insight to how there are christian from all back grounds and show how even tho there are many different denominations we are all one.

God helps me to pray and He has always answered my prayers! Sometimes when I sing, it blesses people. That's all i know of spiritual things. It was weird?? When I was in my twenties, people would always come to me for advice. I found that odd??? I have no idea what my calling is? In due time, God will show me the pathway He wants me to walk in! Oh WOW... He did ask me that... That's right! I did agree to it! I wonder if God is going to still hold me to that agreement???

Needed to hear this breakdown. Cuz i had what i thought was a calling, did it, got no money for it, so i thought i wasted my time. But it brought me emotional healing and i found Christ. then it ended, so i felt lost and like i made a mistake....so now i see it was a calling, it just ended cuz i found what i was intended to.

Your words help clear my mind right now. I was once a teacher in an elementary school before I resigned due to anxiety and depression. I took two years off work and was ready to start a new career in the customer service field, but then I got rejected during the interview, and now, I'm thinking of going back to teaching because my friends, when I asked for their advice, told me that I should go back into teaching because they see me as being so good at it.

My desire is to be extremely wealthy to help the less fortunate.

I feel like my calling is to join the military but I fear I might not be able to provide for specially my mother or just not being there for her or even dying and leaving her alone since she is alone and I’m her only son and family basically. My heart longs to become a elite warrior and get to challenge myself to my full maximum and be the best I can be as a soldier and the only thing stopping me from doing it is that fear. I’m not afraid to die if I die doing what I felt was my duty. But dying and having my mom go through the pain and loneliness hunts me a bit.

Hey bro. I think you misunderstood. Paul saying "woe is me if i preach not the gospel" was not an exaggerated (like how we speak nowadays) expression of how much he loved it. It was a heavy statement of the judgement he would receive if he did not share the truth. The fact that he used the word woe (greek Ouai) which was the same word Jesus used when judging cities (woe unto you chorazin etc) means that it was no light task he had been given. I think this also points to an indicator of one's calling which is if you feel there is a weight of responsibility on you to do a certain ministry/task, it may be something you are supposed to do.

Yes. But the deeper I have disciplined myself to walk in the Hebrew faith once delivered over to us saints, the more I have allowed and gained desire to bring God's kingdom into every part of my life,
And this has turned my job as a nurse who serves sick patients into a spiritual hospital also where they can get some love and health education and faith which will address the root causes of their sicknesses which is part of God's ministry in my life. And I also have learned that my hobbies can also be used to preach and teach the truth from scripture that is paralleled in the movies and shows I have grown to prefer. And physical exercise that I like to do, has helped me keep my body, a temple, healthy and less effected by sins that Could shorten my life so that I can stay alive longer to love and serve and battle evil by destroying them in my life and in others to free us from thorns and thistle snares that enemies set up for us to be delayed and harmed by. We will also make more progress and distance in the race of life and will be closer to finishing them and tell others that as the same testimony as Jacob, His son Joseph did and so did King David and so did messiah the son of Joseph and David combined and so did Saul in 2 Timothy! And I encourage everyone who reads this to think on their lives and adjust your time and how you spend it to build towards something useful for the kingdom which will only bring positive and helpful results! You can still have your fun and be productive at the same time. Don't believe the lies of the enemies that tell us to take a break and do something sinful to attempt to relieve your stress. God will help you discover spirit lead and beneficial positive choices that will connect your hobbies and jobs into your calling and purposes! And then you will have fruitful coping outlets also that help you feel refreshed and activate Hebrews 4 in your life which commands us to labor as soldiers to enter into a higher level of sabbath rest in our promised lands where we fight in the spirit 24/7 after receiving the fire baptism with a heavenly tongue and we cease from striving with works in our flesh and then we wont get burned out nor fatigued as learn to yield our decisions to the Holy Spirit who will often tell us to stop wasting time in the flrsh and just be still in the mode of the spirit. Then you can be guided later at the right time to move where, when and how She wants us to go and show us what to do in each stage and season of our walks! This is a mature level mystery that I'm finally figuring out how to unlock in my life and in others around me so that we can all achieve more success and victories together or apart!

I've known about JESUS all my life and I have seen HIM change people on the spot and I am wondering why not me. Am I just destined to go to hell?
