Neanderthals didn't disappear they evolved to be more human like with out so much hair in fact i believe in every family there is a brother, sister and any other type of relationship within said family and each family likely has at least 20 to 30 relatives and siblings who are Neanderthals in the form of humans

If you research this with an open mind, you realise that Neanderthals were probably a bit more intelligent than us. But we simply out bred them.
The comparison with the blue whale is totally false. It is the brain size relative to size. We know from DNA that Neanderthals and Sapiens are almost identical. Except that Neanderthals had larger brains. It ridiculous to claim we were more intelligent. There's simply little or no evidence to support this. Plus Neanderthals made art, chemistry and complex processes tens of thousands of years before Sapiens. In brief, Neanderthals were physically and mentally superior than Sapiens. Except for long distance/stamina and in hot climates.
The advantage Sapiens had was that we bred more. Also Neanderthals were highly adaptable but, in the cold regions they prefered, Neanderthals lived dangerously by hunting very large prey. Which means a higher mortality rate. Over tens of thousands of years we simply out numbered them and bred with them.
There is also a persuasive theory that a massive Calderia volcanic explosion in Southern Europe wiped out the majority of Neanderthals. No doubt they would have eventually made a come back but it coincided with a gradually expanding population of Sapiens.

All this really proves is that the most intelligent are not the ones who bred the most. We certainly see this in action today! And breeding the most is a very common evolutionary advantage. Whereas being more intelligent is not such a common evolutionary advantage in nature as we like to think it is.
