This song was a craze in the 80s. It was sung by Nazia Hassan a buddinng 16 yr old singer from Pakistan, music by Biddu a Brit of Indian origin. The cool guy whom you referred was Feroze Khan, the producer and director of the film. he almost went broke by producing the film. In the film, 18 original Mercs were smashed for a fight scene. The movie was commercially very successful.

Being the first such song of its kind in the year 1980, many Indians of my vintage have very fond memories of Aap Jaisa Koi, the movie Qurbani, the singer Nazia, composer Biddu and the star Zeenat Aman!
Biddu had quite a stellar career as a musician and music producer in the UK in the 1970s.
