It will be a big leap for me coming from a 1070SC. now for a new CPU!!!

I mean if you don't own an RTX card, and are looking for a new RTX card on a budget, 6,188 CUDA Cores, and 8GB of VRAM is plenty for applications like Video Editing 4K in Premiere Pro, coupled with say an I9 12900K, or I9 12900KS. I mean your looking at around $1700.00 currently for a RTX 3080TI founders edition, while the RTX 3070TI founders edition is around $800.00. The RTX 3080TI doesn't offer twice the performance as the RTX 3070TI. If you were to get an RTX 3080TI from say ASUS, or GIGABYTE for example then you may pay a little less around $1200.00. The added VRAM of the RTX 3080TI is nice, but for editing 4K 8GB is plenty. If you wanted to Edit 6K, 8K, or even 12K then more VRAM is needed. For 8K you need at least 12GB of VRAM, 16GB would be plenty. For 12K, you would need 18GB, so the RTX A4500/A5000 would work for 12K, or the RTX 3090 or RTX 3090TI. That is on one 4K monitor though, I don't know with multiple monitor set ups.

Even with the Newegg raffle, the 3080 is 500 dollars more than the 3070Ti ...at least for the time being. I just picked up a 3070Ti and I wouldn't say I chose it, it was simply my only option. First the crypto shortage, then covid... after nearly 2 years, I decided to purchased the next card that became available to me and not look back.

i recently won a 3070 ti asus strix and yeah i undervolted .975 with core clock at 2010. temps to me are more important that 2-3 fps but the card is sick but it was that or no card so...

So, the RTX 3070 Ti is supposed to be right in the middle between a 3070 and a 3080.
Performance: nearer to a RTX 3070
Power consumption: nearer to a RTX 3080
Productivity: nearer to a RTX 3070
Price (MSRP): In the middle
Conclusion: It's just a Rip off. You can have a more efficient RTX 3070, or a beast GPU in every section, the 3080.

I get why this card sucks now. Honestly I only wanted the FE version was because of the cooler, luckily I made a great deal with some guy on Craigslist and got it for 650 cause he already had 2 3080s and 1 3090 so yeah.

3060 Ti - €700
3070 - €800
3070 Ti - €800
3080 - €1200

I got a 3060 Ti at launch for €420, so I now traded up by selling it for €700 (yeah, that's what miners pay) and got a 3070 Ti for €800. So in total, I paid €520 for the 3070 Ti...

Here on Brazil the 3070ti is sometimes cheaper (about 1600USD converted from BLR i paid that at least) than the 3070 (about 1900USD) ... so i went for the 3070ti... the 3080 is impossible, its sometimes more expensive than 3080ti (3080 about 3000USD vs 3080ti about 2800USD) witch is already very expensive here especially now with our currency losing more value every day, so at least for brazil it has been a "good launch"

Slightly incorrect. The 3070ti at MSRP is much better value than the 2070 at launch due to the massive amount of money printing by banks. So in reality it is 40% cheaper per FPS per amount of inflation adjusted money.

Stop comparing the 3070Ti to the 3080. The 3070Ti should be compared to the 3070. The 3080 is a different card. You can compare it to the 3080Ti.

I actually just bought a new Galax 3070ti for $1599 in Australia. Considering a 3060 costs $1299 from the same shop it was the logical choice.
