Hey i know its a lot of work to create a long tutorial like this and i respect that, but i have to say something about the eq sweep technique. Iam a professionell mixing engineer for about 20 years now. The acoustic guitar after your eqing sounds very unnatural for me, because of the really bad recording. When you have sent me this eqt guitar i would instantly notice there are some weird eq stuff on it. And the guitar with the eq on has absoluteley no life. Same at the drum room track. But it shows how important it is to record very well in a very well room. Sometimes you hear a lot of these "resonances" for example in a drum room sound on some hit records. There is a saying from i think Bruce Swedin "if you need more than 2 Bands to correct a signal, record it new" I know this video is for people who became bad recordings and try to fix them in the mix, but the fact is, with this bad recordings the end result will never sound like a real record.
ОтветитьI’m 6 hours into the video and now need to know what the song is that we used throughout the chef method. That “I can tell by the blaze in your eyes, recklessly” hits different.
ОтветитьHuman hearing are sensitive at 1k to 3k as of My knowledge, because of babies will have high tone on this frequencies as by human evolution we are tend to have sensitive to this frequency 😊
ОтветитьIs there an advantage during EQ sweeps to listen on headphones?
ОтветитьThis is LEGENDARY. You've gotta do one on spatial effects next.
Ответитьi love you man
ОтветитьCutting the drums did not clean the sound, it killed the body of snare.
ОтветитьLove the video. But you removed a ton of warm harmonics produced by body of the guitar and made it sound pretty thin.
Ответитьthank you once again
Ответитьthank you very much! I just watched all the video and it's definitly great and important content!
ОтветитьIm tryid wathcing with portuguese subtitles but nothing, fix it please
ОтветитьThank you so much for releasing this content for free. This is exactly what I’ve been searching for to get a better understanding of EQ without being overwhelmed. Can’t wait to check the compression one next
ОтветитьI'm grateful
ОтветитьThanks Dylan! Just finished your compression one.
ОтветитьBut there's only 4 dots to take stuff out so how do you get rid of stuff when you don't get lots of dots for bands to do that?
ОтветитьGreat eq class! This helped me a great deal. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge 😊
ОтветитьThank you for this. I just finished the video. I've been watching it in pieces over the last couple of weeks - taking what I've been learning - then applying them to my mixes. You've helped me immensely.
I'm about 3 hours into your 10-hour compression video. It is great as well. I absolutely love your style of teaching.
A lot of people who teach have forgotten what it feels like to know nothing - so they tend to overlook questions that newbies like me have. Not so with this course. Outstanding work. Thank you again.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating for this amazing video ...👍
Ответитьlove from india
thanks for this one
This is SO GOOD - and like the Compression video, has shown me why my mixes aren't! Just a question on the Mix Bus EQ section, once a mix has been compared to a reference track or two and an EQ curve worked out to make the mix sound more like the references, is it okay to leave the EQ on the mix bus, or better to go back to the mix to correct the underlying issues? E.g. if bottom end is missing from the mix, is it better to turn the kick / bass up or to rely on the mix bus EQ? Or is the answer that, if the original static mix sounds good, messing with levels of individual tracks may throw the balance off further so it's better to EQ the whole shebang?
ОтветитьI'm a singer/songwriter and tried to work with a few producers in the past but never could find someone to really match my style (or my budget), so I've decided to learn production myself, which sounds SO overwhelming to say the least, especially when I never intended to. I was nearly about to give up on it all after scrolling through so many complicated YT tips and stuff, when I came across your channel. You guys literally saved me from giving up on this. I went from being so completely confused and frustrated, to so excited to learn because you actually teach people to UNDERSTAND, rather than just throw tips at people like so many other channels. EQ now went from "a thing I use to make good stuff sound better and bad stuff sound less bad" to a tool to use with so much more intention. I am blown away by the fact that your content is free and it's such incredible quality, I love your philosophy on teaching mastering first---you're so right, it's so much better to have this overhead view to know what things should sound like to know what it needs---and everything suddenly seems possible for me now. I'm less than 2 hours into this video, I'm taking notes like crazy and just have to thank you guys so much. tytytyty!!!!
ОтветитьWhat is the name of that John Mayer song you used when speaking on reference tracks? 😩🙏🏾
ОтветитьMany THANKS for the video!
ОтветитьNo one can do that 😮 amazing course.
ОтветитьHoly Moly over 9 hour video just over EQ this is definitely a tutorial
ОтветитьI eliminate damn near all white noise from 3k and up. I can even boost hella and lower the gain fader like -2.5 db and it allows more headroom. I do metal so maybe that's different from this.
ОтветитьI fell asleep watching this video, dreamed about the frequency spectrum all night and now that I’m awake I’m watching it again without even stepping out of bed lol! Thanks for this amazing masterclass.
ОтветитьOn the FF-ProQ2 EQ, you can make the frequency band dynamic - is this essentially turning it into a Dynamic EQ/Multi-band Compressor?
Ответитьdamn Game changer for me. Love you guys
ОтветитьHave you got any mixing templates for Logic that you can share?
Ответитьthank you once again! each time i come back to the tutorial i learn i learn so much good stuff!
ОтветитьThank you, guys, for putting this course online. It added a lot of in-depth knowledge to my developing skills as did the 10 hours cause on compression. Again, thousand thanks!! Keep it up!! ;)
Ответитьi am at the mastering levels of post productions, and this video has helped me identify how to achieve tonal balance and use reference tracks while master. I don't use ozone but manually been mastering my songs. Just begun to understand mastering process. I love the frequency chart with words to identify different tones in sound. 2.30 sounds good as you achieve the tone. Really liked that. It is a bit crazy when i arrived to a sound doing things all on my own. Eureka Moment I guess.
Ответитьas a new beatmaker I'm definitely erratic with the eq I have an idea of what I want it to sound like tho and play around with It with very little knowledge. Thank you for sharing this information for free.
ОтветитьThank u🔥
ОтветитьThanks for your course - am enjoying it. Just an idea - perhaps you could chop it up, chapterise and release as seperate videos that make it easier to follow as a course AND you would make money off each of the videos (?). Anyway, thanks again for the content.
Ответить❤
ОтветитьLiked this because its 9 hours. Just started. Thank you in advance.
ОтветитьI can't believe this content is free 😮
Ответитьis there a section where they teach live eq settings or is it all about mixing/recording?
ОтветитьI had recording classes in college, but we didnt really cover mixing too in-depth. Performance degrees kinda have to focus on the in-studio stuff which honestly has been invaluable for me as a freelance recording artist, but I always felt like I needed more. These courses have filled in a lot of gaps for me. Even though I felt like I knew about 80% of the information having a more structured approach to mixing my own stuff has upped my game enormously. Thanks for putting this out.
ОтветитьNow that I've finally watched the entire video and the compression course as well, I wanna thank you for putting this much knowledge out for free. You have no idea how grateful I am for this. I'm looking forward to apply what I've learned
ОтветитьLots of great instructions, but the one I'll definitely remember is that we need to make that gentleman's tombstone out of nom-nom-nom and juvie.
Ответитьreverb one next please
ОтветитьFor the love of God will someone tell me how to get reference tracks into Logic? From my experience I can't drag them in from Apple Music or iTunes, unless you have the actual cd.
ОтветитьThis is music production education at its best. Thank you for this video.
Ответитьfinally
