First of all, thank you very very much to Aidan Lumb for being a wonderful guide and keeping us safe, and to Phil for arranging it all.
I am joined by @LeiceExplore Steve Picker for another collaboration. This time we are going deep underneath the Derbyshire village of Bakewell, to take a look at the disused Holme Bank Chert Mine.
The mine opened in the late 1867 but was being way before that in the form of a quarry.
After closure in 1960, the mine was sealed and abandoned, including all of the infrastructure inside.
We find everything from conveyor belts, narrow gauge railways, railway tubs, winches, and even some miners boots just left sitting on the rocks.
I hope you enjoy the explore.
