Epson 3880 Disassembly - Replacement parts on the cheap!

hi - I've got a barely used (new to me in 2016) Pro 3880... I got sidetracked initially, and never got back to printing my own pics... Now I'm turning back to it... BIG question... WHERE do i start tuning up the machine for use again, after sitting idle since 2016??

If you don't need the OEM cart chips I would love to buy a set of them from you. I need them for my 3rd party carts.

Hey I have an Epson 3880 that gets black ink drips. Any idea which part I would need to replace? I've heard ppl say the MK/PK switch may be the culprit but I can't seem to find that part online. Any tips or advice? Thank you!!

Can you help me with the front manual feed tray issue. I took out the pizza rollers to convert to a DTF printer, when I did, the roller tray is now off track. Can you help me fix this.

I have an error code 1431 on my 3880. Any tips on what I can do to fix it? The reset program didn’t work for me. Do I need to replace the ink assembly?

So, a while ago I took the printhead off my 3800, cleaned it, put it back together, fired it up, ran a cleaning cycle and it leaked at the same spot (the inkline connection to the damper unit). It pissed ink all over the place and, whadda ya know, 1601 error! So, if I need to pull the carriage to get at (remove) the sensor, fine, but how did you fix the connection at the lines to damper? I opened it up again to have a looksie, there's that rubber gasket with 9 holes for sealing the inklines. I gently removed it, cleaned all the surfaces, but something is nagging at me that it's just going to shit the bed again. I suspect those 2 screws on that flange thing warp and, that's it, no more seal. What are your thoughts on that?

I took my 3880 apart to remove the rollers. I removed the little CN1 cable from the control box/panel. I had trouble trying to get it back in there and now it looks bent and damaged. Eventually got it in but now printer will not power up. How hard is it to replace this CN1 cable?

My printer head is moving a little bit but it is not moving all the way to the left. Do know what I can do to fix this? I have a 150 C error any suggestion on that as well?

Do you have a video where you show removing the cover pieces on the epson 3880, (which doesn't have the fast motion like this one. I am not very technically savy, and need direction like you would speak to a small child. Thanks in advance.

Totally worthless video. Why on earth did you post this... ? Certainly not to show "how to disassembly an Epson 3880". Perhaps you just wanted to show how clever you are in fast motion video. Can I make a suggestion? Why don't you post a video of you playing 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' recorded at 15 frames a second. That will certainly get you invited to the Van Cliburn piano competition.

DTG Question: Hi. I just got a printer from someone and it was working fine but I had to change the printhead. After changing the printhead, I ran into an error code of 0020 and 1601. I went into diagnostic but all I see is the printer saying “Ready.” I am able to perform normal operation without printing. But when I boot into normal mode, I get the error. Also, when I am in diagnostic mode, i pressed eject on the control pad, and I saw on the display panel an error of “Maintenance cover is open.” What can I do? I can’t seem to get rid of the error.

My printer is very similar to Texjet Plus. It’s remanufactured by SWF. I am new to this so your help would be much appreciated!

Hi Loren (or is it Norm - My ears aren't working as well as they use to): your fix it yourself videos and advice on Epson 3800 and 3880 are awesome and will save me big bucks. I have a question? I am in the process of re-assembling my 3880 after using your method to disassemble the printer to clean the printhead. What I want to know is; do I need to make a "Space Making Jig," to make sure all lines are in alignment in the printhead and IC cable as I reassemble? Thanks for your indulging me on this question. Hi Loren: I should of mentioned that I am getting an error message after reassembling my 3880. I am sure I did everything carefully with the cleaning, and reassembly. The error is 1A37. I am pretty certain I haven't killed the print head. I soaked it in a smear of cleaning solution. I pumped cleaning solution through the printhead gingerly, with a syringe. I used compressed air to dry the electrical contacts in case moisture collected in them. I just don't believe anything is wrong with the print head. Do you have any suggestions on getting my printer working again? om

hello, epson 3880, I have a question, if after washing well the black damper still leaves many stains on the print, it must be changed with a new one or it depends on other things. Thanks for the reply. Your video tutorials are very helpful.

I accidentally broke one if the spigot like prongs that connects to the ink cartridges and it looks like from your disassembly i can just replace that flat piece of silver lining instead of the whole ink dispensary assembly... Do u know where i can get one cheaper than $120 that the assembly costs? Maybe you have an extra?

Is there a way to disable the ink door latch. I have a 3880 with the case off of it and would like to leave it that way.
