Escolher uma vida sem dor é fugir da realidade em que vivemos!

yes. 100%
I smoke and drink and do drugs every day. until I'm inebriated. I've never had to have a job and get vacations to tropical islands on a seasonal basis. i eat like a king until im full to bursting, and every night I get to blow my load deep inside my gorgeous girlfriend.
I'll agree that this pleasure isn't reality. I've never joined the military or worked hard for anything I've ever had. but it's full and satisfying because I'm surrounded by loved ones and love the hobbies and interests I've accumulated. it doesn't matter any more or less than someone else's.but I would definitely choose pleasure in a "meaningless world" than suffering for one. many people suffered for me to enjoy this life. I'm very grateful for it.

I’ve experienced a lot of pain so I’d be happy to only experience pleasure the rest of my life ( I’m not close with anyone)

No physical pain, possibly.
But the existential dread would always be part of our minds.

Why would the experience machine put you in that scenario at all? Kinda seems like a straw man argument, but I could be wrong

As someone who enjoys food too much but has to limit herself because she doesn’t want any health issues from overeating, I’d say yes.

Spoilers: the end of the Good Place really puts this into perspective. Imagine eating your favourite dish for every meal of every day, or playing your favourite game every single day. You wouldn’t just “get bored”, you would, overtime, lose any emotional stimulation possible from that experience. Now imagine a life where you only do things that guarantee “pleasure”; after infinity, you would become as the show calls “a pleasure zombie”

bold to assume that we are living in reality right now

I wouldn’t not judge or try to stop anyone from “plugging in”, but I wouldn’t myself. I made a promise to follow life’s path, I intend to keep it

I think i wouldnt do it. Given the love triangle i want to know the truth, its not about taking away my pleasure, life is about trust and truth and without there's none

Isn't heaven supposed to be this version of a utopian world with no pain nor suffering

I don't want to life a life of endless pleasure and with no pain. It would be a boring life and make me dull and addicted. What I want is to become able to deal with the pain in a healthy way and gain an equanimous mind. That's why I prefer stoicism
