My 115 lb Golden was super good with my kids, but he did not like neighbor boy and would not let him use sidewalk in front of our house. After he passed on, I found out the boy had assaulted my young daughter and was guarding us and the house. Also at river beach, a bunch of men came for the day and were...doing things without regard to kids and moms being present. When they finally laid down on their beach towels he walked behind them and accurately aimed his pee on their heads. I'm still laughing at their outrage 40 years later.

We once had a Dachshund and his name was Sweet. Indeed he wasn't a sweet one but protective and always on the alert. It was the year 2006, when some robbers came to our house, but they were too late.

Our short and long friend was just there to be on the alert to save us. I value a dog for its intelligence, alertness and protectiveness. Not for other nonsensical bullshit.

Dachshunds are one of the best to own. It is a breed for strong personalities and not for the timid aka pussies.
