Loved it until the bridge.
ОтветитьI just graduated from Erasmus Hall last summer.
ОтветитьBarbra streisand as in the duck sauce lady?
ОтветитьListening to this song makes me feel so loved.
ОтветитьI enjoy this beautiful song and the performances by the various artists, but I love the performance by Dana Winner and Belle Perez.
Ответить@tbspeaks Truer words are hardly ever spoken........
Ответитьlovely song :) so powerfull, please watch my version:)
Ответить@jeffbazell1Isn't he the guy that blew his brains out ?
Ответить@albertdiner Bernadette Peters far exceeds Streisand in phrasing and execution. Streisand is all about singing by the numbers. And how is there a male singing this duet?> Is he gay?
ОтветитьI wish she released this song as a single in the '80's. It didn't work for The Broadway album but it would have been perfect for Till I loved You.
ОтветитьI was at Erasmus with Barbara and Bobby F. Great to see some of the old photos and people.
ОтветитьNot bad. I recon it would've interesting if Jodi Benson sang it with her.
Ответить@Nautilus1972 ~ Are you? Probably not, since you have no artistic sense, nor any common sense either.
ОтветитьI love Barbra's version, but I'm wondering why the graphics are all about Erasmus. Who wants to look at old photos of Bobby Fischer while listening to this beautiful love song?
Ответитьsearch bolder gazet van antwerpen
ОтветитьAbsolutely best version ever!!!!!
ОтветитьI didn't know Barbra sang this song, have been Barbra's fan forever, love it, indeed Barbra is amazing, thank for sharing.
ОтветитьThis song is from the musical CHESS based on U.S. chess champion BOBBY FISCHER, who was Barbra's friend at Erasmus Hall High School. They met for lunch at the school cafeteria. Barbra had a crush on him.
Ответитьi agree their version was just beautiful. barbra did good but this is just as boring and pretentious as the majority of her vocal performances tbh
ОтветитьFor excellent taste,Barbara's version is superb. Thanks for the videos, tooThanks for posting.
ОтветитьI dont know if Barbra is a Genius or an ARROGANT DIVA, LOL. She always take duet songs and make them solo!!! . Yes the Whtiney version is very good indeed. Would have love to hear her sing more "barbra' like songs
Ответитьawesome
ОтветитьIt's a good performance, but she's just doing an impression of Elaine Paige, even down to the English vocal mannerisms.
ОтветитьHey Moos, she doesn't copy anyone. They copy her. Moron
ОтветитьStreisand copying Paige is the most absurd thing ever. Streisand recorded this way before Paige did. Composers queue to have Streisand perform their work.
ОтветитьBarbra...Barbra...you never stop amazing me with your voice... everytime I think you have passed your prime, I come to the realization that you are one of a kind in this world of copy cats.... Paige doesn't have your register for the high notes...
ОтветитьI LOVE THIS thank you for posting.
Ответитьthis song kills me from sauth africa with love
Ответить@pastre999: Streisand recorded this way before Paige did??? That's WRONG. Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson were the first to record the song in 1984, for the Chess concept album (before it was staged in London). Streisand recorded it for her The Broadway Album, which was recorded between july-august 1985. The song had been a #1 hit in the UK by then. Finally, her version didn't make the album and didn't see the light of day until it was included on the box-set "Just For the Record" (1991).
ОтветитьShe does not sound at all like Elaine Paige here. But it is a great version of this great duet. I used to like her vocals more when I was younger. I think most things have been over produced over the last 10-20 years or so. But I've always treasured her first 3-4 albums. As a performer, I find her too mannered and mannequin-like at times. But - what a career!
ОтветитьGreat pictures of the young Fischer.
ОтветитьSuper star remember you forever
ОтветитьEverytime I think Barbra has been upstaged by Celine... I dumb struck by her voice and her vocal interpretation of a classic song... she simply never stops amazing the world with her gift that beautiful voice
Ответитьgreat
ОтветитьGod her singng is so beautiful beyond words!
ОтветитьI am not disliking this, however I prefer the all-female version of this beautiful theme; and imagining Barbara + Celine, or the ABBA girls version, that would be something ...
ОтветитьBarbra's voice is sublime. I love the purity of her vocals and intelligence of her phrasing. Her version of "Somewhere" surpasses the movie's. But in this case, things just aren't working. I don't know if it's because the song is too weak, she outclasses the male vocalist or that I'm just biased.
I first discovered this song at the end of Whitney Houston's second album Whitney. She sings it as a duet with her mother Cissy Houston. As one critic at the time already noted, the age difference between Whitney and Cissy lends a poignancy to the song, especially in Cissy's case. And I think he's right. If you've ever been a young girl (as I was) listening to older female relatives talking about all the ups and downs their husbands put them through over the decades, you'll get the emotions - the melancholy, the ruefulness, the wistfulness, the exasperation - behind this song.
Making the song between 2 WOMEN at different ends of the age spectrum makes the song MUCH stronger than having the song sung between Barbra and a male vocalist who clearly can't keep up. Perhaps if Barbra had sung it with a grande dame of the theater (I'm not a huge Broadway fan and anybody I could think of would probably have been dead by then - Rosalind Russell perhaps - already dead by then I know - or maybe Angela Lansbury?) it might have turned out better. It certainly shouldn't have been put on any version of the album. It simply doesn't serve her well.
Oh well, I still have "Somewhere" :^)
NO ONE ELSE CAN SING THIS SONG BETTER THAN BARBRA - NOT ELAINE PAGE OR WHOEVER - LOVE IT - CAN'T STOP LISTENING - THANK YOU FOR POSTING
ОтветитьTout ce que Barbra chante est une merveille ! Elle chante tellement bien Bravo Barbra I love you for ever😍😘
ОтветитьI would like to hear Barbra, Frida and Agnetha singing this song together!
ОтветитьI would love to hear her some this with Celine Dion
ОтветитьOne of the most enigmatic woman to have ever lived the most beautiful ,once, and the best female vocalist in all of world history.
ОтветитьThank you Albie, for sharing this song. It really added some pep to my step.
ОтветитьThis is brilliant she should have released it
ОтветитьIn all of human history there will never be a castrato voice like this
ОтветитьWhy in all photographs is she the one with the unusual beautiful nose?
ОтветитьThis song is really nice. Funny to think that she and Bobby Fischer were classmates.
ОтветитьMagnificent song, it could also be life once upon a time.
